Just some corrections! Working as an exchange/international student: You can get a part-time job on a student visa with the permission of your university in Korea, as a foreigner expect getting bar/restaurant/shop jobs in the touristy areas and Itaewon. I had a lot of foreign friends with part-time jobs when I was an exchange student, I don't think it's very difficult to get a part-time job if you know some Korean and English. Applying for visas: You do apply and renew your visa yourself directly, the exception is if you have an employer sponsoring your visa or you're employed by the Korean government.
I think it would be really cool to have a - 10 Things I love about Korea (lived here ~time) - 10 Things I dislike (if you want, controversial @.@) - Favorite spots in Korea! Sorry but I have to disagree with u regarding being a vegan and going out with Korean friends: if your friends love and accept you the way you are (which they certainly should as your friend), it is not difficult AT ALL to just take them to a vegan restaurant!! I know what Im talking about as a vegan myself who lives in Korea for several years... and believe me no one who ever went to a veg place with me was disappointed ever - the opposite was the case: they loved the food/drinks~ I can see with your answers how (not) important animal lives are for u, but thats your choice~ (maybe you've changed over time and learned to stand up for your principles by now - I hope it for the animals). If u need some restaurant recommendations, let me know, I can give u a list of my fav eateries (Korean and Western food, incl bakeries and ice cream shops!) or u just download the (free) happy cow app and see how many choices u and your friends have to not support cruelty ^^
It sounds like your friends have very particular taste in this matter and generally doesn’t care much where they go. My friends and I go out a lot, specifically to good 술집 to drink. Go to a vegan restaurant? Sure, but you can’t get cheaper alcohol and soju. I have a big group of friends, and they can’t prioritize me every time we are out and they definitely shouldn’t be called bad friends just because they don’t wanna do that.

I am a vegan in Korea. There are plenty of places to get vegan dishes. Plus I do love cooking. Every year we have a nice big vegan festival in Seoul.😊
