Puscifer is really a force to aspire to as a musician. What a lucky man to work with such brilliant musicians. Lovely voice, & brilliant mind, but the music Maynard has accompanied is always always astounding!

I sailed from Cape Town to Guadeloupe. I had never spent a night at sea in my life and the trip took 47 days. One stop in St Helena for two nights and straight across the Atlantic. My itunes had never been out of wifi for this long. It finally stopped letting me access my music on my devices. I was quite gutted at having my media taken from me. I had paid the bills. but the device wanted to register with apple. I found a folder with some Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and Tool kept just for such an occasion. To sit on watch thousands of miles from land staring up at the stars with Maynard singing along made perfect sense. When the weather whipped up in the squalls, this was my anthem. I had to almost fight being afraid of listening to this, it lifted every experience out there. I just bought my own boat. I am making my way out to Greece to fetch her as soon as its safe to do so. I think this will be my first track on board..

As a late 40's man, I kick myself in my saggy balls for never giving Puscifer a glance for all these years. Been a Tool fan since the beginning, but never wanted to give this a chance. Damn, I was a dope. Also, this is the coolest video I have seen in a damn long time.
When I first heard the song I liked to think that "women and children first" started out as an honest answer to getting them out for their safety first because Poseidon was turning that shit up to 11...but when they braced themselves for 12 and the glorious climax of the song came in, I like to think that when they said "Toss the extras over, women and children first" meant that they were now just tossing those fuckers over so the ship would be more buoyant and they would take on less water...

I love this song - in my opinion the video totally detracts from the tension and dread the music and military style commands create. First heard it on college radio and always envisioned something less "fantastical" then what this video shows.
To me this song represents how humans think they are better, smarter and more resilient than nature/God. This is the story of the titanic he's telling, the captain knew icebergs we're ahead and yet he thought his ship was better and he could ignore the warnings and take it on. It's a representation humans know all too well thinking they are better than where they came from. Nature will always give us warnings and will always be greater than us, but our ego gets in the way and our sense of entitlement kicks in thinking we can outsmart nature.
