Giovanni Dettori -- Happy Birthday Fugue
Просмотров 32211 месяцев назад
4 months ago, I came across this video: ruclips.net/video/nPU8ub_wiPs/видео.html I immediately knew that I had to learn this for my 17th birthday. And here it is! The ending is changed up a little, because my piano teacher complained that the original final bar is anticlimactic XD Trivia: I didn't spend much time learning this, just a couple days, since I assumed it was easy. But it turns out, ...

Not an official or even trial recording in any way, just a practice video of the coda of Liszt's Romancero Espagnol S.695c that my mom recorded in 1 take, thus the terrible audio quality and also some mistakes.
Alkan -- Le Preux (Trial Recording)
Просмотров 990Год назад
Recorded on a whim one afternoon. I did one take and quit because I was too tired to continue. Faster and more accurate than my live recording, but still with many mistakes. I believe that this is the optimal tempo for Le Preux (120 BPM). Anything above 130 BPM is too fast. Please do not use this video anywhere without permission (definitely please don't make a sheet music video out of this its...
Proof that Méreaux is crazy, Part 2 (Etude 45)
Просмотров 10 тыс.Год назад
Part 1: ruclips.net/video/YPOZu27JkaY/видео.html After the massive and unexpected success of the first Méreaux video, I decided to make another one, with the Coda of Etude 45. This turned out to be the hardest passage I have ever played. Ever. This is even harder than the Coda of Le Preux due to the faster tempo and the constant shapeshifting of the right hand as it jumps. Whereas the passage i...

Played at the Ross/Ohio 2023 Talent Show. (Sorry, the person recording me failed to get the first phrase of the piece...) This is one of the craziest pieces I ever played, and definitely THE craziest piece I ever played in front of a large audience. I can't even practice this piece for more than 1 hour per day without hurting myself (unfortunately, this has happened before...). The speed is slo...
John Cage -- 4′33″
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
The greatest piece of music ever composed. Happy April Fools! As you might know (or have found out just now), this piece consists of the musician not playing the instrument for exactly 4 minutes and 33 seconds, hence the piece is often described as "4′33″ of silence". However, this is in fact not the correct way to interpret the piece. Cage intended for the "music" to consist not of the sounds ...
Chopin Sonata No.2, 4th movement
Просмотров 2 тыс.Год назад
The infamous 4th movement of Chopin's 2nd Sonata. It has been said that every pianist plays this differently, and indeed, my interpretation has more dynamical changes and is slower than the most famous recordings (I would say the slower speed is to bring out the harmonies better, but it is actually because I'm just not good enough 😭). Despite being only 100 seconds long, this piece cost me at l...
Zen and the Art of Piano -- Chopin Happy Birthday Etudes
Просмотров 712Год назад
It's my birthday, Jan 17, so in this video I continue the yearly tradition of learning, recording, and uploading some variations of the Happy Birthday song :) Shoutout to David Michael Wolff @ZenandtheArtofPiano for arranging these variations! Original: ruclips.net/video/PgD-H69Ss_A/видео.html I made some small changes here and there to the piece.
Revolutionary Etude (Excerpt)

A few days ago, the deadly Urumqi Fire sparked a widespread series of protests in China against the zero-COVID policies. These protests are sometimes called the White Paper Revolution, as protestors would often hold up a sheet of blank A4 paper, protesting not just zero-COVID but also censorship. Inspired by these protests, I tried to learn Revolutionary Etude in a day. Obviously I could not pe...

ValkyRiver -- Studies on Liszt-Paganini, No.1 (On Paganini Caprice 5)
Просмотров 9752 года назад
Improved score of ValkyRiver's original etude here (I didn't change any notes, all credit goes to @ValkyRiver): ruclips.net/video/-OZn88GkvqE/видео.html In the spirit of Leopold Godowsky, I made the score look like a Chopin-Godowsky Etude. This means I included footnotes as well as fingering! And no, don't ask me to play this, I can't. I made the fingering by trying to play each measure at a ti...

bruhh
It's just brilliant!
The crazy that Liszt was asked to play long chords on s.137
Goodness…. What a piano. What a music piece What a leap in piano technique.👏
hao
You forgot your glasses
bro commented about that 1 year after the performance
악보 올려논거 귀엽다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Really good. Thank you for this video.
I love how much you’re articulating every note, that will add so much clarity later on when the tempo rises!
The tempo should not rise much past this point. 120 BPM is enough and allows the greatest amount of musical expression; Huang Yi-Chung plays it much too fast and rushed.
bro if you know that part you should learn the whole piece anyway
Doing this at your age is mind-blowing
Nice 😮 its so htad
Bro is insane
You put the sheet music in the wrong spot, it might be difficult to see there.
hype hype hype
This somehow is the ultimate intro music
you missed a note youre supposed to close the piano at the beginning smh my head 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Wow 😮 fantastic rendition! Better than the original. Keep it up, my friend ~
Wow, the composer himself commented!
This might be a sign to go practice
Damn if you put this vid at 1.25x speed, it really sounds quite professional!
why
The second version is my favourite!
Also the one that I played the best here. Looking back I am almost appalled at how badly I played the S.139 lmao
Liszt: gyatt😝🥰
Wonderful playing!🪻💫
you have a fucking great future as a pianist
this is really beautiful!!✨️
4:34
wonderful piece
Such a terrifying piece, perhaps the most difficult of his original works.
Nowhere close to "most difficult". Spanish Fantasy is like 10x harder than this lmao
@@zswu31416 Is it? I guess I didn’t look closely enough
@@loganm2924 If you need proof just look at this video... Do you really think I can conquer the hardest original Liszt work just like that? This is recorded in 1 take by the way, so basically a live recording. I'm not even "fighting for my life" (as is the case when I play Le Preux). I believe the reason why this piece is regarded as so difficult is because both live performances on youtube are quite mediocre. But after learning the piece I am simply baffled at why these professional pianists did so badly (perhaps they didn't get enough practice time?). As you can see, in many sections (0:15, 2:03) my accuracy and interpretational details far surpasses that of Howard's live recording.
@@zswu31416 fair enough. The spanish fantasy does seem a lot more intense, especially at faster speeds. The paganini fantasies as well.
@@loganm2924I’m not sure if there’s a tempo marking for this piece, but the tempo at which Howard and other recordings play it is quite a bit faster than this take. Not only that, those recordings are the entire piece, and therefore by the time one gets to the final section (this), they’re already gassed out quite a bit. This piece, at the assumed “intended” tempo (or the tempo at which other recordings play it) is far harder than any other Liszt piece. S 253 is nearly as difficult as this, but it’s still easier for sure. Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s something to consider..
nice
nice, better than me (not surprised) the fact that this took you only 3 months with your hand size is pretty crazy. my hands are slightly bigger i think and it took me like 6 plus 24 coda is easier than 45 coda from my experience, so this is also the hardest passage ive attempted ever 😂
*3 weeks lol, my advice to practice is to play it slowly and hold down each note before suddenly jumping to the next, this way your hand gets a solid memory of where things are
@@zswu31416yea i probably should have waited until my piano skill was higher before attempting it but at this point the coda is ingrained in my brain cuz ive been playing it for like a year and a half now lol
@@zswu31416just saw you mereaux playlist, id argue your coda is "better" because seonyong can reach 11th easily which is basically a cheat code for this etude. btw, it says one video got removed. whose performance is it, if you know?
The removed video is Chad G Music's performance. It was deleted completely for some reason. Somehow, I cannot even find his channel anymore.
Beautiful
Wow! ✨

Best performance
I’ve been playing some classic pieces like this, but ppl in MY country often does not find this interesting mostly becuz i’m in Asia they normally didn’t listen to this kind of songs. They were like “So you had a competition and you won a prize? Now show me those Pop songs”
In my opinion i Do like pops and jazz, i just want to arrange the songs myself those improvisation ya know.. i don’t wanna be like, oh here’s mozarts song play it just like he played and you’ll get a prize
It's not surprising. Also very sad.
Have you ever attempted no.60? It's my favourite one and if you do please upload it!
My hands are way too small for that...
@@zswu31416real 😔
Wowwww!! super good you are, what are some pieces you think one should learn before approaching such a monstrous piece like this?
Play some Liszt, the show-off kind with lots of octaves and stuff! You definitely need the stamina.
@@zswu31416 Right, so play just as difficult pieces to prepare for this difficult piece, got it😆
@@_Cyxnide nono, most of Liszt's stuff is easier. I'm not even kidding, you can learn the B Minor Sonata as preparation for this (although I have never played that).
Which of this or mereaux etude 45 require more effort to play in a concert in ur opinion
I've never played the entirety of Mereaux 63-45 due to my hands being too small to reach the 2-5 octaves.
this is easier. mereaux 45 coda is riskier than le preux coda
우와😊
whats your handspan? i have small hands so i can only reach 10ths
I can play 10ths in the left hand but not in a fast setting, I can barely reach 10ths in the right hand but its not playable. (And you say your hands are small)
@@zswu31416 well in my family yes because my fathers handspan is huge (he can reach 12ths) and my mother can reach 11ths
What's more insane is that it's meant to be played at like 1.5x that speed, which is just... stupid, and the only way that can be achieved is probably by sacrificing your firstborn child.
Mereaux never gave tempo markings on this piece, the midi makers put an arbitrary speed that turned out to be too fast
Its amazing, you should doe Lang Lang master classes or compétition bcs u can doe concert 😢
No I'm not that good also I don't want to become a professional pianist anyway
