This is a painful flex, painful because it's impressive and it will be at least a good long year or few before I get to this level lol. Awesome video! Could you do an evolution of some of his Hungarian rhapsodies? I don't know just how many variations there are for each rhapsody, but I know it's a lot, like a lot a lot. Leslie Howard has played all of it but that number idk what is.
@@bartwatts1921 dude the point of the video wasn’t to “flex” if was to just inform that these etudes exist, in order to even learn just the first few measures you just have to practice 1 technique
@@maba8442 Actually, Liszt's "simplifications" didn't _always_ make the piece easier. Sometimes pieces are left almost unchanged, such as the 1st etude. And there's also the 140 -> 141 "simplification", in which I feel like the original La Campanella is less torturous than the current version.
@@pianista-mediocre By the way there was a plan for me and my friend to play Liszt's 2-piano transcription of Mazeppa together when she visits China in December. idk if it will actually be carried out though
@Schuyler Bacn 2 this was months ago, I only got back into playing piano this year after a 2 years break, so my knowledge and experience is still getting better
great demonstration of this trascedental etude

it’s not like he can play the whole thing, learning just the first few measures is ez pz, try it.
@@deedum1162 what an incredibly arrogant thing to say and quite derogatory to the post.

@@deedum1162 Can you? Play it then. If I tried then I could definitely learn the whole Mazeppa. I have different things to practice though.
@@zswu31416 dude I’m literally practicing Chopin op 10 rn all 12 etudes and I’m almost done polishing them I literally have my hands full right now
The second version is my favourite!
Also the one that I played the best here. Looking back I am almost appalled at how badly I played the S.139 lmao
Love this video that just compares liszt's work through his lifetime if i remember correctly from 1 version to final it was 40 years apart
S.136 was written in 1826 and S.139 was written in 1852. Not quite 40 years, but still a long time.
@@zswu31416 oh thanks for correcting my mistake :D ive read about this quite a while ago thats why i forgot how long it was :P
34 VIEWS??? SO UNDERRATED
your likes are underrated
The crazy that Liszt was asked to play long chords on s.137
Really good. Thank you for this video.
I think the second version is the hardest
It is a controversial question of whether 137-4 or 139-4 is harder. I think some parts of 137-4 are easier and some parts are harder.
@@zswu31416 but either way you did amazing , good job
137 are the hardest. Later..Liszt made 139 bcs people can't play 137.

@@zswu31416 Really? I think the s.140 la campanella is much harder than today's famous version
This is incredibly impressive bro, keep up the work‼️😨
I honestly like the first one. It’s unpolished nature reminds me of his 3rd concerto in Eb major.
s136 is still hard
Thankyou for this video
Die zweite Fassung gefällt mir am besten.
I think many of the S.137 etudes are superior to S.139.
Evolution of Feux Follets is even better
uh uh uh ok I'll do that when I get back from Ross Mathcamp, that will be 2 months later
@@zswu31416 Cool! 👍
mazeppa has s.138 version too
Read the description. The part I played is exactly the same.
s138 same as 137 except for beginning
Lmao do the evolution of S.140 N.4a, 4b and S.141 No.4
Seriously?
@@zswu31416 lol kind of, the S.140 No.4b is a bit of a joke

Lmaooo
I think you forgot the symphonic poem's Mazeppa
That piece is not in this line of evolution, but rather a separate related work
Ohhh omg this is awesome, I didn't know that he wrote several pieces on this theme
