I've been a snowmobiler for 35 years and used to upgrade every four or five years, but after Polaris stopped selling new design four strokes I stopped upgrading.
I have a pair of '08 Polaris's FST's [four stroke turbo 750cc] that I've had for over 14 years, I'm not sure I'm ready to give them up for 100hp vs the 145 hp I have now., I only put 800 or so miles a year on them and other than losing an alternator last year they've been great, 17mpg running northern Ontario trails at 70-90mph all day long, I'm over 10k miles now but I've seen the same machines in Quebec with 30-40k on them Hopefully they come out with a turbo version to compete with the Skidoo
Something to note. If you get this motor in the Titan, it comes in the older Axys chassis. Therefore, there is no 7S display, and that is how the drive modes are controlled. The 2023 Titan S4 only has one drive mode.
Not sure if the twin is a mistake give the competition is using triples.... but could you image if they put the 4cyl with a turbo and intercooler?? I bet they would sell every single one of them!! Can't wait for the ST test ride on that monster!!
If it's anything like the RZR twin we all know it can be bumped up to 140+ NA and get really rowdy with a turbo. Aftermarket is gonna get creative with it soon.
A friend of mine has been an independent contractor working on a gargantuan effort to discreetly rebuild 1000s of late model Polaris sleds with defective engine internals. I hate hearing this, as it damages their reputation and doesn’t help the industry, nor the customer. Given Polaris’ recent issues, I went to the dark side and got a new Ski-Doo 4-stroke. Unfortunately for Polaris, I am not going back, however I wish them success.
Twin 4 stroke. Sounds like really good news in the early 2000's. It's 2023..... wonder why they went down this road when the best 4 strokes in the biz are Tripples?? 998 turbo....... :) Or 1049 tripple. Soooo much more potential power upgrades with a 3 lunger. Not sure what they are thinking but I'm sure they're smarter then me I guess.
TO me as someone who works on sleds and get's mad at engineers.. This is the same thing as the FST sleds that left a Bad taste with us ALL Except the MEDIA HYPE people. The FSt sleds with 160hp only did 96mph. Thats all they were geared for. Sure the S4 engine are going to be fine But working on them is going to be a pain for the everyday joy. heat was an issue for the belts and Engine mounts on the old FST. Heat is going to be an Issue in spring for those who like late reason riding on this S4.. issues at Minus 30 with the Drive by wire we already see at my local dealer. From a part's stand point. This is going to be a pain. Chain case with nothing similar to it. Clutches with nothing similar across the line. Just like the FST. The Worm gear is going to be a pain when it Screws up. For the Price. People are better off with a Ski doo or yam/cat. Least we get a heated seat and I love my heated seat.
Not having Off the shelf Parts.. to swap and change parts easy is still a PAIN for 4stroke Polaris. Why can't Polaris Figure that out? We people want to tinker and Not have special parts.. Like chain case bearing and jack shaft bearings.. that only the S4 have and are not available easy. .. Uggg
4 week season in ottawa ontario, last year I buy a pass. I ride 99% in north Quebec. Would I buy this for my wife? I take the Z1 and she runs the Tcat with power steering. Not sure where this fits into the Ontario market. 7S option? How about apple play with OFSC trial map on display. Polaris command map system is JUNK. I like the idea, I just need some options. Heated seat, 4S turbo , apple play. QS3 or an adaptation of the skidoo semi auto suspension.
I am on my 3rd season with an 850 and it has been flawless. Yes, the Yamaha 4s strokes are great, but the rest the sled will never hold up to a Polaris. How many Yamaha's were in the Soo I-500 this year? I currently have all four brands in the garage and have had all the Yamaha 4 strokes. I can tell you for sure the Polaris is all around a better sled, less issues and maintenance.
@@huronv9500 more maintenance how? The procross is a sold chassis. The Polaris sleds my buddies have had the same amount of issues as me. But there two strokes have to be rebuilt more often then my 600
I thought this would be a good 900ace competitor… until I saw the weight difference. They must have made every part out of cast iron. Around 100lbs heavier than a 900ace? No thanks.
Polaris has a very steep hill to climb into the 4 stroke market. With supposedly 100 more lbs. more dry weight than the doo 900 n/a it's not looking so bright for them already on top of no deliveries of the 4s so far, 1 year later...
Lmao the 900r is a spark plug eater? 😂 you’ve been drinking to much koolaid! Glad to see Polaris enter or renter the 4 stroke sled game can’t wait for the 200hp turbo 4S. Thanks for the info Mark!

Reliability and supply issues have definitely haunted Polaris in the last few years more than other brands.

If it’s about 90 HP then this seems like a great competitor to the 900 ACE. Love to see it!
Is the throttle lever reversible?
Great informative video, thx.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting to see what Polaris will come up with in regards of a future turbo....
If it's anything like the RZR twin we all know it can be bumped up to 140+ NA and get really rowdy with a turbo. Aftermarket is gonna get creative with it soon.
There was made a titan S4 Turbo allready in Norway almost two months ago, dyno'd to 196hp at room temp with 0.86 bar Boost pressure

And it's proprietary 😁
My 750 FST was a bit of a beast. Heavy but fast as hell. Worst engine in the world to service (oil change) I would just drop at the dealer LOL.
What about the frontier?
That what i thought they were going to talk about when they had mentioned Polaris using 4 strokes previously. They were before the IQ.

They need to improve the sound, muffler. It sounds like my MTD tractor with the throttle pinned.
Yamahas 4 stroke and arctics old 1100 Suzuki have more power and will most definitely be more reliable

Does Polaris actually make their own engines, or are they made off shore??? I’m betting most the components are made off shore.
many horror stories this winter of 850's blowing up
Calling the kettle black, brp are having problems also,so don't say polaris isn't good bud 😉
