- Had a job in Butte, Montana and I was able to get a couple walks in. This first one is in Uptown Butte, where most of the old buildings are located. Butte has fallen on hard times the last couple of decades but was once known as the Richest Hill on Earth for it's copper mines and the fortunes it made. It still has it's 19th Century charm even if some of the paint has chipped. Butte residents are a tough lot though and they still have many events and activities throughout the year. Give yourself a treat if you are near the junction of I-90 and i-15. It's definitely worth a stop.
When I was living out West in Oregon I went to college with a guy that was from Butte. He used to talk about it all the time and thought it was a great place. I could kind of understand that if you grew up there but it doesn't look like the kind of town I would be happy living in. Besides that, I would imagine it gets damn cold in the Winter. Different strokes for different folks...
Yeah, I think it's a tough town but cool to visit. Thanks for watching and the great commentl -Henry
Nice peaceful city with very less population. Washington Street is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for the comment. Love your vids. -Henry
Delhi Walker hii bro
This place is so quiet (even for a Sunday morning), it felt a bit like you were walking around a ghost town. The views at the start were wonderful, and there are so many interesting buildings there - thanks for taking us on this walk and sharing some details about the place!
Funny you should say that. It is a bit of a ghost town. It’s way past its heyday but it still has a lot of character. -H
Beautiful place with amazing view 👍🏻
Thanks. It’s a bit run down in places but a lot of personality and character. -Henry
Memories! Thank you so much..
Our pleasure! Glad you liked it. -H
I lived there for 2 years. Looks a lot better in this video than when I was there.
Nice one. Yeah, I think they've been trying really hard to bring the city back. -H
I grew up here in the 1960’s. I can tell you this guy is so cold right now. But I appreciate the walk.
Not sure what you mean by "cold". Hopefully not emotionally. :-)
There is really no better than seeing nice houses in your walking tour specially in the spring. ❤️
Great. I love seeing the old classic one's as well. Thanks. -H
Commenting a few years late, but it's a shame you didn't know more about the history of Butte. You passed many very historic landmarks without comment. Butte's history is very unique and it's too bad more wasn't revealed. Otherwise I did enjoy a visit one more time. I was born and raised in Butte, I wouldn't want to move back, but I still love it dearly.
Hi Douglas, Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. I'd like to be an expert in all these locations but it's just not possible. I do enjoy learning from locals though so if you want to add in information to the comments with time stamps, I'd love to pin the comment to the top for others to learn. Thanks again. -H
Love the town Butte Montana, and I have never been to the state of Montana, it's up there on my list thank you so much for sharing 👍
You are so welcome! It’s a fantastic and historic city to explore and not that big geographically. Thanks Kimia. -H
Nice! Thanks for the walk!
Thanks for watching-H
awesome content. a piece of the western frontier.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much -Henry
How stunning view and clear sky 👍 Thanks for sharing nice working
It was clear but cold. The elevation is about 1200 Meters. Thanks for watching - Henry
Butte is fascinating. Replace the cars with 1960's models and you would have a perfect film-location. It reminds me of the pictures by Stephen Shore or Gregory Crewdson.
Yes! I’m surprised more films haven’t been made there.
Fantastic place !
👍
Enjoyed it always been curious about Butte! Thanks !
It’s definitely worth a visit if you have a chance. Thanks for watching. -Henry

Henry, please do Tucson if you get a chance to visit. I was there , briefly, last year; it has a great downtown area -- so reminiscent of Portland, Oregon forty years ago. (I smelled patchouli oil emanating from a music store!!)
I’d love to. During the winter maybe. 😀
Beautiful country side.....going to check your second channel also.
Thanks Kannada Diary. Just subbed to yours too. Look forward to more vids on India. Visiting there is on our bucket list. -H

@@CityWalks thanks brother.. i can learn and improve my channel from you.. 🙂🙏
I saw an hgtv special that showed an old brewery in Butte that was converted to a private residence, it looks like a cool place to live, I’m sure I’ll enjoy your stroll, I’ve never been there , also My old friend Bill has a place up there as well. He was an extra in the film “ Return to lonesome dove”, parts of it were filmed near there
I hope you enjoy it. The economy is pretty tough there but the city has so much great history including Eval Knievel's birthplace and home. -H
Hey been a while. Windy day. Weird that i neard that name town before.
Yeah I’ve been off grid floating a river in Utah. Butte is one of the bigger cities in MT. -Henry

Reminds me a bit of Leadville Colorado
Haven't been there but I've heard of it. Thanks for watching -H
You would totally love Leadville!
The man needs to point out more sights. The Hennesy Building and the 6th . floor etc
Noted Jim.
Windy and still cold. Is this a rural part of Montana? How do we pronounce Butte? But? Bu - te?
It’s actually a significant city in our state but gets very rural very fast as you leave town. It’s pronounced ‘Byoot’. Thanks for the comment. Glad to hear from you again. -Henry
@@CityWalks I see. Thanks. Much like "Boot". I read you mentioned you'd like to visit India. Is that on your travel list? I've been staying away from youtube. And now I'm back :) I hope you are having a nice time.
Personally, I like the walking narratives. Like to know what we're observing and personal insights. To those who object to the talking ..... there's a mute button.
Great feedback. Thanks for letting me know and for watching. -Henry
how do you keep video so steady?
I use a gimbal. Thanks -H
Very less population
Yes, very. Not crowded at all. Thanks. -H
