    Andrew - if the roof boxes are original, bloody keep them like that and if you don't need them, sell them as they are. Great video and thanks for including the M119 powered V8 in your commentary!

    What an unusual color for the car when you are used to see them in silver or just darker colors in general

    I do love the 124s in all there guises, with probably the estate and convertible being my favourites.
    Are your roof boxes currently on eBay?

    Magnificent work Andrew, and lovely car and terrific colour combo! The early ones were arguably better due to the solvent based paint and I believe, the non bio wiring harness but anyway. Horses for courses. I have a '96 TE model and it would take celestial intervention for me to part with it.
    I had the R129 MOT'd today and was thinking about your comment regarding the w124 content as I was driving home when up you popped.
    In terms of the rear suspension issues you pointed out, as it is the TE model it is likely the hydraulic version, which I have been researching due to my own car and having to replace the "shocks" with used items from eBay. You can find the spheres easily but the actual shocks are unavailable from MB and nobody makes replacements any more. I found a company that could potentially refurb them but I need to send one of the old units over there, however just not had the time.
    I will advise when I have more to say in that regard or of course let you have their details and you could make your own enquiries.
    In the very likely event that someone knows better, I would love to hear from them as although mine are OK for now, they certainly wont be for much longer!

      Hello . The struts are very reliable IF the spheres are changed when needed !

      @KRAMPUS1933 15 дней назад

      @@BEGGARWOOD1 Thanks..! That is good advice, which I intend to act upon. In any event, I would certainly sleep better if I knew I could find replacement "shocks" (what IS the correct definition??) or refurbish the originals as it is an Achilles heel of sorts, particularly as mine has just under 300k miles on it!

      @@edixDD Yeap, this is what I’m worried about… but painting them the same colour as the car?

    • @edixDD
      @edixDD 14 дней назад +1

      That would make for a cool look i think! If you don‘t like it, reverting them back to white shouldn‘t be too much of a hassle…
      You stated that paint work is needed, i‘d get them painted with the car together!
      Also looking at that rear right window: welding work is needed as well, you can already see the rust creeping to the outside… usually it can only be seen on the inside under the seal, and even then welding work is mostly needed… Probably doesn‘t look much better on the left side too… That rear window seal is a design flaw, every S124, even low mile and otherwise rustfree examples will need work there if they didn‘t stay indoors their whole life. But don‘t loose courage, once everything is done, you‘ll never want anything else again.

    • @SpidersWorkshop
      @SpidersWorkshop  14 дней назад +1

      @ Fingers crossed it would be a cool look - I checked in with the guy who painted the Yellow SL and he’s into the project!
      I’m going to do a walk around video this week on the problems with the car, and will mention about the rear windows, and show you what the inside looks like!

      What do we reckon about if a car was optioned with headlamp wash/wipe system?
