    Love it! I grew up in Daytona Beach and loved hearing the roar of those race cars. Excellent find!

    There were other kits. I have two of them. I had and still have it a Parma International Mark Martin Ford Thunderbird Kit. I believe that it was called "Champions of Racing". I got it new from my Dad for Christmas in either 1992 or 1993 and assembled it myself. I'm not sure which year. It has the same chassis design as the Days of Thunder Kit you have. I raced mine as a teenager at a local carpet track. I also mounted body posts in it because the velcro body mounts sucked. The body would come off easily during a collision. I have looked for an electronic copy of the instructions to no avail. The other Parma RC model that I have is a sport truck. I bought it fully assembled off of ebay about 7 or 8 years ago. It was mislabeled as Bolink and nobody bid on it. I knew what it was and bought it for like $30. It has the same chassis design as well.

    I had that kit as a kid! I was underwhelmed by it. I was disappointed by the lack of suspension.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  Год назад +1

      yeah I think the real purpose of this kit was just to market the body and have a model of the car... the rolling chassis is so simplistic ... the most basic I've ever seen... Parma was onto something back in the day.... The 1st shelf queens lol....

    What an awesome find! I'm usually more for building, but in this particular case, being SO mint, and not being the best drive, for what I've read in the comments, I'll leave it in the box, making it special for the potential of what it could be in your mind, if that makes sense...

    Very cool and I am sure rare kit! As cool as it would be to see it all put together I am not sure I could build it either seeing how well preserved it all is! Maybe if the box was tattered up and there were pieces rolling all around in there but it is very looking as just the kit! Either way great find and great kit for your collection!!!

    This is awesome! I'm pretty sure they made the Hardee's 18 car, I swear I saw the kit on eBay a couple years ago but it was opened and partially built. Parma did make body kits and I had the Mello Yello body when I was 4, my dad painted it for me and put it on his Tamiya grasshopper with Tamiya F1 tires and rims on it lol Back in 2009 I bought all the Parma Days of Thunder decals on eBay. They made the decals of all the cars in the movie. I'm rambling on now but I love your videos man, keep up the great work! Happy Holidays!

    How come people never want to tell how much they paid for the kit? Like here he just says 3 times the original price. Just say the price you paid for it. It shouldn't be a big deal.
    Other than that its pretty neat.

    i remember when they came out. but back them i was racing a RC10L and the Parma cars weren't no where near being competitive on the track. they did put out 3 kits. the hardees and exxon being the other 2. but they did have the stickers to make the other cars for people to buy

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  Год назад

      Since making this video...I've only seen the stickers they put out for the other cars (Hardees & Exxon). I have not seen a full kit like this one for the Mello Yellow. Parma made an actual kit with the Hardees or Exxon stock car featured on the box.... or they just put decals out to make your own?

    • @DrBwacko
      @DrBwacko Год назад

      @@RCRetro they did make the other 2 as a kit. i remember them being on the shelf of my local hobby shop back then. they were bought by people thinking they could be good for the races and tired to race them but ended up with their own class since there were about 6 guys with them
