Blotches and scratches. I did this and followed step by step. First the Clean Slate, then 2 coats of Mai Dragon blue, then 2 coats of the matte sealer. The next day, I even added a third coat of the matte sealer for good measure. The first weird thing is if water splashes on it, it creates whitish splotches. They eventually dry and the color goes back to normal. It takes a while for this to happen, and I live in a very dry climate. But the big thing was about three days later, there was something stuck to it. Not sure what, it was small. I lightly rubbed with my damp washcloth, and it began scratching the paint off, revealing the horrid orange countertop I was so delighted to get rid of. A week later, I very lightly rubbed (more cautious now) somewhere else, and again a small bit of paint rubbed off. I've been patching with the paint, but I am extremely disappointed in the results.
I notice that in other tutorials they ALWAYS lightly sand the original surface before doing application of any type. roughing it up just a bit helps the paints to adhere better. They should have added that to their instructions.
Does your product work on wood top? I have just finished painting my kitchen cabinets and have a peninsula with a matching wooden/poly urethane top. I don't put food on it, it's more of a "clutter" spot (lol) OR can I use your Step 2 sealer on top of some other paint that i use?
Hello, could you do the faux marble technique on the counter tops? Is it heat resistant? How about scratches and staining? I would like to do my kitchen countertops in a Faux Marble (Carrera). Is it possible> Do you have a kit? Thanks. Love the videos.
100% agree. I would not want to put this on any counter until it could be seen how well this holds up to scratches, knife marks, and heat. I was hoping there would be an answer here from the originator, but it's been eight months since it was posted and it's still a crucial unaddressed concern. Let's hope she sees it and replies. I have a row of time along the back if my countertops and I know whoever lived here before ran caulk along the lines including the bottom. I was told I have to remove the caulk first. With this paint do I??? To remove the caulk would be extremely difficult.

Ace Hardware and Lowe's have some of the Amy Howard product line. You can also purchase online at amyhowardhome.com (She shows all three products in the video and then I linked to her site. I'm going to use this on my counter top at home as soon as I get the products. If I can't find them locally in Las Vegas, NV, I'll order on her site.) Fingers crossed. I actually just did this and it did not turn out well. Water marks stain the counter now and I’m scared to put anything else on it. Will have to fully replace my counters. I guess that’s what I get for trying to diy on a budget :(
You are the only kitchen painter who did not sand the surface before painting. Recommending sanding between coats is silly. If you didn't have to sand that shiny formica, why sand the matt paint? Sceptical this paint will last.
So overbearing. This is supposed to be a joint presentation. A case of you can force a horse to the river, but can't force it to drink.. madam Amy NOT Amy & Jim

I was thinking about adding a few decorative decals BEFORE the seal coat. I think that would be cute.
I'd like to see a scratch test done on this
How does this sealer do with water spills?
can you paint over painted countertops, or do you remove the existing paint first?
would really appreciate if someone could explain how I buy these products ?

Can this paint be applied directly to wood countertop instead of laminate? Does the sealer withstand moisture?
Is a very good paint. I did my laminate cabinets
I actually just did this and it did not turn out well. Water marks stain the counter now and I’m scared to put anything else on it. Will have to fully replace my counters. I guess that’s what I get for trying to diy on a budget :(
That's why they did not do their own counter top....just a 'piece' of one....
Is that heat resistant?
This paint is fantastic I am painting my cabinet with it
Would love an update since it's been four years. How is it looking???
do you ship to Canada?
Yes we do!

I am not sure I would trust a water based sealer on my countertop.
You never show the sealer .. so what’s the point of the video if you don’t show all the materials
I thought the sealer was the little black can??????
She said Amy Howard matte sealer.
Wow, you're not even gonna let the man introduce himself. Show some respect.

As a Christian I find your response completely out of line.
