    Wow Geo I’m so glad you add your extra touch to my idea of patina only the top 1/3 of the blade. Your added effort looked fantastic. Maybe can do a little hammering with your punch kit. Great job including the sheath. ❤

    A trick I find useful when stitching leather is to thread the needle, then pierce the thread, pull it down past the needle’s eye. That locks the thread onto the needle.

    • @2ndchancegeorge
      @2ndchancegeorge  9 месяцев назад

      Yep, I just saw that on avideo. Gotta try that. Frustration the needles coming off...lol. thanks for watching 👍

    Good looking knife George, I really like the blade. My Dad use to use a material that I think was called Plastic Wood. It was similar to your "magic dust", sawdust mixed with glue. I think he could have built house out of it if he had enough. Take care.

    • @2ndchancegeorge
      @2ndchancegeorge  10 месяцев назад

      Lol...Itvus a good way to fix cracks or holes or whatever. I use the embers clear dry. It dries rock hard and doesnt change the dust color. Someone just commented I should get some paint powders and make rings with it on the handles....hmmmmm. lol. Be safe my friend

    Maybe it did no end up as originally wanted, but the end product came out really nice, that hammered design on the blade looks cool, thanks for the video, George,

    Love delivery days! Two further thoughts - I really liked the idea of combining the saw and blade. Maybe do a retry of that one after thinking about it a bit. Secondly, the embossing can be done with a small carbide ball burr in your Dremel type tool. Its easy and quite quick. I don't think hammering a hardened blade is a good idea. Also try etching with ferric choride, and gun blue (cold bluing) solution. Although that (last one) will only work with carbon steels.

    • @2ndchancegeorge
      @2ndchancegeorge  10 месяцев назад +1

      Lol..delivery days..yep. I have been thinking about the combo and looking at doing it with a No 12 Knife and add the saw. I like the idea of of the carbide ball. Thankyou. Appreciate your support and be safe out there.

      @@2ndchancegeorge I've been looking at it and thinking about it. I use Titebond 3. I have medicine bottles with different colors of saw dust. Food coloring might work. Might have to do some experimenting. When it gets warmer

    Is your stitching punch flat? If so that is for lacing, will work but sewing punches are round. I also use contact cement on my leather where it overlaps before I sew.
    I like seeing ideas of others. Keep up the good work.

    • @2ndchancegeorge
      @2ndchancegeorge  29 дней назад +1

      That was a while ago...lol. I use Punches to mark now and drill out the holes while my dremel setup. I use tear mender to glue overlaps. Thanks for watching always appreciated the input. Be safe

    Instead of modifying the original handle why didn't you just make a complete new handle from scratch.

    • @2ndchancegeorge
      @2ndchancegeorge  10 месяцев назад

      That's maybe what I will do. I have a 12 knife coming maybe the saw will match up better. If it's a new comete handle. Thanks for watching always appreciated 🙏
