I know video is a bit old but i'd still ike to ask. Did you have any problem with the power button in windows? I can't for the life of me figure it out. It works fine outside windows and i use it to power on the pc fine. But when loaded into windows it does aabsolutely nothing. I checked in power settings and it is set to do a shutdown, and google did not help me.
The power button on ThinkPads doesn't work if you press it quickly while the computer is on. Press it for about one second (not longer, otherwise you'll do force power off).
I tried installing windows 10 1809 (Yes i use windows 7 still to this day), but i had a problem installing the video driver , even tho its the same installer which worked fine in windows 7 64bit , i tried running in compatibility mode still wont work I downloaded all the drivers that do work in windows 7 . It only shows the " turbo boost driver " even tho it should show the hd graphics and the turbo boost one , Is it because 1809 is too new or old for the driver ?? Would like to see it running w10 fine
Windows 10 1809 is awfully outdated (support ended in November 2020, just a few months after Windows 7). You should install Windows 10 22H2, which works fine on this computer with 8 GB of RAM and a SATA SSD. You can find most drivers on the "optional" section of Windows Update. If you don't care about security updates, it's better to just install Windows 7.

On another Windows computer, go to www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 download the tool and use it to create installation media USB drive. Then put that USB drive in your T410, boot from it, and use it to re-install Windows 10
Not all T410 units have Bluetooth. Check for driver updates on Windows Update (including optional updates). If you still don't see Bluetooth in Device Manager or Windows settings, your computer doesn't have it. You can buy a cheap Bluetooth USB adapter.
hi , man I have a problem with my T410 .Couple days ago I installed my T410 through windows10(I got this iso from Microsoft web ) USB diver made rufus . After finishing full installation of windows10 , I keyed in windows 7 pro key of T410 ,and saw the information on T410 screen .. OS couldn't be activated ... So I feel confused : how to your windows10 be activated ? Please tell me . Thank you very much .
Unfortunately the free Windows 10 activation with Windows 7/8 product key no longer works since late 2023. The OS will still work, but you can't activate it without buying a new Windows 10 or 11 license. (Windows 11 license can be used to activate Windows 10)
CMOS battery or BIOS update have nothing to do with RAM. Check that your RAM sticks are installed correctly. If it doesn't help, download MemTest86 www.memtest86.com/download.htm (scroll down to Older Versions and get V4) and burn it to a CD/DVD or write it to a USB drive. Then boot from it and use it to check your RAM. To update the BIOS you just download the update file (6iuj29us.exe), run it and follow the instructions.
Maybe someone can help me as to figuring what is next to the ram slot when you turn it upside down to upgrade the ram. Can some sort of ssd be installed on it in that particular port? On the t440p I’ve installed an m.2 2242 ssd but that particular one won’t work on the 410. Any suggestions would be helpful
The other slot next to the RAM slot at the bottom of the T410 is Mini PCI Express, which on this computer is designed for the WWAN (cellular data) card. If you want to install an SSD it has to be SATA.
I know it's been a while since you posted this video, but, How did you install W10 in this laptop? I have a T410 with a virus and I want to (like you) a clean install of W10 pro. Do you have a tutorial or the steps to do it?
You install it just like on any compatible computer: create an installer USB drive (for example with Microsoft's media creation tool: www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 ) and boot from it (on this computer you press F12). If it asks for a product key, enter your Windows 7 one (it's on a sticker under the battery). Then format or delete the partition where your previous OS was (this will delete everything), and finally you can install. For detailed instructions, search "clean install windows 10". After the clean installation you have to install drivers, most of which are from Windows Update optional section.
hello!, i did an fresh install of windows 10 pro. (from microsoft site), i installed the fingerprint driver from windows update. the problem is, when i open setting > accounts. it freezes, but if i unistall the driver it opens normaly. what i need to do?
What you see in this video is a clean installation of Windows 10, no upgrade. I don't remember each driver exactly, but I got drivers from Windows Update (optional updates) or the Lenovo web site download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/T410.html
Connect with Ethernet and run Windows Update, it should find and update drivers (sometimes they're under the "optional" section). Otherwise, find the drivers here: pcsupport.lenovo.com/it/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-l-series-laptops/thinkpad-l420/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Networking%3A%20Wireless%20LAN (Windows 8 drivers will work on Windows 10)
I have a t410 lenovo laptop, i m try to upgrade Windows 10 but not upgraded.. When i m enter boot hhd then left uper side only - show, help plz to upgrade
On another Windows computer, use the media creation tool to create a Windows 10 installation DVD or USB drive: www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 then boot from it on your T410 and try the repair option (not install). If the repair doesn't work, you'll have to install Windows 10 from the beginning. (If it asks for a product key, enter your Windows 7 one)
I have almost the same laptop as you! Except it’s by dell, and when i try to install 8gb of ram in it, it just doesn’t boot. Maybe it’s because I’m mixing compatible ram with incompatible?
The same way you install Windows 10 on any compatible PC: use the media creation tool www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 I did a clean installation, which removes everything from the hard drive before installing, but you can also upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 if you want.
No, Windows 10 doesn't require UEFI. Download the media creation tool and use it to create an installation USB drive. Then you can boot from that USB drive. It will work either in UEFI mode or legacy mode (for older computers like this T410)
If you want to start over from scratch (deleting everything on your computer), look up "windows 10 clean install" and you'll find plenty of guides. If you have Windows 7/8 and you want to upgrade to 10 without deleting anything, just go to www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 Download the tool and use it to upgrade. I've also done a video about it: ruclips.net/video/Ha6n2m3tcgs/видео.html

i have lenovo t410, I'm also looking into this topic, but somehow found it, My laptop is also not working win 11 Let me know (mr sinivas) if you have Win 11 installed on u r lap
Even if you install Windows 11 manually, Microsoft is blocking Windows 11 updates on any computer that isn't officially supported. You need 8th gen Intel Core (Coffee Lake) or newer, or 2nd gen AMD Ryzen or newer, and you must have TPM 2.0 (1.2 is not enough). So do not install Windows 11 on an unsupported PC. Even 6th gen Skylake is "too old" for Windows 11.

I just looked it up because I didn't test it very much. Yes, in this computer the wireless and Bluetooth are on separate cards. The latter is recognized by Windows 10 as "Generic Bluetooth Adapter". And I found out when you put this T410 running Windows 10 in sleep mode and then wake it up, Bluetooth stops working (it even disappears from Device Manager) and you can't turn it back on until you restart. If your CPU temperature is significantly higher, you probably have to remove dust from inside your computer. Or take it apart, remove the cooling fan, clean out the thermal paste and apply new thermal paste, but it's more difficult.
@@TheComputerGuy96 wow, mine is getting on average 65°C watching videos on youtube. You can watch videos and place tasks that can reach 83°C easily. I tried to install linux but incredibly it is slower than windows. I already opened it, cleaned the cooler and put a thermal paste that I have for several years. This is very strange... I tried installing windows 10 1809 (Yes i use windows 7 still to this day), but i had a problem installing the video driver , even tho its the same installer which worked fine in windows 7 64bit , i tried running in compatibility mode still wont work
I downloaded all the drivers that do work in windows 7 .
Hi. I use a Lenovo T410. May I ask what is the max RAM upgrade I can do with this one? Also, what type of ram can you suggest. Thank you!
The maximum amount of RAM for the T410 is 8 GB.

Not all T410 units have Bluetooth. Check for driver updates on Windows Update (including optional updates). If you still don't see Bluetooth in Device Manager or Windows settings, your computer doesn't have it. You can buy a cheap Bluetooth USB adapter.

Unfortunately the free Windows 10 activation with Windows 7/8 product key no longer works since late 2023. The OS will still work, but you can't activate it without buying a new Windows 10 or 11 license. (Windows 11 license can be used to activate Windows 10)
how did you update the bios? I could only find an update for windows 8.
That BIOS update for Windows 8 can run on Windows 10 too.
@@TheComputerGuy96 OK. thanks for the reply.

So do not install Windows 11 on an unsupported PC. Even 6th gen Skylake is "too old" for Windows 11.
