It really is. I have listened to some modern attempts at radio drama. One was today's actors doing the Twilight Zone radio episodes and nowadays you do have a few podcasts that kind of act out stories or parts of stories. It doesn't compare to this at all. There was a real craft in acting for audio only that just doesn't automatically transfer from video/play acting. The acting and sound effects in these are superb and incredibly natural sounding. I guess it's a lost art at this point.

Me too. When my son was younger ( up to about 15), his favorite thing was to pretend the power was out. We would shut all the lights and electronics, and light candles and kerosene lamps, and the fireplace in winter, and read stories, tell tales, play cards and board games. There were some months where we did this every night. It was the best! It was remarkable that even though he was born in 2002, he recognized how relaxing, and enjoyable things could be without all the blaring music, tv, etc. He never really did watch much tv as a child, and preferred board games, gin rummy, and doing things with tools or his hands.
We still do this. In fact, I'm doing it right now, lol. Cuddled up by candlelight listening to radio programs and M.R. James ghost stories.
