Glad you’re back! I watched all of your maintenance videos for guides when I did my first service on my MX5, and I look forward to using your advice again.
I am doing great, thanks for asking and thanks for the compliment! I hope you're doing great as well! Will you tune in for the premiere? Would be fun to watch the video together!
It’s like he knew I was literally about to do this job 😂 love you bro you’re the only one I can find that actually records each step and doesn’t skip through
At work but can't wait to sit on my miata in the garage while watching this shit out although I've done this twice already but still can't wait to watch!
On the 1.8 you don't need to loosen the tensioner bolt all the way. You can still get the belt off without doing so. Helpful for a rusty tensioner bolt
No problem Michael, and it's good to be back! It's so nice to read all those comments and to see how many people I'm helping with my videos! It's great to give back to this fun community!
Great to see you back mate. Just bought myself an na mx5 few months ago and been doing a full restore on it and ur videos been real helpfull, Glad to see ur all good mate.
Damn you still have that one? That's so cool! Thanks for representing MiataMods for so long man! Will you tune in for the premiere? Let's watch the video together!
@@MiataMods bro I've messaged you for a while now on Instagram trying to see how your doing.. don't know if you remember me and my white miata from when you first started the channel and you mailed me out some decals and I put the little mm sticker on my driver's side mirror and you thought it was cool as shit and asked me to send you a picture of it to post on your Instagram page but that was a few years ago know. But of course I plan on watching bro glad to have you back & DON'T LEAVE AGAIN!! Hope you and your family has been well. Look me up on Instagram nola_hahn78
When's the alternator belt video coming? Love how clear the instructions are in your videos and I gotta replace the alternator belt on my car very soon lol
Good video. Will be changing my belt tonight. One suggestion. Lay out all the tools required on a tray at the beginning of the video as well as in the info bar.
Thanks for your suggestion! I've contemplated on doing this but that would make every video a bit longer so what I do is add all the tools and parts you need in the video description, sometimes even with a link to the product
Lol I liked the standard issue heat gun in the glove box. Just a tip for lining up the bolts on the PS pump, you can cut off the old belt cuz its garbage anyway and just turn it by hand
If you're doing the aux belt, it's worth doing the alternator while you're in there as it's probably not far behind. If you're lucky enough to have a 1.6 it's as easy as cracking the alternator pivot bolt from the front and then loosening off the belt tightening assembly. On the 1.8 it much more of a pain in the arse as the pivot bolt is on the backside of the alternator with little to no wiggle room between it and the intake manifold support bracket; there's no hope in hell you can get a socket on it and even a wrench is a struggle. Having the car up in the air on a lift will make it much easier. I suggest throwing the bracket in the bin after you've taken it off, as future you will appreciate it when it's time to do the belt or change the oil filter.
Hey Can, a whistle or whine can be normal, especially if you installed the belt that has teeth instead of groves. As long as the belt is not screeching it's fine I would say. You can always check the tension by grabbing the belt in the center and twist it. If it's too loose (more than I quarter turn) you can tighten it some more but don't overtighten it as it can snap or damage a pulley.
@@MiataMods thanks a lot for your response. The whistle noise bothers me so much I've decided to get another belt that doesn't have teeth and redo it all haha. From what I read, only before 93s get the whistle by installing teeth belts. Anyway, much appreciated for the great contents, as always.
Zeker, dat is georganiseerd door een bekende van mij, Leon Peek! Ik rij zelf ook mee en de teller staat nu op 215+. Het weer is ook top dus ik kijk heel erg uit naar de rit!

If I hear a whistle/whining noise after installing new belt, does that mean I have to tighten it a bit more?

I have a whistle too but after a few weeks it quiets down so maybe yours will as well!
How diffrent is it for the 1.8
It's the same, the only difference is the intake tubing
Where did you buy the belt? Btw great video!
Local shop
i gotta get around to doing this mine sounds like a squeaky toy on startup
Do it my man, before a belt snaps and it leaves you stranded on the side of the road
