    I still think bootcamp is harder than any A school I'll ever go to, except for SEAL training. I just finished ETN A school and it is the most academically challenging A school in the military yet I still think bootcamp was harder. I'm just a wimp.

    Hey there I got a question. I’m going into the navy around March for boot camp and I have a hmda contract as well! I was wondering if you seen anyone with that contract in A school switch contracts or orders to become a SARC? I wouldn’t mind being a dental assistant and going to school on the side either, but I would like to know if there’s opportunities to enter the special forces side!

    • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  2 года назад +3

      Hey Alex! Sorry for the late response but i had to reach out to a friend who has this rate and this was his response.
      “Yes so if he wants SARC SMT or DMT he has to have an HM-ATF contract the major issue people are told is you can switch from HMDA which is not true take blodgett (our classmate in corps school) for example he was told he could screen in for SARC and he had an HMDA and the chief of the HMATF program told him only Jesus or the CNO could get the contract changed lol so it’s pretty much impossible no matter what the recruiter said. The only way now is to have a HM ATF contract when I went through they were letting guys screen in with regular HM contracts but to my understanding they stopped that. But you can always screen in after 2 years at your command but its a lot harder from what I’ve heard. In my opinion if he wants to do one of the HM ATF jobs which is SAR MED TECH, DIVE MED TECH or SPECIAL AMPHIBIOUS RECON CORPSMAN he should wait on a HM ATF contract or odds are he’s not going to get into one of those programs for a few years and each of these programs take about 2-3.5 years to complete the navy. Website gives some false info. But if you can get it I’m about to finish the SMT pipeline and I know guys in each pipeline that could give advice”
      I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    How's life and navy life balance? Are you able to see your family during your time in the military? How are you able to take advantage of college classes while in the military? Lastly how to get the most when wanting to do IT in the navy

    • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  2 года назад +3

      Hi!
      So for me life and navy life balance is great, i work full time and go to school full time. I take online class with my school that requires me to be logged in and participate like a normal classroom setting and i go to school monday - friday every night from 5:30pm- 10:00pm. Everyone is different and some people can get overwhelmed and or stressed out by my schedules so it’s really up to each individual. I still have a home to look after as well as pets and all the things that come along with those two things. I see my husband every six months due to us both being military and him having a different leave schedule than i do. The rest of my family i see periodically whenever it is that they want to visit me here where i’m stationed. And yes, you can take advantage of school while being in the military by using FAFSA. If this is something you’re interested in i am more than willing to help you once you become active duty so i can show you how things are filled out. And to answer your last question how to get the most really depends on you. All the doors are there, the opportunity is always there, now it’s up to you to go after it and to make the difference in your life because no one is going to do it for you !

      @@kellypriscilla718 u have a 9-5 job. You are young and giving people false hope here. Most ratings do not have that 9-5 luxury! So telling everyone there is no reason u can't go to college. Unfortunately u r wrong. Get your feet wet, gain some experience and get to know other ratings before posting videos. Your could be held liable for false info and be sued. Be careful. AND please make a correction on your video. Everyone else has to add in PT plus watch duties. People need to expect the truth. U should have said, what it's like for a corpsman raring. Because most everyone else will NOT have it as easy as you. Nor the luxury of getting the time to go to college. U have a luxury, and explain that. NAVY does not have to allow to time off to go to college! Many I knew were NOT granted time off. In fact, I didn't know anyone at all, unless it was online. NOT every person will have access to computers like I either or great internet service. So it all depends. Be wise. And get to know the Navy just a bit more. With all respect to you. @@hawaiibound62 Respectfully whomever you are, i do NOT have a 9-5 job. Never once have i said that and never once have i advertised my rate as a luxury or that the other rates have that luxury. I am not wrong, i’ve always said since the get go this is MY EXPERIENCE thus far. I know plenty about not only my job but the jobs of my peers that serve along side me so you commenting that i need to get my feet wet and gain some experience and get to know other ratings is pretty funny and i don’t need to make a correction to my video because never have i once said something false or advertised something that it’s not. I stand watch and I PT just the same as everyone in the fleet, nothing has ever “come easy for me” but how would you know if you’ve never even met me you only know what i’ve said thus far in my videos, and if one wants to go to college it’s up to them to make the time for it and i’ve said that time and time again. No one said that you need to take time off to go to school because it’s doable to work and go to school your probably making excuses for yourself and for others when you say that because you think that you need to take time off from work to attend school. I don’t have to “be wise” because i am but again how would you know if you don’t even know me? Everyone that watches my video on my channel hears the truth and knows the truth because never have i once withheld that from them and you can see that for yourself in the comments when i reply to people and when i have one on one conversations with people. You all please don’t clown me but I have a serious question. How long do you have to stand at attention in navy boot camp? Someone told me practice staring at a door for hours in formation to prepare myself for boot and I’m like huh? Do RDCs make you stand like a statue in formation at bootcamp and if so for how long?

    • @kellypriscilla718
      @kellypriscilla718  2 года назад +6

      For the first night you get there you don’t stand at attention but you’re just standing around for hours waiting for them to tell you what to do next. Later on in bootcamp it’s up to your RDCs to keep you at attention or not. It’s a form of military bearing, if your division likes to play games and not listen then it can turn into a form of discipline. Just don’t lock your knees and you’ll be good. If you lock your knees while standing after standing for a bit you’ll pass out.

    I have some questions. After you finished your boot camp, how did you get your things which were already packed for a school? How much weight could you bring, like just a carry-on baggage or even a checked baggage? Could you go to your a school by your own plan or with other sailors, like military plan? When could your family start to ship things to you, to your A school? I’m a future sailor and my rate is corpsman. Thank you.

      Hi! My parents took a bag of clothes and i took it to A-School. Then everything else i wanted later on down the road my mom packed up a box and shipped it to me. It doesn’t matter the weight when you are traveling on orders and you have a max of 5 checked bags. You go to A-School with the sailors that graduated bootcamp the same day as you. Your family can start to ship things to A-School once you get a mailbox, they give you a mailbox like the second or third week of you getting to A-school. I hope this helps! Hey!
      So if you want HM and they don’t have express to them you’re not going to pick a job other than HM It’s your career in the Navy, you can express that to your recruiter as well and the liaison at MEPS when you get sat down to pick your job. Based on when you want to leave they will let you know what they have available for such dates. Don’t feel pressured to just pick a job because once you sign a contract for that job there’s no switching it around regardless of what your recruiter tells you. They lie all the time. If there’s the job available for when you want to leave that’s great but if there isn’t then you tell them you rather wait they should notify you if there’s an opening for that job but really you have to stay on top of the recruiter for that. If you read the other person that just commented under your comment it might seem discouraging but honestly you’re gonna find that everywhere in the Navy there’s always gonna be some people who are negative who don’t do anything to help themselves towards promotion don’t compare your story to theirs because there are so many ways to pick up for advancement especially now when I came into the Navy the corpsman advancement rate for E3 to E4 was 2% now it’s at 9%. The Hospital Corpsman manning (the personnel within the rate) was at 120% last year and this year it is at 89.9%. The manning went down due to a lot of military personnel being kicked out due to the vaccine giving people the opportunity to join the HM rate. If you want it go for it. I love my job and where I work, and I love being apart of the most decorated rate in the Navy. And i’m sure if you get the job you will feel the same way too.

      At first I wanted to be an LS but they’re not available that time and i saw it’s available if i go undes so i just chose that route so I could also explore other rates and automatically E4 if I reenlisted. After i got all my basic qualifications I asked my chain of command if I could do On the job training with the HM (i learned a lot from the LS but i lean more HM) cause we only have 3 on board and they need a female for medical reasons. Im a couple points off my asvab score so I talk to our command career counselor and after waiting for a month or so we finally got a response, do some more paperwork then i moved from deck division to hm. I got my orders couple days after to go to A school next year and ill be 3rd class after graduation and hopefully pick the C school right away so i can have a proper schedule to finish my college.
