- 08 silverado 4.8, long tube headers, dual flowmaster 40, 3k FTI stall, built 4l60e, 4.56 posi rear, pretty much stock, the rear end went out so it got upgraded, same with transmission.
I have these same gears But with a 350sbc and a Th400 trans with a 3k stall and I love the wheelies it does.
Keep dreaming 😂
@@boost1728 keep hating 🤣
Lol cap
@@haydenhale2646 clearly you don't know how wheelies work. But go off fetus
Post a video, with you pulling a wheelie in that setup, and I will eat my thumb.
All these folks on here talking how slow.. 🤣🤣 1000 bucks on cam kit and lifters.. and maybe have some money left over for radials and he'll be hurting some feelings.
just go lifters, and add a 76mm turbo, will cost a way more than 1000 bucks but way faster
Guess it tunes itself huh
He might be tuning the truck himself.. alot of info and schools are out their..
@@MrKompkams89 cant tune without software/laptop. Just making the point that 1,000 bucks aint gonna cut it
@@caucasoid5645 what if he already had it, from the gear swap and everything else... I know it won't... you can't even get anything hp tuners right now that I'm aware of that's still why I have my MPVI1.
That thing sounds fucking amazing
The trans will need to be rebuilt soon.. 4L60E's do not like abuse... Well, not for long anyway..
I don't know if your blind or stupid. If you watch the speedometer jumps when it shifts into second because the tires break loose. The shift in this truck is actually a little harsh.
@@SquarebodysandRCs That makes sense that it was the tires breaking loose. I'm neither blind, nor stupid.. but it was soooo sweet of you to ask:-) I guess the last thing I would have guessed would be that a 4.8 could break the tires loose on a 1-2 shift.. but it does have 4:56 gears so I'm sure that's helping out quite a bit, and paired with a high stall converter.. Nice set up by the way.
@@Go69 It's 100% the gears, truck was and absolute dog with 22's before. The transmission is built and line pressure turned up, but the gears are what make this truck fun to drive. It's just a beater parts running truck. But it will smoke the tires like it has real horsepower.
@@SquarebodysandRCs what do you mean by dog? I just got a 2004 silverado 4.8 and its on 22 texas edition and k&n intake, what do you suggest i do immediately to be able to atleast keep up with these newer V6s now-a-days 😂😥
@@LAnd3233 Gears will help with getting it out of the hole much faster and not have it seem so sluggish. The gears are what made this truck a tire roaster. It wouldn't even spin the 1 tire a little bit. I added posi and the gears and it would smoke both tires.
Hell yeah bro, I have a 4.8 03 headers n intake. Ive beat a good amount of 5.3s with the same mods. Im getting ready to install new lifters n shit. But nice truck 👌🏽
Had a 99 with a 4.8… ran better than my 05 and 08 (both had 5.3), and would’ve definitely outrun my 2012 ram with 5.7. Loved that 4.8 lol.
So 80 is probably 2800rpms. Thats actually good
I was looking at doing a 4.56 gear with posi rear-end in my tahoe. Just wasn't sure how it would be on the highway. I'm running 24s with 295/35 tires. I just want to be out to get out of the hole alot faster.
At 75 you'll be at 2500 rpm, I got better mileage with 22's and 4.56's than I did with stock 17's and stock gears. It is also alot more fun to drive.
@@SquarebodysandRCs thank you for that information, I have really been looking at it hard lately. I also wanna be able to do standing burnouts. 3.73 gears don't let that happen.
@@TheOneAndOnlyGrizzly Here is a trick, measuring the exact circumference of your wheels and tires try this with a calculator: MPH X gear ratio X .70 X 336 ÷ Your tire circumference. If you have a 4L60E use ".70" if you have a 4L80E use .75. For example my GMC has stock 4.10 posi so at 60 MPH X 4.10 X .70 X336 ÷ 30 my tach is at 1,966. If you have a stall converter i don't think this equation would work but it does for stock 4L60E and 4L80Es
be faster without some heavy ass 24's.
@@Long-nd8bq Most cars have 28-30 inch tires what are you talking about?
I just regeared my truck and used the pulsar Lt programmer to match the gear axle ratios and my cruise control won't work..I didn't tune it because I assumed the pulsar was all I needed..has anyone had this issue and how did u get your cruise control back
What brand of gears ? I’m either gonna do Yukon or motive prolly motive because there cheaper and I won’t be making a lot of horsepower
Nice i have the same lights active on my speedo too
I miss the days of the little V8s.
Really? I miss the days of 400ci+
Something about “Daily driver” & having to watch the trans temp + check engine light just doesn’t sit well with me 😂
Yeah Chevrolets always shifts sloppy but holly shit that was a sloppy shift . That transmission will need a rebuild soon .
I have never had an issue with any of my chevys having a sloppy shift. This one sure doesn't have a sloppy shift. This one has a built transmission, and a tune so it shifts very hard. So hard that it spins when it hits second.
@@SquarebodysandRCs I’m definitely not telling you what your set up can do ore can’t . I’m pretty frugal about mechanics did you upgrade the parts in the transmission as well . I had a 1995 suburban that shifted exactly like it . Check the little balls and opening in the transmission . I’ve learned the hard way once .
Does it just have gears and converter, no cam?
Yes
Nice ride man, i beat a 5.3 swapped single cab Silverado with my 4.6L 2v P71 when it was stock except for 25% underdrive pulleys n 93 octane SCT out of the box tune, 2 out of 4 races, his truck obviously had more torque so he got me from a dig n a 30mph roll but only by a fender those 2 times, plus i have 17x12 widened steelies on 345/40r17 tires that weigh 84lbs each side so i had no gain in performance so he was definitely slow..lol
@@19shawn85 not if it had a 4.8L v8 first.. Plus, he still got beat slow or not.. Ppl won't be calling me shit slow one I put my TrickFlow heads n cams.. ;)
Yes, yes they will, all motor 2v's can't make over 400whp, if it's not boosted or on a bottle it's slow...
@@haydenhale2646 They definitely can make more than that, if fully built with higher compression pistons.. 9.5 is too low to make huge n/a power with a 281ci engine but even the 350rwhp most make is respectable, but keep hating on the lil engine that could..lol
@@P71ScrewHead not hating, I currently have a lincoln mark 8 4.6 4v, im just stating facts, hellcats aren't even considered fast anymore, it takes a lot for a 2v to be a menace..
@@haydenhale2646 i can agree n disagree with you on your statements.. Any engine is pricy, the 2v has seen 900rwhp stock with forged internals n boost.. The Terminator even more without being opened up..
What's your exhaust setup?
Long tube headers, no cats, 2.5 in duals with flowmaster 40 series both dumped In front of rear axle
You should takeoff those 456 and put some for 4.11’s.
Why? (Honest question i dont know whats better 4.11 or 4.56)
@@erikrincon2150 4.56 are to big of gears if you try to launch it to hard you have a very high chance of breaking ur rear end ,that’s why the 0-30 is faster then when u pass 30-40 and are in 2nd gear to truck stops pulling power down when accelerating -I learned the hard way
@@kevinobregon9287 even with a 6 speed trans?its cause im on a lift with 24x14
Lmfao
How do you like the setup? I wanna do something like this with 33 inch tires, do you think the big stall is needed when you have 4.56 gears? I don't plan on doing a gigantic cam
The 4.56's went in not long after the truck was bought new because I added 22's with 32" tires and the truck became gutless. I didn't add the stall until a little over a year ago at over 200k because the trans went out and since I was in there why not?
Oh and I love it. I have had 4.10's and 4.56's in these trucks and I definatly choose the 4.56's
@@SquarebodysandRCs I have a z71 and good god the 4.8 is not meant for 3.73 gears with basically 32 inch tires from the factory, I do lots of highway driving would you say the mpgs from 4.56 gears is bad?
I dog that truck and run 80-85 down the freeway all day and it never gets worse than 16-17., It did worse before. I also turned off torque management, that gave it a little more pep too.
@@SquarebodysandRCs how do you turn off the torque management?
dude, why you feel the need to get 4.56 rear gears and 3000k stall? thing id gonna be a chump on the freeway and spinning while going no where
I have 4.10 in my other truck and they just weren't enough. The 4.56's are fun, and they do fine on the freeway.
Nice truck!
Thanks
people think if u put bigger cam bigger gears and huge tires they are gonna be fast thats not the case theres alot of factors if mixed wrong canmake your truck run even slower than factory
What’s your trans setup? I have the exact sam truck except it’s a crew cab. Cam, long tubes, exhaust, heads, etc but I keep burning up the trans. Any ideas?
It's got a built 4l60e and I haven't had any issues, it was getting a little on the warm side, but I put a bigger trans cooler and now the Temps are good. I have over 100k miles on the transmission since it was rebuilt and its still holding up. You might have better luck if you upgrade to a 4l80e.
@@SquarebodysandRCs I appreciate it man. I’ll give it a shot and hope for the best.
@@Electrifying047 how’s it go
You was supposed to manually shift it to make it work
That trans is not happy
That trans works great. The tires are the only thing slipping.
Where’s the hard launch?
Hey man i have a rwd single cab 4.8 just like yours its even red! Thing is that its bone stock on 20s and its acceleration really is slow cus of the gearing should i get 410s or 373s? Its my daily
373. It’ll be quick enough that you’ll still be fine cruising
I would difinatly put the 4.10's, the silverado ss AWD came with 4.10's from the factory so it's not too low for highway driving, it will make a big difference, I even got better mileage after the gear change because it wasn't working so hard
I have 373s in my 08 single (it's red too lol). She's quick but sucks towing anything. Not enough ass behind her I guess.
Ditch the heavy ass 20’s and get 4.10s I ditched my 22s and the difference in weight vs acceleration was huge.
4.10 4.30 4.56
if i had same truck just with exhaust headers shift kit hd2 and a good tune ill smoke that truck with less mods
holy shit dude
My Pacifica runs that fast and it's a stock Minivan
y does it bog down?
It spins the tires when it hits second gear, it wasn't bogging it was catching traction.
upgrade the servo and have the trans shifts tuned i have the same set up but the 1-2 shift burn up my trans along with the 3200 stall not good for towing.... a trans tune will have way better shifts and shift timing vs speed and rpm will get the best out of it also
looked like his shifted good enough to spin the 1-2 shift. That's not a slow laggy shift like stock.
What is the difference between driving with the 3k stall converter vs a stock converter? I cant understand what the 3k stall converter does and what it is difference when u drive with one.
It causes the rpms to raise before the torque converter fully engages, this gets you higher in the power band for harder launches. When driving normal it just feels like the transmission is slipping.
When this truck is properly launched , is it pretty quick?
It's quicker to 100mph than my ext cab than my ext. Cab with a 6.2, it's no missile but it's pretty quick.
@@SquarebodysandRCs does the stall have good street mannerisms? You gone eventually cam the truck?
@@jclonemk58 Yes it drives normally with the stall, and yes It has a cam now.
@@SquarebodysandRCs This pos truck is slow as shit, should sell the thing and get a truck that actually makes power
What’s with the check engine light? Lol
It's got an O2 sensor code that comes and goes, but I don't ever drive this truck so I haven't bothered fixing it.
Trans temps 😥
154 isnt bad at all for a stall on a hot day
What rpm’s do u turn at 80 ?
About 2700, and 90 is right at 3000.
Can you run a stall with no cam
Yes
Lets no mention the horrible slip going into 2nd
Yeah it's got a built transmission, and the line pressure is turned up, so it has a tendency to spin when it hits second. It chirps the tires in second even on a slow take off. It shifts crazy hard.
0:37
No kema cuz
Maybe get a truck that actually produces torque and you don’t need it to Rev to the moon to make any power.
That would be a diesel, and I do have one, but since this truck is just for hauling parts and not pulling trailers it does just fine. That's kind of how gas engines work, the higher you Rev them the more power and torque they make.
Vh

Slow lol but nice
Still slow
😅
Kind of slow compared to my ecobeast. 19 3:55 gears tuned intake and resonator delete. Leveling kit true 33 12.5 20 rim tire weigh in at 97 pounds. Took a full second off quarter . Oh yeah quad cab 6.5 bed
Oh wow that ecobitch sounds down right scary. But since we are comparing apples to oranges my 78 c10 with a 200,00 mile junkyard 4.8 and a single cheap ebay turbo would eat its lunch. Just sayin.
the fact that you gave the audacity to call it an ecobeast. stop it. and dump money into A TURBO V6 should be illegal. no one cares about that dumb shit. LS engines are highly desirable and reliable. no one ever said I'm swapping my v8 for an ecoturd
Looks slow af
it's a 4.8l. besides out of all the trucks to buy you get a PoS dodge I meant ram. Cheap hp and torque. all dodge has going. looks slow af... stop it. it's a small v8 in a full size truck. Hemi got discontinued and bought back mediocrity.
Slow
beat him in a race. he most definitely living better than you
This is slow as shit my heavy ass avalanche would smoke this stock nevermind done up
LOL, sounds like you should take that 3 ton rocket ship to the track if it's so fast.
Ya thats a land of horse shit bud
The amount of stupidity behind your statement is astounding!
all talk stfu
That’s pretty pathetic for a single cab v8. The stock 3.7 v6 in my super cab f150 is quicker.
