Guillermo did lectures/screenings for a few weeks in Toronto on some Hitchcock films. He would talk about the films before and after, and during a screening of FRENZY, he sat directly behind me. I peeked at him, and he was just transfixed with a big smile on his face like it was the most awesome thing ever. The dude loves cinema.
I went to one of his Hitchcock masterclass. I came to see Shadow of a Doubt and loved it. Probably the first time I've ever seen a Hitchcock movie in its entirety. I also got to know Guillermo through working on set for Pacific Rim.
This looks exactly like you would imagine Guillermo Del Toro's house. Now I understand why he makes all those awesome movies - so that he can get some replicas from the set to his collection:) And also why can't we support this guy with the box office? It's clear what he spends his money at and he sure as hell deserves that!

I just love how Del Toro never stopped loving his monsters, even if they didn't bring him awards or didn't make him a Big Shot in Hollywood... Directors now-a-days tend to forget why they started making movies in the first place, Spielberg forgot his first love, Science-Fiction and Nolan made an Oscar Bait as he was too desperate to win an Oscar. Really happy for This Polar Bear of Man, Del Toro's a cute Legend!

I bought "Pan's Labyrinth" when it came out due to the commercials and hype. Got it home and realized it was in Spanish with English subtitles and was pretty upset, but wound up becoming so engrossed with the story that after a while, I just didn't notice. It's such a beautiful and awesome film. :)
***** I usually go with the dubbed versions of films when I can (gotta love the bad lip syncing from Gamera and Godzilla movies), but for the most part I tend to avoid those with just subtitles as they usually require me to watch twice (once to see the movie and again to read what's going on). Well Jonathan Haidt does have an all encompassing intellect. You could even learn something. You might have to take notes and watch the video several times though to get a basic level understanding, but keep trying, kiddo.

I was lucky enough to be in Guadalajara, Mexico on 2019 when he presented his exhibition "At home with my monsters" where he exhibited many of the works in the video, it was incredible. They also told me that Guillermo came once a week and surprised the visitors by giving them the tour himself. Sadly I didn't get to go on the day he gave it but I still found it very humble and cool that he did that.
One of the best imaginative film directors out there. Must be a trip being alone in there when its a cold,rainy, windy night. The creatures that come out in his films, the majority of them are hand drawn by him.
In one of his talks, he explained how he had lucid dreams as a child. He would dream of monsters, wake up; and the monsters would actually be in his room. Wonder why he wants to keep them close...Keep an eye on them, I suppose...
You go into a wonderful museum like this, Del Toro's collection, full of irreplaceables...and you break something. He warns you to be careful yet you still do the dorkus. Nice job.
