    • @Long-nd8bq
      @Long-nd8bq 2 года назад +1

      Truck Norris makes more torque than any of the BTR cams and only a few less peak HP than the Stage 4 v2. If you have a single cab race truck with like a 4200 stall then the stage 4 is fine but if you need streetable power and torque and a stock stall converter or less than like a 3600 stall get the truck norris cam. I have a Yank 3000 in mine that stalls around 2500 on the street and I just ordered the truck norris cam today. I tow with my truck still so I need low end torque more than top end peak power.

      Richard Holdner did a video and stated that the BTR stage 2 truck cam is the best camshaft to go with in them 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 truck engines. You don't loose any power at any RPM and maintain vacuum. The stage 3 and 4 cams you actually loose lower end torque over factory cam and gain vacuum loss. Not that its a bad cam or anything but the stage 3-4 cams are more geared towards offroad rigs. Im planing on running this Truck Norris cam in my 09 6.2 yukon with stock 6l80e converter/exhaust.

      I do not own this truck, I only tuned it. However I can ask the owner what kind of mileage he is getting now. Also FYI LSA is not a number you can compare two different cams with. LSA is only the result of how the valve events end up. Example this cam with a 107lsa will still be much more tame than say a St4 v2 truck cam that is on a 109lsa. There is much more going on than the LSA of the camshaft.

      Bro cam kit is $800 push rods dual springs and cam / or $700 out the door push rods behive springs and cam , from tsp i heard you can make it with a stage 2 cam with out getting a stall . I went stage 3 216 /224 110 lsa .600 .600 high lift my mistake went with a stall built in town for $300 n it was alright but compared to the circle d i went with 2800/3200 stall it was complete shit the circle d woke it up big time fun ass truck i went thru water n i guess “hydrolocked” the motor . I have a new 5.3 with a 233/239 .650 650 lift cam dual springs n push rods i havent put it in yet plan on doin it this weekend or next. But tha 5.3s had dod n vvt so i spent a lil bit more on that but the 4.8 was awesome wit stage 3 cam n circle d . So im hopping the 5.3 bigger cam same stall will be even more funnier and faster . I called BTR yesterday and they told me I needed to run a stall converter to run this cam. I was looking at a 3000 stall but I’m also putting in nitrous. Do you think I could get away with a smaller converter spraying 150 into it being SBE, with this cam? Also did you use stock lifter, pushrods and springs? • @drewnashty

      By smaller converter do you mean less stall, as typically smaller converters in size are actually for higher RPM stall. And if this guy can run with stock converter, deductive reasoning says you should be able to run a stall slightly less than 3k but the higher the stall the better performance you're going to get, just depends on what you're willing to compromise with.

    -Hughes Performance towing TC# Gm22belxtm with 1800 stall
    - Upgraded 4L75e
    -4.88 gears
    -37" mud tires
    - Possible supercharger in the future
    I know its hard to say exactly how it would combo together but Ive ran this setup with a tsp high lift stage 2 truck cam with 112 lsa and it was a little soggy on the bottem end with all the weight and larger tires etc so im considering doing the truck norris with a tigher 107 lsa to move my power band down but wasnt sure if that would be too aggressive for the TC stall if added some boost later....
    The power band with this cam seems perfect for 4x4 trucks but not sure if would have any major problems with vaccuum at low speeds or highway gas mileage etc.
    Any input is appreciated thx!

      You'll have a good time with this cam in there I'd recommend a 2500 stall converter though because while this cam doesn't have any low end losses it starts to pick up power at 2500 and it should help out tons with getting up too speed with those big tires

    how much power does it make in a 4.8? im heavily debating doing a cam and 3k converter or engine swap its almost unbearable how little power 4.8's have lol

      Just do a engine swap if you’re already unhappy with the 4.8. Honestly gears go a long way with drivability. The 4.8L has plenty of power. I don’t know of any small block out currently that makes big block power and torque which is what people want. Hell slap a supercharger on that 4.8L easily make 500+hp and 520lb ft at the crank! If ur still not happy then go buy an eco boost.

      @@lukemorgan3368 4.8s are powerful and good motors but they lag behind the modern day competition hard and they really don't tow very well they have no low end torque even compared too a 5.3 and the fact you can only really use a 4l60 or 4l80 with a 4.8 does not help at all since they like to rev alot unless your willing to use a 4K stall

    I wan to run this in a otherwise completely stock 2001 LM7 with a nv3500 in a 94 OBS. Sound workable?

      Being a manual trans you can get away with more cam depending on rear gears. Much easier than dealing with an auto.

      No this is a BTR employees truck that already had a truck st2 cam installed. He noted after driving it the last few weeks that it has notable more low end tq and does tow his S10 easier over the previous truck st2 cam.

    Can I run this cam with the factory DOD setup?

      @ShorTuning  2 года назад +1

      No, this cam is intended to be used with all standard non-dod lifters.

      If you want your motor to last a lot longer get rid of that DOD shit like I did. Honestly I ate a cam lobe on my factory motor after 20,000 mi That's what I changed everything.
