Trying out the Reliance Antenna EFRW Bugout / POTA @ US-4215

This was a fun activation on a drizzly spring day. I went to park US-4215 Morgan Monroe State Forest to meet with the Bedford North Lawrence High School RADio and ROCKetry club. Since they are particiapting in field day on the GOTA (Get on the Air) team we decided it would be helpful to have them do a POTA activation to experience what it's like to be on the radio. It was a great success with them making lots of contacts. Before they arrived, I was able to set up and get the park activated and I had the privilege of trying out the EFRW Bugout from Reliance Antennas. Matt from Reliance Antennas sent this to me to try out as a lightweight antenna option for backpacking and portable ops. The antenna worked great and I was able to activate the park. The construction of the antenna is also wonderful. It seems quite robust, it is very lightweight, and the 3D printed winder is perfect for keeping everything nice and tidy. Thanks to Matt for letting me try it out and I am defintely going to pick up one of his EFHW to try out as well. I like having redundant equipment when I do remote operations because you never know what's going to happen and it would be a shame for an equipment failure (or you forgetting that coax adapter!) to ruin your activation. All in all it was a great day and I am very excited for Field Day 2024! See you on the air!

@@DonPorter-i9u absolutely. The Bioenno battery is great. I've never run out of power with it. Even during long activations.
