Hmmm yeah these are definitely some big changes, for better or worse. Personally I tend to use Ordovis's Greatsword and the Crucible Armor. I love me some Crucible Knights.
I've been a little disappointed with Ordovis's on the whole. That being said, I love the moveset, weapon art and aesthetic. Just wish it hit slightly harder compared to the other Faith options.
New sub. New to the series. Loving this game. I love build vids. Glad to see some updates, even I'm not effected. Important that games of this magnitude are balanced. Looking forward to more content. I have a level 100 Sorcerer and currently trying to build faith build at 45
Welcome to the channel, mate. Very glad to have you here! I'll be bringing out plenty of Faith focussed videos over the coming week or so, and I'm dropping a 'My Build' video too. Also, welcome to the series. You've jumped on at an absolutely excellent time to be honest. Elden Ring is the most diverse entry yet in terms of builds, gear, abilities and how you choose to approach the game. I'll do my best to bring you some enjoyable content!
Mustn't forget the fact we have new night time music. The ost is getting ragged on a bit but in all honesty, I love the subtle ambience of some of the looped overworked tracks. I'm hearing it in my head non stop.. this game hath bewitched me
I really like the OST. I don't have music or videos on in the background while I'm playing because it's that good. And some of the boss fight tracks are absolutely sublime. As always you're displaying your fine taste, Slongus.
The barricade shield nerf makes it borderline useless. The cost increase didn't really matter, but the reduction in duration all the way down to 2 seconds makes it to where it can't even survive some bosses full combo. And with 85 guard boost some bosses can 2 or 3 hit through all your stamina. Effectively killed off greatshield builds until you can get the fingerprint stone shield.
It's a shame, because I honestly felt barricade shield was one of the more balanced tools to welcome new players into the franchise. I remember my first time on DS1 I would always turtle behind the shield until I built my confidence. New folks using that strategy in Elden Ring have been hamstrung a little here. I'm not saying the ability is useless, you can still essentially use it as a very generous "almost" parry, to absorb a hit during the startup, but I agree completely with your sentiment.
For me the sword Night and Flame is still doing 1.5-2k with the flame but only 900 for the beam compared to about 3k pre nerf. Hoarfrost Stomp is doing about 600 compared to the 1700 -2k it was pre nerf. A little excessive making the skill now useless compared to other options.
Thanks for bringing in some numbers bud. Hoarfrost Stomp was incredibly strong imo. Cheap, fast, AoE, good damage and builds frost. You could make the argument for it being over tuned, but I agree with your sentiment. I'm going to have to test myself, but that is a VERY big nerf. Especially when you consider one of the aspects that made the ash broken was using it in conjunction with a mimic tear, which has also been nerfed anyway. That being said, I was watching some speed runs and that ash alone turned end game bosses into an absolute laughing stock. For 10FP per cast.
A few things have been nerfed, but on the whole I'm happy with this patch. A couple new items along with the new questlines, balancing, bug and exploit fixes. If From continue this level of diligence and support the game is looking to have an even brighter future.
Damn it I'm angry they added more to the gatekeeper I was angry that they made his stuff so abrupt I just killed him Now I won't get to do his question line but that's OK I guess
A LOT of people killed him from what I've seen reading around online. Mainly because then you can always buy his stuff from the Twin Maiden's with the bell bearing. Not to worry though, that's exactly what NG+ is for.
I gotta say the bleed builds now are just annoying as hell especially in early-mid pvp, it’s broken like actually broken. Not fun at all, except for some good quality of life add on other then that, for me it’s a pretty disappointing update.
In my experience it isn't limited to early and midgame, fully optimized late game bleed builds are absolutely bonkers. I feel like they did a huge wave of balances on the most broken builds and exploits this patch. Next patch will most likely target bleed builds.
Currently working on a mid/late game Faith video, which will be more edited and scripted as usual.
This one was admittedly a little off the cuff.

@@SomeKindOfCyborg That's definitely true. It needs some love definitely.

Some of the new questlines give pretty nice armour.
I just got the sword of night and flame and I already miss it
RIP.
That being said... I'm sure it's still going to slap like the open hand of God.

@@SomeKindOfCyborgAye the godskin boss music springs to mind..
oh you do flatter me sir, you're a true Elden lord!

Like everything this is all a gain rather than a take away
