In this one, we fly out of RDU to IAD to HND to start our trip to Japan in the middle of August 2023. After a grueling 14 hour flight from IAD to HND, we needed to figure out how to spend another 5 - 6 hours awake to beat jet lag. After picking up our JR Pass and Welcome Suica Cards, we took the monorail into Tokyo to the APA Hotel in Ueno Hirokoji. We give a room tour, wander Akihabara, get dinner at Gyokatsu Motomura, and tell some stories about our first experiences with bidets in Japanese Bathrooms.

Japan was one of the best places for my guy health. Lots of walking and very fresh food.

I’m so glad! The walking was certainly good for me, and we loved the food!

There are vending machines with water everywhere, the airport, train station, on the street and even in your hotel. I feel Japan isn't a place for you and that's OK, everyone doesn't have to like Japan.

By the end of the trip, we probably spent a couple hundred dollars on vending machine purchases to stay hydrated in the heat, and I ended up loving Japan. I just was a little delirious from the jet lag on the first night. We should have the next video in the series coming out Wednesday night. Thanks for watching!

Did Robert just say that nobody in Japan has body odor? If he’s not joking. How??? Is it the food they eat? Lol he just taught me something new 😂

The gene ABCC11 controls the development of apocrine sweat glands. These glands release lipids and proteins that bacteria digest producing the strong smell of sweat. 80 - 95% of Japanese and Korean people have a mutation in this gene reducing the number of apocrine sweat glands that they have, thus significantly reducing their body odor. Because of this, it's almost impossible to find real deodorant, and even though it's hotter and more crowded than anywhere in the US, you smell almost no body odor.

@@linneanelsonvlogs that’s a dream lol and wow how amazing. I recall hearing something about this once in my lift and had no idea how. Thank you for the detailed explanation. I don’t know if you are still traveling but I really hope it was everything and more than you expected.

😂 omg the toilet situation 😂😂😂 it’s like a 3 in one bathroom. Very tight spaces. You guys are going to have a lot of fun it seems like. Enjoy!

Yeah, it was super tight, but thankfully, it wasn't a completely wet bath with no separation between the toilet and the shower. However, we definitely encountered some bathrooms where the floor itself was a drain, and there was a detachable shower head that could just be sprayed anywhere.
