In this video, we review the 9 Healing Bath Houses of Shibu Onsen in Nagano Prefecture. The local myth is that bathing in all 9 onsen will cure you of all diseases and ensure that you live a long, healthy life. Unlike many more modern towns, Shibu has a very rustic vibe to it and feels largely unnoticed by western tourists. We spent a beautiful few days here (as documented in our other vlogs) where we literally immersed ourselves in Japanese bath culture.

Glad you went. So few RUclipsrs film this unique and gorgeous place. My wife and I were there last April (it snowed) and did all 9 baths.
Glad you enjoyed the video! We really found a lot of the smaller places in Japan to be as beautiful or nicer than some of the major cities. We also made daily vlogs on visiting the Jigokudani Monkey park, a review of Kaiseki food, and the trip from Tokyo to Shibu Onsen stopping in Nagano and Obuse. Honestly, out 2.5 days in Nagano might have been the best part of our entire trip!
@@linneanelsonvlogs Several other little Onsen towns we went to last year were Kannawa (Peppu), Shiobara, Iizakionsen, Yumura Onsen, Ikaho and Naruko Onsen. All different and accessible.
