Real words of wisdom from a wise man said from the heart with admirable humility Lee, one of your subscribers comented that what you say is common sense but that only applies if you have the knowledge and skill set to use it in the first place, many a time I have learned a new skill and then realised with the right thought process it is common sense. Really enjoy your vlogs Lee and at the age of 77years I still enjoy learning new skills. Looking forward to your next video. Albert from North Wales UK.
hi Lee I completely agree with you. If you are willing to learn from others, you can have a rich life. I would love to travel with you through your videos.❤
Excellent video thanks, I have been making all the mistakes you mentioned so keen to listen and learn from your videos. I am guilty of watching reviews on kit but get some value on understanding the kit. I always been a budget photographer so not had bells a whistles, I have just purchased OM-5 kit mainly to reduce weight and move into mirrorless. I work full time time and live in NE England but blessed with beautiful countryside and do best to practice landscape and wildlife. Always had respect for any living animal or creatures. I look forward to following your advice Thanks Barry
Lee, what you have said resonates strongly with me, I have subscribed and am looking forward to this journey. I'm just getting back into photography. I've invested in a silver OM-5, a logical choice for a long-time OM-1 film camera user! As a bonus I can use my vintage OM glass with the new camera, using a simple adapter. It feels like an old friend already. Exciting times! Simon d'Entremont is to a large extent responsible for my renewed passion for photography.
I am so glad to hear you are getting back into photography and the OM-5 is an excellent camera! Hope my channel is a big help for you in the days ahead!
Nice video - I’m sooo looking forward to our 2 week Tetons/Yellowstone workshop!!! Fieldcraft is definitely something I need to work at, but all bets are off if we see that white weasel! All I can think of is getting focus while we laugh ourselves silly! I like the direction you’re going with these videos, thanks for sharing.
Excellent! For example, for wildlife I try to place myself ahead of feeding wildlife and be still, no photos until the wildlife is within 50 years, at eye level, with good background. Photographer position and patience is what I consider as fieldcraft. I am in Montana.
Thank you so much for this subject. It does make a lot of sense and very helpful. I can’t wait for more videos. I’d love to do a trip with you but unfortunately I shoot with Nikon. I still get a lot out of you talks and wish I could do some of you OM only tours. Thanks again.
@@leehoyphotography yup, that’s why photography is a great hobby. Not only for creative purposes but historical purposes. I was lucky to have a father and uncles who took so many family historical photos. 🎥📷
Lee, slightly off topic, but still involves fieldcraft I think. I have an issue with the "Night Vision" selection on my OM1-Mark II (and Mark 1)--it comes on when I don't want it on, even if I have it "Off" on the menu or turn it Off in the menu after it comes on. I have this happening not only Night Sky photographty, but daytime photography as well. Is there a way to keep it off unless I want it? If not, IMO, OMSystems needs to fix this.
First question, do you have it programmed to a button you are accidentally hitting? I have never heard of this issue from any client, contact, or never had it happen to myself!
@@leehoyphotography No buttons were assigned to night vision. Have been having a problem duplicating it in the meantime--have reset my custom modes particularly--it is possible night vision was on when I set or reset custom modes, without realizing it. However, I also haven't been able to duplicate it recently in manual. So, hopefully, whatever it was (encountered it on my OM-1 also), is gone. I'll check my OM-1 next.! Thanks for the response..
I was only there a couple of days, I will be back on September 21st for my grandson's birthday before flying out for Costa Rica the next day! Watch the Precision Camera website for when I am in town teaching there!
Thanks, agreed, will think for even more before I press the button. But it sucks that the earth is flat and there are no other cars....🤠 In USA there ar at least one car…

Not all of Lee’s trips are OM System only - each of the trips I’ve been on had Canon, Sony and Nikon users, and he’s “fluent” and helpful in all systems. I’m a very satisfied client! 5 workshops so far.👍👍’s up!
Looking forward to these videos.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it and I will be doing on site videos for fieldcraft in the future!
100% with you on that topic! I sit for hours in the forest without taking a shot, only watching, learning, connecting with nature .
You learn a lot just by observing nature that helps with your photography! Thanks for watching!

I am looking forward to this series. Know you gear. Know your light. Know your subject.
Thanks David, the first one will be on finding macro subjects from Costa Rica!
Lee, once again a very informative video about the “how to” and much less about the “what I used” to get those great images!
Thanks so much Thomas!
Thanks, another great instructional video. Always look forward to Sunday utube videos 👍🏼
Thanks Deb!
Really glad to see you’re planning a fieldcraft series Lee. Looking forward to it!
I am looking forward to doing them in the field for you!
Thanks Lee, really appreciate you sharing your skills and experience. Looking forward to learning more from you 👍
Thank you John! Much appreciated!

You humble me with your kind words Albert! Thank you for taking the time to share that! Means a ton!
Another insightful video. I also noticed your Buc-ees merchandise in the back seat. I miss them since I moved to Ohio.
Thank you very much! Yes, that is a tiny trash can for disposing of small trash in the truck! I love me some Buccees!
hi Lee

The first fieldcraft video will be on finding macro subjects in the field! I will be filming in Costa Rica!

Love Montana! There are so many elements to fieldcraft and I look forward to creating many videos on fieldcraft!

Elaine, you can join any of my workshops that are non-OM System!
Another great dissertation. I have gear, need out in the field knowledge.
The fun thing is that the field knowledge is a lifetime pursuit!

A lot of what you said is common sense, but many has lost common sense. Thanks.
You would think, but it is rare to see many amateur photographers operate with great fieldcraft! I hope to rectify that!

How long will you be in Austin?
