    Rebirth has great combat when it comes to the synergy abilities. 16 however, is definitely for people who like Devil May Cry and other action games. Rebirth requires some strategy while 16 is more straight forward. I like them both in their own ways

    I really enjoyed XVI, especially compared to XV, but I really missed the tactical aspect to combat from previous games. Not to mention controlling only Clive for the entire game became very repetitive, even more so when you’ve found your optimal ability setup. The system they’ve established with the Remake trilogy is one I think they should develop upon and implement in all future mainline games as it strikes the perfect balance between fun, challenging, and the classic formula. 🤓

    Would’ve really loved if 16 supporting characters were playable. Switching between Joshua, Jill, Torgal, Cid, Dion and Clive (hell even Gav) would’ve worked so well for the story and you wouldn’t have to shelf like 4/5 of your abilities.

    7 is way better, 16 combat gets monotonous fast. The RPG is much deeper in 7 with all the weapons and Gear and Materia and Skills and mutiple Charcaters and switching, synergies is much deeper.

    • @MadaoAU
      @MadaoAU 6 месяцев назад +19

      That's because the combat in 16 depends way more on how you combo attacks and not about using the spells correctly and having weaknesses and etc. 16 is a full action game, Rebirth has simple combat that improves the customization of standard turn based RPGs. There is a reason the game was made so you have Classic mode too. You don't need execution to do stuff on Rebirth.

FF16's combat was some of the most automated feeling dull shit ive experienced. 16s combat hands down is superior. Combos, smoothness, scale, enemies, boss fights is all better than Rebirth. Problem with Rebirth is nothing changes from beginning to end, same as remake in the combat, very repetitive. 16s combat is the best system since DMC5, which same combat designer so there you go, has many different combinations through out the whole game

  • @voistar5387
    @voistar5387 6 месяцев назад +5

    Both games have phanomenal combat for different reason and both are extremely fun.
    However, I feel enemy/boss design in Rebirth sometimes are at war with the combat system which does feel extremely bad when it happens. That and a few bosses (like how Odin's mechanic interacts with NPCs you aren't controlling or the duo fight involving him and Alex) are just not well designed.
    In contrast, never felt a single normal enemy, elite enemy, hunt, or boss was at war with FF16's system. Everything flowed togther well and it was an all around better experience for me.
    That and I think people tend to vastly overblow the "strategic element" of FF combat systems since outside of enemies/bosses with extremely restrictive gimmiks or superbosses (and even thebits not too much strategy and you can brite force it if determined), you don't have to strategize much. Played the game primarily with Yuffie and played extremely similar to how I did in FF16, and that combined with how broken Doppelganger is, I've melted most enemies and boss (on Dynamic mode) with almost no change in strategy and little incentive to change up my build since it works so well.
    You know, the same mindset people try to use to say 16 has no depth, because it is a very easy statement to make about both games, rendering its value as an arguement against one vs the other completely pointless.

      My dude I'm in 100% agreement there.
      Nothing will ever be made that even comes close to Ninja Gaiden. It's like you're playing fighting game mechanics in a hack and slash.
      It forced you to actually git gud with no level of grinding that could save you.
      I remember wanting to throw my Xbox controller many times during my first playthrough, especially with Almas second form cause you were forced to watch that long ass cutscene with no ability to skip it every time you died.
      But man once you get good, and start to play on the harder difficulties (whereas the game didn't just stay exactly the same while simply making you take more damage but actually upgraded each enemy class who would assault you frustratingly with a smarter AI) you felt pretty god-like.
      Unfortunately I don't think that kind of game is appealing to people anymore because it's not 'figure out the enemy pattern' or a 'do side quests till you're leveled up enough' sort of game.
      You had to legit develop fast reaction times and thimb dexterity that I don't think would appeal to a wide enough audience to justify a modern gaming budget.
      Plus Creep-Tagaki is gone so we'll likely never see a game like that ever again especially with most action oriented games trying to be another Souls clone with mazey levels and environments 😭

    Is this even a debate ?
    FFVII Remake/Rebirth have by far the BEST battle system ever made in any Final Fantasy. It is dynamic, spectacular, thrilling, deep, strategic, fun and impressive.
    I hope they will stick to this formula for the next FF games way beyond FF7 Remake part 3.
    FFXVI battle system was entertaining for a couple of hours, but it was sooooo redundant passing few hours ; it was to me a very generic beat'em all with a list of cool downs to activate on and on and on. No depth, . FFXVI had a lot of potential , I was really expecting it and got really frustrated. It was a game painful to finish. And I have no will to restart the game whatsoever. Like never ever.
    At some point they should stop reinveting the wheel at every single entry and keep what is working well. FFVII Remake formula is really wonderfully crazy efficient ; they really are onto something , just stick to it.
    Or they can act that there are 2 schools of battle systems, with 2 different branches of FF games ; but I will definetly stick with the FFVII remake branch, every single day.

    Rebirth's combat is better by a mile. 16's combat is just cycling through eikons. Feels like a mindless button masher game, which is a horrible look for any jrpg. Rebirth being able to change materia allows you to fully customize how each character can play. Then theres combat skills and custom equiping them to a hotbar on L1. Open world map is the obvious cherry on top. It's going to get rpg GOTY for sure.

    Rebirth is by far the best FF I have played in a long time. XVI was great but it eventually got dull to me and struggled to keep my interest. I also hated some of the button layouts. Switching between different attacks sort of irked me due to my ADHD. However I REALLY loved the Godzilla x Final Fantasy feel. It's the only reason I was so hooked to begin with.
    With Rebirth I found myself replaying Remake before launch just to get a bigger experience and it truly feels like I'm replaying a massive huge Final Fantasy game that I always dreamed about. I would love to see more FF with this same combat system coming out with these same kind of multiple parts whether through DLC expansions or new game in parts.

      @@Steveo0547 Well, I started with FF7 back during the PS1 era. So my opinion might be a bit bias, so I really want to say FF7 Remake then Rebirth and if you really enjoyed those, then 16 might be the next best. If you want to start short then big, then try 16 first. 15 is good too that's also real time action and just as short but 16 is much better.
      FF7 R&RB together will feel like a really long and MASSIVE journey like how every FF felt back in the day. I feel the reason Rebirth isn't making as big sales as Remake is because most people now know it's not a full retelling of the original story. But since you never played the original, you most likely won't care and be able to enjoy the game more. So you can just start with Remake, if you enjoyed it enough grab Rebirth. There will also still be one more FF7 game to complete the series(the PS1 game came with 3 discs so it's actually really cool for an old fan) so you'll have plenty of time considering how much to do they give you. Thankfully, they have everything to make the game like Rebirth, they just have to put it together. So maybe another 3-4 years? Something to keep in mind if you'd rather wait.
      FF16 I think you'll enjoy but the experience will obviously not feel as long and unfortunately there's some slow parts that might kill the experience for you as it did for me and a friend of mine. We didn't hate it, we just fell off it out of boredom. Although the beginning to the mid point was REALLY fun. But FF7 has my full on attention. Timing might have a lot to do with it too though cause I just got the PS5 a couple months ago playing 16 and Spider-Man.

      You have to work for atb, cds on the other hand are always available at start and you can easily destroy most enemies at the start of the encounter by spamming them. I don’t get your point, in 16 you also wait for cool-downs to “spam the same attacks,” more so than rebirth. Rebirths actually forces you to use different abilities and spells on enemies due to weaknesses, in 16 you can just equip all the ultimate abilities with lightning rod and melt bosses since there’s no weaknesses and your cooldowns refresh at the start of each fight you can just mindlessly spam all your abilities and end the fight immediately.

XVI combat is great but the problem with it is that it feels like a Hack and Slash which isn’t bad, but a skilled hack and slash player can overcome any obstacle which in turn would break the ROG leveling up aspect, so the combat feels very grindy and Un rewarding, wash rinse repeat.
