    Lyrics:
    If I stand around
And watch them drown in a pool of gray
When we dive in, I can surely say there's feud with force
    Am I in your way?
Please knock me down, can I help you in?
When I'm not around let us all be found in certain ways
Dear Mr. Queequeg, you have been informed your life's been saved
You are not a black-hearted vicious mess so it has been claimed
    If this is the beast
Pulling us towards the east with mighty waves
    Let us look inside
And pull out all your pride, you know it's up to us
Holding pasts in ash black earth
    Bound by roots
    Roots into sand
    Grow towards the giver
    There's an open wound
Placed upon my heart, in anger's rage
If we open up a spirit, a spirit that can bleed
Ahab the leading lad we can trust his obsession carries them
    Meet us at the temple
Healing all the crippled, don't forget the maimed
    Lower soul
    Sent with gifts offering
    Teeth of hope travel with
    Child laid next to mother

Love this video. Prior to "Leviathan," Metal really was lacking in the grandiose, maritime shadow puppet theatre department.

This is one of the best concept albums ever recorded. The subject of Moby Dick is an amazing story in itself. Mastadon breathed life into it.

Brian Dailor’s drumming in this track is trully one of a kind. The guy is like “fuck rhythm machine duty, I’m riffing with the others”

I like how everyone says "Oh Brent is so awesome blah blah blah." He is amazing, don't get me wrong, but what about Bill? They're like KK and Glenn from Priest... Mastodon's guitar sound is because of the two of them, not just Brent.
That being said, the ending riff to this song is one of my all-time favorite riffs.

    • @rlznns
      @rlznns 3 года назад +5

few know that bill creates most of mastodon' riffs. yes, he's the real riffmaster.

Bill and Brann are the brains, Troy's the multitool, and Brent is the eccentric. Bill is underrated and from what I understand his vocals are pretty good live. Wish they would implement him more to add to their already impressive arsenal.

This is probably my favorite song on the album, which is probably a top 5 album ever for me. The song and the video just captures the whole strange raw vibe of the album. Mastodon does a great job at painting a visual for their albums. If that makes sense, or maybe im just stoned out of my mind. Either way... fuckin shred.

Whilst youtube generally lowers the quality of uploaded video (for space limitation purposes, I assume), I believe the fact in question here is simply due to the vocalist's vocal style. If you haven't heard the song much, you most likely wont be able to distinguish the vocals but, if you read along on a lyrics site, you'll be able to get it quite easily :)

Wooot! Totally agree!! There are some bands that are fun to listen to every once in a while due to virtuosity, but Mastodon hits on all cylinders of creativity and skill, making for a second to none listening experience sure to captivate!!
