I'm moving at the end of the year and your videos are giving me some useful information in narrowing my choices. I will be a renter. It would be helpful if you touch on apartment rentals prices and neighborhoods within the cities that are good for newcomers.
As a resident or McDonough Georgia the only thing we’re needing is a whole food or Trader Joe store so we don’t have to go in the city of Atlanta.
Yeah I live in Newton County to the east and I would like to not go to upper Dekalb for a whole foods
Any tips for life in McDonough? Im moving there by myself in like 2 weeks from the other side of the world haha
@@classmst89Don't go unless you enjoy driving.

I ended up moving to a spot in stockbridge, right between a walmart and waffle house 😂😂😂 sh*t messed with my diet hard lol

As a Henry county resident, these videos are spot on. Great content, thank you.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾bravo to this video. You hit the mail on the head with the pros and cons I currently live in McDonough and you were spot on about the traffic as well I was pleasantly surprised to see that you were a real estate broker you came off very knowledgeable and not pushy announcing that you were a real estate broker until the end bravo for your marketing👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I literally have been trying to ask around about these particular cities before I relocate. Thanks to you I have seen and heard what information that I need. Thank you so much. This was so helpful. Have a blessed day.
I like that the community is growing and not over saturated. Good info!
Absolutely! I really love McDonough.
Great job of providing insight about the town. Very professionally done. Considering relocating to the area in the near future. I like that you point out the pros and cons.
Awesome! I just recently purchased my home in McDonough VERY pleased with the area, you showed there are some neat places to go🙏❤
You really kept me engaged in your Video. Very, very informative. Thank you.
You are on point. I've been here since 2011. I like it. The traffic can be a headache but you will learn back roads. Take a deep breath and do what you have to do. The shopping is awesome. There are a lot of jobs coming here.
This was very helpful, I didn't know about South Point! I learned a lot about my future residence. Keep up the great content
I’m thinking about moving 2023 and your videos I love. It is helping me to make my decision where to live
This was a great video. We are moving to Georgia in the next 6 mo to a year. McDonough was on the list. Thank you.
very very thorough. We are currently looking to relocate and Douglasville was our only choice. McDonough is now a place to consider.
McDonough is better, and you're not far from Lithonia, or Stonecrest. take the back road to Panola Rd. you don't have to get on the freeway, avoid the traffic
Your videos are very helpful and informative thankyou so much!!!!
Thanks for the heads up on the daily traffic.
Nice video very thorough. I have a friend considering moving there I shared your video with her. Seems like a beautiful city.
Hello!!! Thank You 🙏🏾 for showing this video. I just moved from Florida to McDonough, GA With my Husband. Thanks for the information ℹ️.

Awesome video!
Great guides man. I appreciate you making these as I'm looking to move in the area but not sure which city is best for me and my family

Alright pretty good basic video agreed with everything you just shared needed this kind of video 8yrs ago currently live in next city over but still Henry co.

I was just there this weekend. My partner’s brother had a grand opening for Chic n Cone at South Point. Although it was rainy and cold, I had a very nice time. ❤

Hey, Im moving from CLT to the Atlanta area. What area did you decide on? Just curious.
@@beautifulsunshine5415 same I would like to know. How’s y’all experience going. I’m planning on doing the same. And this city is seeming to be a better option for me
I saw your video of Douglasville and after reviewing it and reading the comments it led me to this area. I think it's more my speed for retirement. I would like to be in an active area that mimics the city without the traffic. As a veteran I really like the Veteran area in the square

YES! Traffic is a mess most days especially if I-75 has any accidents. Love it here tho!
I am about to move there and this is helpful....
That’s awesome! I’m glad you found it informative.
Next time when visiting McDonough will make it too the square.
To be honest I am glad the Marta is limited. Also, I think the distance from Atlanta is a plus because it keeps the hard-core riff raff away.
All in all, good video. I think the city of McD. would approve of your video.
Thanks
Thank you for your feedback.
I agree, we live here and I love that it isn't Marta Accessible!
@@ellebe23 it's definitely a great city. I hope I never have to venture back into Atlanta after I move to McD..
Enjoy!
The hardcore riff raff is definitely way outside of the areas where Marta isn't accessible. McDonough has crime, granted it's not like Lithonia or Stone Mountain but it has crime.
We need a Whole Food or Trader Joe store that’s what McDonough is missing.
Is it worth moving to
Thank you for your informative videos. I'm considering buying in McDonough. What about cultural events & activities for Afrikan (American) folks, ie entertainment, music festivals, foods, healthy lifestyle. What about safety issues for elderly residents? Is it a good retirement community?
I think you did a pretty great job
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you for your comment.
Good info! I’m in the military and getting moved to the metro ATL area from the Northern VA area next month. I’ll be working at Gillem and I’m looking for something in that area…McDonough, Stockbridge, Hampton, Locust Grove are all on my list right now. If you have one you recommend over the other, that would be great!
I honestly think you’re list is strong. Maybe you can add Ellenwood, GA but besides that you’re all set.
Locust Grove is further out from interstate 75 and on the back road of highway 42 I wouldn’t recommend that area if ur working at Ft Gillem. Ellenwood , Stockbridge, Fairview areas are a better choice maybe Hampton because of the traffic
I live in McDonough been here since 2006 I Love the area.
@@classysoftbread Thanks. Yeah I’ve kinda narrowed it down to either one of those 3.
@@classysoftbread That’s what’s up! Pretty excited to move to the area.
South Point is crazy traffic and now exit 218 with all shopping center lets see rest of video
Can you please do Woodstock, Ballground and Jasper.
Sounds like a nice place to live
it is!
I lived there for about a year and a half on a small farm, in 1976, when I was in the 7th grade.
I went to McDonough Baptist Tabernacle (Just about EVERYONE did! There was only about 1,000 residents at the time, I'd say.) Preacher West was in charge. A great man and great friend to everyone. If you weren't in church, he would spot that, pause, ask if anyone had seen you. Then send a Decon to your house to make sure you were OK. And if you were, bring you in to church! Everyone was expected to be there at least once every Sunday, and Wed evening was a bonus.
(My religious views have changed, but everything I gained from that experience is AWESOME!)
There was one tiny gas station, with a little convenience store and liquor store attached. it was owned by a GREAT man, named "Bubba". (I am NOT making that up!) He was a US Marine Vet of WW2.
There was a diner near the courthouse (where the clocktower is.)
It was a cross between Mayberry and BttF in the 1955 bit.
There was about one traffic light downtown. Our joke was that there was a sign that on the front said, 'Welcome to McDonough!" On the back, it said, "Thank you for visiting McDonough!"
EVERYONE was like a family! Everyone knew your business. There was one religion, Southern Baptist Christian and about 2 churches.
IT has ALWAYS been PARADISE to me. I have lived all over, and have been living in Asia the past 15 years.
I am sure, and sad, that McDonough has changed MAJORLY since those days.
but it will ALWAYS be my favorite place in the world!
One huge difference I see from the demographics you cite. When I lived there, there were about 1,000 residents and Nearly all white, with about 50 black. A few Native Americans.
Wow thank you for your thoughtful comments. You allowed us to see a glimpse into how far McDonough has progressed over the last 46 years.
@@raymondrileyjr My pleasure!
Though I have lived MANY places in my life, including the past 14 in Taiwan, McDonough is my home in my heart!
Something I neglected to mention.... Sherman and his troops are reported to have camped in our neighbor's land on his way east. I found a mini-ball on our property with a metal detector.
There were TWO Police Officers!
I, and two kids from Belgium and one other girl, were featured on the front page of the WEEKLY newspaper, for our school having started a Gifted & Talented program for us four.
I actually lived in a couple areas in Atlanta, as well! Used to LOVE Underground Atlanta. That was in the days before it closed for "renovation".
I've been in or lived in 49 states (only not Alaska), Georgia was my FAVORITE, till I visited Hawaii. Georgia is my SECOND favorite!
I really enjoyed your video!
My family will be relocating to GA during the summer & thinking about moving to the McDonough/Locust Grove area to get approved for USDA loan. Is the Ola area of McDonough a good area to live? Is it a diverse area? Thanks!
Will you be showing homes in Marietta Ga and that area?
That's the city I have taken a liking to. I will need to commute to the airport so concerned about the traffic.
I think the traffic will not be a huge issue for the airport because there are a few ways you can go from McDonough.
@@raymondrileyjr would you recommend McDonough over Fairburn or Stockbridge?
@@lalalavern9791 you’re in for a surprise. Video coming tonight where I’m ranking the top 5 best suburbs south of the metro. McDonough is in the mix as well as Fairburn. Check it out tonight 6:30 to get your answer.

Panola Rd, the back road will take you up into Henry County!! from Lithonia
Hi thank you for the information provided. Question, is there a 55 + Community in McDonought and a Hospital?
Yeah traffic is horrible here and congested here in McDonough ga
I would definitely live there, it’s a beautiful city. I’ll just stay away from Atlanta
So one of the reasons I'm considering GA over FL is the bugs...what are the creepy crawlers I would have to deal with and what's the typical weather here?
Hey I can’t decide if I want to move down more Macon, Warner Robins area or go up to McDonough, Atlanta area. Which one do you prefer more?
Have you done a pros and cons on Hampton?
Great informative video! My husbands work is talking about relocating him to social circle from texas and we’re looking for somewhere with decent commute from there with great schools (especially special education for special needs) and diversity. Do you have any info on special education and how is McDonough on diversity and mixed race couples??
McDonough is definitely one of the most diverse communities in Georgia.
According to the 2020 Census
Black or African American: 62.4%
White or European American: 18.8%
Hispanic or Latino: 11.8%
Two or more races: 6.1%
Asian: 0.9%
And the education in McDonough is great.
That cannonball 😂
❤
Im moving there from across the world in 16 days
As a resident of McDonough sadly I’m moving from this area what was once a fairly non high traffic area is becoming oversaturated. The traffic is becoming bad and congested. Not to mention the apartments are very overpriced to live 45-50 minutes outside of Atlanta.
I will agree with on the traffic in McDonough. It’s picking up…
Hi. I'm from St. Louis and I'm currently staying in McDonough for a couple days to see of this is the place we want to move. We would love at least 1 acre to raise chickens, but don't want to be in a very rural area. We need good internet and schools. Any suggestions?
I’d say reach out to me and let’s discuss further.
Ola

Hi,

Ok. I work nights so I will do just that sometime tonight or early tomorrow. Thank you.
What about the con of the city growing rapidly and definitely becoming way over crowded here and congested with tons of people here? And what about them building every where and putting gas stations and dollar stores every where?
Hello,
How far is the airport from here ?
Is it far distance ?
About 25-30 minutes without traffic.. just move here love the school and the homes.
As a future buyer, what is the best option, Conyers and McDonough! Thank you.
Conyers is slightly a little less developed and quieter when it comes to congestion.
McDonough is growing like crazy so more congestion and traffic.
Both has decent access to shopping I’d say McDonough has more access though.
Hopes this helps 💪🏾😎
Thank you for your feedback
Been here two years. It’s nice and quiet but the traffic is a nightmare and the city can’t scale fast enough for all the residents moving here. We need more grocery stores and home improvement stores. You can barely get into Home Depot or Lowe’s on a Saturday or Sunday and you can forget going in Kroger where it’s full of people leaving their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle or just moving slow in general. If you’re used to the big city speed where things move fast, don’t come here lol
I will say the infrastructure is definitely making an assertive effort to scale with the increased population. Also I believe generally the coverage of groceries stores are pretty adequate especially in comparison to other suburbs but I mean the pique times are the pique times. Having TWO fully stocked improvement stores for a city with its population is also pretty sweet. Several suburbs in metro don’t have any at all. Also McDonough has a good overflow options with stores in Lovejoy, Griffin and Morrow all within 20 - 30 minutes drive from McDonough. Traffic is definitely an issue I can’t dispute that especially in the city limits and near the interstate however areas near 155 and East Lake is definitely seeing some significant growth. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾 and sharing your thoughts I’m sure it’s going to give someone the perspective they were looking for!
What new restaurant
Don't give too many of our secrets away! I love it not being too congested with people and traffic.
🤣🤣🤣 👍🏾
pretty sure that was my “cannon ball” car😭
Do u know anything about Fairburn ga
Yes sir Fairburn, GA VLOG coming
That’s where my job is but I don’t know nothing about it
I lived in fairburn for about a year!! I loved it there very laid back, and the cost of living was fair. You are easily 25 to 45 min from everything traffic included. Overall great place to stay..
How about access to healthcare?
I was and still am considering moving here. I have a friend who moved there and she sparked my curiosity. Too much repeating yourself but other than that- very nice video. P.S. are there any hotels or suites for over night tourists?
Thank you for watching!!!
@Celeste - there are some hotels over at south pointe mall (which was referenced in this video). There are som3 more hotels near Jonesboro road - another outdoor shopping mall like area.
Good luck!
Yes try Hampton McDonough rd rte 20 near south point shopping center and Jonesboro rd

Great video. How's the crime rate? I know it's available on the internet, but I'd like a person who lives there to comment.
All I can do it provide you a resource link to learn more: www.neighborhoodscout.com/ga
TRAFFIC AND THE POLICE ARE HORRIBLE HERE
I’d obviously have to disagree with your opinion but I do appreciate your comments. We are all entitled to our opinions and view points.
I agree with you. They keep building all these new houses and apartments yet refuse to widen the roads for all these new people moving here and the Henry county police just sit on the side of the road doing nothing while people speed right on by. People here drive aggressively out of frustration with traffic which causes more accidents and more traffic 🙃
Opening a caribbean restaurant there Will be a good business
Can you do a video of the neighborhoods, the downtown area doesn't pull people into that area, because, that is not the living area. My family will never go to the downtown, nothing important is there.
IS IT BLACK FRIENDLY
Not "is it Black Friendly" 😂😂😂
@@raymondrileyjr 🤷🏾♀️😂😂
African Americans are the majority of the population at 62%. They're the dominant group of McDonough's population.
Mcdonough is 66% "non ghetto" black. I hope that answers your question. It safe, free of murder, shootings, etc...
@@TheOriginalCryptoPimp man get out of here with your ignorant racism!!! You're the reason why the world is full of HATE and DARKNESS! go find Jesus! Nobody's talking to you!
It’s a shame that the statue of the Civil War soldier was taken down. Way too much traffic in McDonough and getting worse everyday. We are moving out of Henry County as soon as we can.
I'm only here to learn how to pronounce the name.
What about crime?
Crime isn't too bad. Depending on where you're at in McDonough makes the difference. But, crime isn't horrible.
So a couple of things. The Toys R Us closed back in 2018 or 19. So might wanna reedit that broll. The second thing is that McDonough's biggest issue is its that its lack of cultural diversity. By that I mean its a very hetero blue collar town and all the stigma that goes with that pov. There is an LGBTQ population here, but you'd never know it. Also there isnt much in way of an arts scene. There are artists here, but you have to commute into Atlanta to be apart of an artistic community and its benefactors. Because of these things McDonough also has a huge problem with a bored and uncultured youth. Which just breeds uncultured adults.
Outside of them working at a drive-thru or enrolling in sports, theres nothing for teenagers to do. I see them all the time just walking around and loitering. And the biggest econmonic issue is not that its lacking a trader joe's or whole foods. The issues are the warehouses and truck drivers, and lack of econmic diversity. Alot of the congestion here is from 18 wheelers on the highways. The warehouses are the biggest employers here. Service industry is a close second if tied for first. And everywhere you look around the town center is another car wash or gas station. There's a QT or Race Trac on almost every corner. There more of them then McDonalds or Burger King.
