Ramy Farah when I heard it I had a feeling she wasn’t going to be into it for some reason because she already felt Taylor Swift vibes and once she’s thrown off it kind of goes down hill from there. I honestly enjoyed the album a lot. I already know selena is not a vocalist. And she implements a lot of studio background sounds within her music. I also think the album gets better after another listen because it’s a grower. Rare was an intro to let us know she’s rare and then the rest of the album lets us know why.

On my initial listen I didn’t quite like it but then tracks such as “Rare” “Ring” “Dance Again” “Vulnerable” “People you know” and “Crowded Room” grew on me. But I still think that back when Selena was releasing music with The Scene, she had way better music.

You simply cannot comprehend the message, complexity, subtlety, or the 'differentness' of it upon first listen. I remember one album (Sweetener or Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande) that I deleted and re-downloaded 3 times off my hard drive. I slowly realized that hey, I like a couple songs on here. Then I came to like a couple more and then a couple more. It got to the point where I realized that the album was a masterpiece. It was just different upon first listen, something I wasn't used to and I was somewhat closed off to what was there. Nowadays, I have a 6th sense for that kind of thing (whether or not an album or song is a 'grower') because I've stretched my musical horizons time and time again. Maybe it's a good thing, maybe it means you're open to new possibilities in sound. Now translate that into your life and you're golden.😉 (c)
I think with this album Selena didn’t want it to be extremely emotional. She had been through a lot these last 5 years and wanted this album to represent where she is NOW.
Callum Sinclair I can see that. I think she could’ve given it a kind of “Evolution of Selena” theme though. Take us on a journey of the pain, the healing, and the rise of where she’s going now that she’s out of those dark places. Loose You to Love Me could be part of the epiphany moment and Look At Her Now could’ve been one of the closing tracks to seal that she’s let go of that pain.

I feel like the songs weren’t meant to have cool beats and it’s not meant to be the catchiest either, it focuses more on the lyrics than any of those things. I remember one album (Sweetener or Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande) that I deleted and re-downloaded 3 times off my hard drive. I slowly realized that hey, I like a couple songs on here. Then I came to like a couple more and then a couple more. It got to the point where I realized that the album was a masterpiece. It was just different upon first listen, something I wasn't used to and I was somewhat closed off to what was there.
Nowadays, I have a 6th sense for that kind of thing (whether or not an album or song is a 'grower') because I've stretched my musical horizons time and time again. Maybe it's a good thing, maybe it means you're open to new possibilities in sound. Now translate that into your life and you're golden.😉 (c)

I think with this album Selena didn’t want it to be extremely emotional. She had been through a lot these last 5 years and wanted this album to represent where she is NOW.
Callum Sinclair I can see that. I think she could’ve given it a kind of “Evolution of Selena” theme though. Take us on a journey of the pain, the healing, and the rise of where she’s going now that she’s out of those dark places. Loose You to Love Me could be part of the epiphany moment and Look At Her Now could’ve been one of the closing tracks to seal that she’s let go of that pain.
She doesn’t owe sharing deeply personal and dark moments of her life with anyone. 💁🏻♀️

I like every single song on this album, which is rare (heh) for me I actually bought it which I don't do often, I usually just stream music. I disagree with most of this video. I feel like Selena has come so far and has gone through so much and it shows in her lyrics and I really love this album

I really enjoyed her album. it’s her sound. it’s so selena. She didn’t want to make bops, she wanted to tell a story. I loved it.

I didn't like the album in the start but most of the songs grew on me, especially Rare, Dance Again, Cut you off and Sweetener place, damn those songs are legit, i love her voice, god i wish she would bring that voice when she performs and be more energetic on stage :)
