Ahhh....the age old dilemma. So, this is an evolving answer. I used to just wait it out and stick to my trainer in the basement and hope for decent, mild weather. Then, I bought a heated jacket and I did a few tours in cold weather. 5 out of 10. Then, last year, I decided to just head to Florida and ignore the winter altogether. I also tend to resort to activities like running because my body stays warmer, whatever the temps. I'll admit this: I am definitely a cold wimp. I absolutely hate feeling my upper body go numb on the bike. Especially my finger tips. I rode the Schuylkill River trail awhile back and it just wasn't fun--well, the first part wasn't. I couldn't feel my fingers or my face for a few hours.
@@RideAlongAdventures biking is new for me, I was hiking & backpacking prior to this and I had to figure out how to handle the cold so I could do it all year. Now that I’m more focused on cycling (it’s way more fun) I have to figure out how to ride in the cold. It’s harder than hiking because of the constant wind in your face! I have a few trips planned out try to just suck it up, but Florida is in my sites too for the same reason.
I’m not sure how long it’s been going on. It used to be two big loops between Wilmington and Delaware city. A lot of Rt 9 😒 but they added the canal this year.
Simple Joe S here.......just when I was about to tuck into the multi-course Southern Virginia main meal, I find there's an appetizer! Always a welcome development. Looked like a great day.
Also getting back to the courtesy wave when passing, almost everyone there was polite and waved.By contrast I met my son Sunday and did a portion of the wo&d trail from leesburg to purceville, total opposite!
I appreciate your clever/creative/humorous use of graphics in your videos. I know that stuff takes time and effort to create. Just wanted to let you know it's appreciated!
This follows along the Delaware River and the Canal so it is super flat. South of the canal (some people call it lower-slower Delaware) it is flat but where I live just a few miles westward from downtown, it can get fairly hilly.
Almost more fun in one day than anyone should be allowed to have! Lots of cyclists enjoying beautiful DE and the beer at the end was the perfect ending for a perfect day. 🚴🏻♀️🍁🍂🍻
It was great. Hey, will 2025 be the year we finally meet up for a ride?? 😊 I’d like to come out some time and watch you race (motocross). Maybe we could combine something.
I know!! Crazy. I’m trying to plan rides down there as well. Not sure what’s up. I’ve still got your dates circled on the calendar. Unless it’s freezing, it would be fun to ride! Keep me posted.
Yeah, it’s an annual thing. If you’re interested in something in the spring, look into the gran Fondo during the Grand Prix weekend next May. I skipped last year but I think I’ll try again this year. Really shows off northern Delaware.
Thanks as always, Bryan. What a beautiful and diverse ride... some along the ocean coast, some along the canal, and some through the Delaware fall foliage. Very inviting... Nice family venture. I would need to get a Brooks saddle to do anything over about 35 miles. The seat that came with my bike is good up to that point. But then it starts getting sore. I just purchased a CFMoto 450nk commuter bike for work and play. No doubt I will be busy putting some miles on that, now that the weather has cooled off in DFW. No... I'm not a traitor to the cause... I just have a diverse interest in two wheels. Some things, like dedicated bicycle paths, are experienced much better at slower quieter speeds. Other things like country roads and keeping up with traffic are experienced much better on a motorbike.😊🎉 Gord
Awesome, Gordon. I haven't ridden in years but I grew up on minibikes on our farm and those are incredibly fantastic memories. I'm contemplating a truck "tour" next year. I'm getting sort of impatient and want to see a lot of places quickly so I may just drive. Anyway, I get it. It's amazing how different speeds can change the overall experience.
@@RideAlongAdventures Indeed, Bryan. Speed changes everything. If you're looking for a grand tour with total panoramic views... a motorcycle is the way to go. Gord
Bryan, a truck tour sounds fantastic... as you have figured out how to camp off the tailgate. Very cool... nice to get some real use out of that truck bed.😅 Gord
What do you do over the winter when it gets super cold? You ride anyways or wait it out?

Beautiful day and nice trails to ride. Great day! 👍
Good times!
I was on the Castle trail that day and saw a lot of riders.
The event seemed smaller than years past. It was canceled last year due to weather. Bummer we didn’t cross paths, Mario!
I didn't know this ride existed until I asked one of the rest stop workers.
I’m not sure how long it’s been going on. It used to be two big loops between Wilmington and Delaware city. A lot of Rt 9 😒 but they added the canal this year.
@MarioNappa just looked it up: it’s the 12th year.
Looks like a very nice ride Bryan! Well done sir!!
Thanks 👍

lol, Simple Joe. Beautiful weekend.
Poor southern VA. Some of those trails might never be the same after Helene.
Fantastic 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Really enjoy your content and your style. Looking forward to the next autumn adventure!
Thank you, Micheal. I’m working on two videos starting this morning. Just got back from almost three weeks of riding. The GoPro is FULL!!! 😁
Fun times! Thanks for sharing Bryan. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Dang it missed you there, my friend and I did Chesapeake city to Delaware city, great day for it!
Ah, bummer. We did the Wilmington portion first, then out on the canal. Wow, what a beautiful day!
Also getting back to the courtesy wave when passing, almost everyone there was polite and waved.By contrast I met my son Sunday and did a portion of the wo&d trail from leesburg to purceville, total opposite!
Today I flew into Islip, NY and visually previewed Long Island's very own, very new North Shore Trail. Very Amtrak-able coming from DelMarVa!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into it.
Terrific weather, great company and ending the ride with a beer makes for a memorable day. Let's do it again... :D Thanks. -Tim
For sure!
Know what makes a good ride great? Riding with friends! Thanks for sharing a great ride.
Absolutely!

Hey, thanks. I appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching!
Is Delaware as flat as it looks in this video or is that only because you are riding along a river?

Most excellent ride !

Another to add to my bucket list! Thanks Bryan!
👍🏻
What a short video, that's like a "Ride Along Adventures" commercial! 😊
I know!!!!! 😂
Great video!! I’ll be down there in late November, on my way to Florida ( if its still there)!

Spectacular day Bryan, thanks for bringing us along for the ride 👊🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice Ride 🚴♂️😎🌞 Taking Notes 📝
It’s a good ride. Beautiful weather.
@@RideAlongAdventures Is this a organized bike ride event 🚴♂️😎

Looks like a fantastic and fun ride. But, all REAL cyclists want to know - what was the wattage/speed gain from shaving?
lol. Now that’s funny. 😂
We all wish we could be a badass, and, or handsome! Great ride, great whether, great friends, great video! Keep them coming!
Thanks. :)
