I love the fact when they introduces the Spatial Audio , if you are puting surround sound supported headphones , they actually change the audio into surround sound-like and not like the rest of the video which is ... well normal audio

Actually quite gutted to see that the summarise feature in the Recorder app seems to be limited to the Pixel 8 Pro and not coming to the regular Pixel 8... They have the same processor! 😢

That web-cam feature is really late but really welcome, I feel like it shouldve been cross-platform supported since like the dawn of smartphones.
It's part of Android now, not just this feature drop, so you'll see it in other new phones too.
the feature is kinda meh, its fixed focus and on the P6 the main camera focus isnt in the correct spot for webcam use, the front camera looks better sadly.
The main camera looks just slight blurred and worse than my macbook

For the record a Pixel 7A (aswel for the 6 series) aint that old, I hate it when companies market pretty new phones as old. I consider my 6 year old moto to be old and and not my pixel 7 pro that costed 850+ only a year ago and doesn't get all new features like it could definitely run it already semi-feels like e-waste.

I have a Pixel 6a and still haven't received an update? I'm in the US.
I've carried two Pixel phones for years. They're usually different generations, but I love how Google maintains support and feature drops to previous versions. This allows me to "leapfrog" my upgrades and still have consistent features and UI between both. Buying them new and unlocked makes this a solid tech and fiscal strategy. And the fact that Google keeps making SIGNIFICANT upgrades to camera/photo editing well after release even going back two (or more) generations in phones keeps them producing superior photo and video long after the competition is obsolete.

Wow, my new Pixel 8 hasn't even arrived and I already feel like a second-grade customer. No AI features for me because some genius at Google decided it's the cheap one... am I supposed to want to upgrade to a Pro now?

I would tread carefully..I think it's worth it in a way. On device Gemini Nano should have come to Pixel 8 , even at least the P7pro and P6Pro for that matter. I understand Video boost etc takes cloud resources which makes it hard to support older devices, but I think it should be available for Google One Pixel 6 Pro users (like myself) , personally I'm disappointed I don't get Video boost cuz it looks like Pixel might finally compare against iPhones in video , where it was lacking until now... wating to see comparisons by the likes of Mrwhosetheboss or MKBHD.
Still better than 60hz 800$ iPhone though :)
They really need to change to Pixel and Pixel plus unless they are actually going to put a better SOC in the pro as of right now they are artificially limiting features and turning away potential customers or angering those who find out their pixel 8 doesn't have the features they thought it would

Guys, you have to make the video boost and other updates available to Pixel 8 also, not just for the pro version. You're loosing it to apple since they have the pro version that is small but has the same features as the pro max. You don't have a small phone with the pro features.
The small Iphone pro cost double the price copared to the pixel 8.

So they got the point and have a competition for the iPhone pro. And it's not about the price. I just want a small pixel phone that has the same camera features as the big one. I am pretty sure with some ported gcam app all of "killer features" that are available for Pixel 8 (pro) only will be available for 7 (pro) as well. I downloaded some ported version of gcam last week for my 7 Pro and magically manual mode for pics and vids is unlocked... Shame on Google they do not want to unlock pro mode on older devices...

Why doesnt the webcam feature uses autofocus on the main camera, the fixed focus distance on the Pixel 6 is kinda off and therefore looks a little bit blurred, the front camera looks way better because the focus distance on there ist tailored for selfies.
Would be nice to use autofocus/face detection with the webcam feature, also HDRnet would be a nice addition too.
It looks worse than my macbook sadly, shouldn't be the case with this much better hardware. Enable Software Processing and this ist an amazing feature
I was super excited to get the new features. However I am slightly disappointed that the voice transcript summarize feature works only for medium length transcripts, I guess for those that are less than 5 minutes.
It may sound a little childish, But i think pixel getting something like the samgsung's call recorder as a feature drop will be lit...
Then you can commit felonies with ease, haha. It's illegal to record phone calls in virtually every state in the US, and even if you make it possible, it's only allowed under very, very specific circumstances.
