The Great Adventure Begins

  • The Great Adventure is not a new idea. Ain't no wild hare run up my butt. It's something that Shirli and I spent years dreaming of and planning toward. The sad exception to the plan is that I'm making it solo now that Shirli is no longer physically in this world.
In part, it is a memorial run in honor of Shirli. In part, it's just for me ... not to discover myself [I know full-well who I am.] but to sever some stressors that are pulling me apart and reclaim myself.

Glad to see you taking your time and letting your "build" grow on you. I think that's the single most common advice we give people is to throw a cook stove, sleeping bag, and cooler in your van, then go live in it. What will be will come to ya. 😉
Also, think in 3D, houses are measured in sq ft, vans are all about how you use all the space.

Nice to meet you. I like the God hand in things too. My van is called Dawn, cos it was the start of a new life, that's five years ago now, and my companion for the past 15 years, my dog, is called Fred.

I'll be watching for the Fred & Dave's Adventures. There's a lot of different air, trees and rocks to experience up here in my neck of the woods. If you wander up this way, let me know. Lots of State & Federal campgrounds up here also. Plus some acreage one one could camp on.

One suggestion for your stove set up. Those green propane bottles can get mighty expensive. I know a 20# bottle can take up room, but, it way more economical. See if you can figure out a system or spot to safely store a 20# and invest in a hose and adapter. Around these parts, it's pretty easy and affordable to exchange tanks out.
