“Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” & “After The Fire Has Gone” are two of the many first with Loretta Lynn. Amber, you should show everyone a picture of Jay with hair!!
Great comment
1000% I still say, they should also check out Twitty & Lynn and Ms. Lynn's sweet young granddaughter Emmy Rose Russell who is on a American Idol this season.
One of my favorite duets by them is called "You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly", LOL!
@Rebel9668 yes. They had ALOT.
@@Rebel9668I love that one. No one under 60 probably knows it
Hello Darlin’ is a song that became THE pickup line of the 70’s, and it was all in the Conway delivery of the line 🤠🎼🎶
You really should check out the wonderful duets Conway sings with Loretta Lynn. Louisiana Women, Mississippi Man is one you would enjoy!
My ex mother in law loved conway. Her name was Kitty. She always said she was going to marry him someday and be Kitty Twitty!
hahahaha thats funny
Tight Fittin Jeans is his best
And pardner, there's a tiger in these tight fittin' jeans."
He sang this in concert and the ladies went wild
He didn't start in country; neither did Kenny Rogers, but they were embraced by their talent.
The Twitty Birds and First Edition
@@scottwilson3741How about The Twitty Blowfish, and the First Edition.
Rip to my favorite male country artist ever🤠❤
I went to several Conway concerts and the women would just melt in his hands.
Conway's "Don't Cry Joni" should be next as he sings it in a duet with his real life 16 year old daughter Joni. This reached #63 on the Overall Billboard Top 100 and #4 on the Country Charts.
This is my favorite Conway Twitty song. Thank you for selecting it. Conway has a great voice. I didn't start getting into country music until I started waitressing at a truck stop and a lot of country music was played on the juke box. Conway Twitty, Kenny Rogers, The Carlie Daniels Band, Patsey Cline, Johnny Cash, Loretta lynn.and Dolly were the favorite artists that were played over and over.. I was in my 30's when I began to really appreciate Country music.
Dude I met Conway in the early 70s he was so kind & took us on his bus…great sweet guy…love that u guys r so very open to all music ❤️ y’all much! 👏👍🏼🙏🏽
Born in 1950, I LOVE your beautiful analysis, and appreciation, of MY MUSIC ERAS!
I was raised on this music! Makes me miss my daddy. He loved Conway! Thank you for reacting to this! Happy Easter!
BJ Thomas suggestion - "Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song".
You haven't heard the greatness of Conway Twitty(nee Harold Lloyd Jenkins)until you've heard his very first hit during his neo-rockabilly/country pop era, 1958's "It's Only Make Believe" and NOT his numerous re-recorded versions, but his 1958 version only.....also his Elvis sounding 1960 rock-a-ballad "Lonely Blue Boy" and 1970's country classic "Hello Darlin" and 1973's "You've Never Been This Far Before" and his country duet with Loretta Lynn entitled "Your The Reason Are Kids Are Ugly".
Old Rockwood Club Fayetteville,Ar
Yes!! Great suggestion!
I use to D.J. in my dad's bar. An at the end of the night for the last song I'd play his song It's Only Make Believe an everyone with leave the floor to my parents for that one dance. They both passed away in the last couple years. I like to think they r somewhere together enjoying all the things I use to tell them they should go an live life.
You've Never Been This Far Before is my favorite Conway Twitty song......Bom bom bom.
Great song. Now that is one that will certainly make Jay and Amber blush, for sure.
It's Only Make Believe is another really good one by him!
I love this song... Conway and Loretta were singing partners... They have a lot of songs together.
You're the reason our kids are ugly
I still believe in waltzes
Louisiana woman Mississippi Man
Spiders and snakes
Feelings
It's true love
From 7 to 10
You know just what I do
The letter.... Are just a few of their songs. Y'all should definitely check them out. ❤❤❤
You should react to his duets with Loretta Lynn like Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man and After the Fire Is Gone.
Don't forget " Your The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly ". It's so funny by the two of them.
You have to do IT'S ONLY MAKE BELIEVE. It's my favorite Conway song and a real gem.
I suggest Conway and Sam Moore singing "Rainy Night in Georgia"... If I am not mistaken, it was the last song Conway recorded... or at least one of the last...
I thought he did that song with Brook Benton since it was Brooks song.
@@josephapplebee9111 It IS a cover of Brook's song, but I am not aware of him and Conway ever working together (Could have happened though)... Conway and Sam got together and recorded the cover shortly before Conway passed away in 1993... The video, released in 1994, is dedicated to Conway...
@@js3599 Do you mean Sam Moore? Sam Cooke passed in 1964.
@@FranklinJenkins-gf9mb Yes, I do mean Sam Moore... Thanks for catching that...
Have to agree with @MeIn321, "Tight Fittin' Jeans" is one of Conway's best. I had a friend who always asked the karaoke hosts if they had "Tight Fittin' Jeans" on their playlist. Finally one night one had it. I had never heard the song before. As the host sang the song my buddy looked like he was transported to another world. We couldn't help asking my friend if the lyrics were just his fantasy or if he had actually experienced the story they told. He got flustered and blushed. That song meant a lot to my old country friend.
THIS was so great boot-scootin' music, back in the day!! RIP, CONWAY!! YOU are MISSED, SIR!!! THANKS, YA'LL!!!
Randy Travis
(He Walked on water )
Iconic
Took my boyfriend 40 years ago to his concert. It was a surprise birthday gift for David. Fabius loved Conway I loved this song
DON'T CRY JONI is a duet with his daughter that tells of lost love. A great counterpoint to this song yet is one of his biggest hits
Wow, you guys have no idea the smile you gave this old listener.
I'm a retired tribute artist and I spent thirty years singing all over the world as Conway Twitty and Roy Orbison!
For me, you guys hit it out of the park tonight. Thank you!
Well said sir ,,couldnt agree more.
Conway Twitty was the man! My mom absolutely loved him. This is the music I was raised on. I'm so glad y'all appreciate it so much. Keep em coming
Slow Hand is another really good one of his! Love Conway!
Needless to say, my mom and every other country-music-loving female loved Conway in the 70s. She played his records all the time. I actually resented Conway until I got older because I heard him so much as a kid. 😂
Amber's face at 1:14 😊 Good choice, you two! My man has a voice like Conway Twitty and I love it when he sings this song to me. Happy Easter! ✝🌄
Try Conway & Loretta “As Soon As I Hang Up The Phone. They have many goodins. Loretta also has some fine duets with Ernest Tubb, but they are not as widely remembered. They never had any direct-to-consumer television ads, I guess.
Mr. Twitty is called, the best friend a song ever had.
Something interesting for Jay to know..The Bee-Gees (esp Barry) were big fans of Conway. In fact you should try to react to Conway’s version of The Bee-Gees song “Rest Your Love”…it is fabulous! Conways voice in this song is amazing! 😊
This is a beautiful love song. A lot of people think it's about sex/scoring. Glad you guys understood the song.
You definitely need to hear Conway & Loretta duets. They did cheating & love songs. They are so good together.
Listen to their version of
"Spiders and snakes" or
"Pickin' Wild Mountain Berries." They were having so much fun singing these songs.
Other songs
"Lead me on"
"7 til 10"
"Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man"
"After the fire is gone"
"I still believe in waltzes"
Any song you pick is 💥❤️🔥. Love Conway & Loretta! I sure do miss them!!!
Country music is known for its double entendres. 😊
Some Kenny Rogers suggestions, Kenny Rogers and Dottie West - What Are We Doing In Love, I Feel Sorry For Anyone Who Isn’t Me Tonight. Kenny Rogers, Kim Carnes and James Ingram - What About Me.
There are so many great duets you two should hear-Kenny and Dottie, Conway and Loretta, George and Tammy, Garth and Tricia, Tim and Faith, Andy and Olivia, Marie Osmond and Dan Seals. It would be fun to do a Duet Tuesday once in awhile.
I saw him in concert in the 80’s and man he really put on a show and his voice was so smooth enjoyed every song he sang . Here is one you should check out it is don’t cry Joni it is so beautiful
i love this song
I don't think you've reacted to Lyle Lovett. I'd check out his songs like, that’s right (you’re not from Texas), here I am, you’ve been so good up to now, you can’t resist it, penguin, my baby don’t tolerate, funny how time slips away w/al green
Conways song Goodbye Time
for me is his very very best
That's the song he was in the middle of performing when he collapsed on stage in Branson the night before he died. Kinda spooky with that title, no?
Mac Davis "It's Hard to Be Humble" (1980)
Also Lubbock Texas in your rearview mirror. Since I live in Lubbock it's a favorite.
My favorite Mac song was Hooked on Music. Got a real rockabilly beat.
@@stevefriery9086 - Mine is "Baby don't get hooked on me"
I grew up in the 70/80s and my mom loved country...so as a kid I got to hear some true Country music nothing like today's stuff. Very lucky decades for music. So blessed.
His name came from "Conway Arkansas" and "Twitty, TX"
My best friend moved away to Conway Arkansas in 7th grade. I hated that place. Until my patents moved to Bentonville Arkansas and I joined the Navy and got stationed in New Orleans for 4 years. Conway is right on the road between my folks and NOLA. So I dtove through several times. But it only took once for me to want to move there.
Never been to Twitty. But I HATED DFW. People in DFW are the worst drivers anywhere except maybe Denver.
Joany Joany is quite a good song by him. My sister and I sang it together when we kids and recorded it in our grandpas studio. To this day it’s one of my favorite songs.
One of my favorite Conway songs is Don't take it away
Mr. Harold Jenkins changed his name to Conway Twitty. He said he picked the name after Conway Arkansas and Twitty Texas. I had the honor of meeting him in person. He was as nice in person as he seemed on stage. He had so many wonderful songs. Two of my favorites were "Play Guitar Play" and "Touch the Hand of the Man that Made You a Woman."
If you're going down a Conway rabbit hole, you definitely need to check out his incredible duets with Loretta Lynn (and of course Loretta's incredible and influential works). And, then maybe follow that up with some of the great country duos of that era (incl. George & Tammy and Porter & Dolly).
Now that's the JAM!! In my opinion the BEST country 2 step song ever recorded!!
One of his that i like is, "I Don't Know a Thing About Love" (The Moon Song)
Please do some Ricky Van Shelton- Statue of a Fool, I’ll Leave this world Loving You. One of the best voices in country music.
Absolutely. I have recommended Ricky Van Shelton before. He has so many great songs. Keep it between the lines, Backroads, Somebody Lied, Simple Man, Rocking Years with Dolly Parton and so many more.
Ole Conway is one of the all time classics. I've always called him the him, "The Grand Ole pimp of country music" b/c you know this smooth talking man-permed baritone was pulling the ladies in his day
Conway's Happy Birthday Darlin' plays at Least once a year in my house every year. A classic for a classic!✌️❤️
He's a True GOAT!!!!! and a Legend!!!!
I'll tell you that brings out my hillbilly HI LLB.Y, RLLYI like it.I like to bring hillbilly out.Alrighthough you are our question mark 6:26
Grew up in the 60s and 70s with this music. This is probably one of my Twitty faves. Thanks for sharing.
Goodbye Time one of his greatest vocals ever!!!
When this song came out everyone was freaking out lol. It was scandalous 😂 I remember it because my Momma's loved this guy.😊
Fun fact, i got the night shirt with this song on it at a Twitty and Lynn show who are the grandchildren of Mr. Twitty and Ms. Lynn. Tayla is in the pic with me. They go all over the country, share their songs and stories to keep the magic alive. You all should really check them out. Tayla is just as silly as Ms. Lynn and Tre is as calm as Mr. Twitty. There is something about the twitty and lynn families.
I don't know if you have heard of Charlie Rich but he had some great songs back in the day. He is perhaps best remembered for a pair of 1973 hits, "Behind Closed Doors" and "The Most Beautiful Girl," (borrowed from wiki)
Classic Conway 💜
Conway & Loretta released 10 albums, so, there is a lot of music out there from them. 12 singles made the Top 10 on the country charts, including 5 #1's.
Pure love is the best and Conway sang it all. Jordan, I'm 43 and had silver and gray since the late 30's.
Haven't heard that one in a long time :) While it's sweet, he had some cheeky songs too, like "Don't Call Him A Cowboy Until You've Seen Him Ride", LOL! And that one reminds me of Mel Tillis' song, "I Got The Horse And She Got The Saddle" and his "Coca-Cola Cowboy". Some day I know you'll get to David Frizzel & Shelly West's song "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma". Another song I think y'all would like is Hoyt Axton's "Boney Fingers" :)
There is a song by Trace Adkins you should check out, "One Hot Mama" - very much in the same spirit of that verse about the curles!
“Goodbye Time” is a must hear.
Thanks guys! That brought back a lot of lovely memories of me dancing with my mom and dad in our living room when I was a kid. We listened to Conway Twitty, Ian Anderson, Johnny Horton and so many more.❤
A true legend. Some other great Conway Twitty songs you should check out are: 'Slow Hand' and 'Desperado Love'
... I love "julia" ... I love all of his songs and it's easy to pick the big hits, the best known songs... but for me, the song, "julia" is one that just embodies what I love most about conway's voice and songs - love... sweet song from his later years....I'd love to see your reaction to it 😊
You've gotta check out his duet with Loretta Lynn, "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man." I LOVED that song when I was a kid!
Never heard this song before, but the thing that really stood out to me was was key change, which went lower, whereas most songs go higher. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this!
I'm with you, Amber. My grey hairs were earned, and I see no reason to hide them. Inner beauty shines past those things.
Conway is full of hits, many for the ladies like this. My favorite is "Only Make Believe"
Oh, I've been doing. It's CO UN TRY country music everywhere. I say I've went developed h. I. L. A spell BI LLYI gotta help bell on her high question mark here and my remember brother Blake Bal IKA question mark Black Bal a.k.a. Oh yeah! One of his best! ♥
I played football with his son Jimmy in a Moore, OK league. Conway was at practices and games, but none of us knew he was a famous singer. He owned a burger joint called Twittyburger.
Jimmy was a great guy and good player.
I SO love that you two enjoy and appreciate Conway's songs. Thanks for sharing!
You guys absolutely have got to hear Conway and Loretta singing When I hang up the phone,
You might enjoy his earlier rock hit It's Only Make Believe or another country classic You've Never Been This Far Before. I was not a big country fan growing up but for a few years I was with a woman that loved country music, so I had to listen to a lot. I saw Conway Twitty in a concert near Ottawa not very long before he died.
I absolutely love this song❤ and your reactions are absolutely amazing, I love watching you guys☺️
I love the late Daryl Singletary cover of this song.
LOVE Conway Twitty. Tight Fitin' Jeans is a must listen after this one. It's such a shame that he wasn't truly recognized for his talent by the County crowd. Conway was one of those cross-over artists and Nashville said he didn't fit. Boy were they wrong.
AMEN to what you said about aging Amber. I'm going to be 63 this year and I'm of the mindset that what you see is what you get and if you don't like it, then don't look. These days, I blame all my bad behavior on senility...LOL ;o)
Your next Conway Twitty song should be a duet with Loretta Lynn called After the Fire is Gone. The two of them singing together is country personified . The song is right to the point and really makes you feel what they're singing about.
Conway Twitty given name Harold Jenkins had 41 number one records. He was a unique talent who started out in Rock and Roll before coming to Country Music. He had a way of saying things in his music other men only thought. He’s been gone since 1994 and he’s definitely missed.
I can hear J singing this to Amber wen he's in the mood. Lol
Glen Campbell really does a killer job on the Conway Twitty hit song "It's Only Make Believe." Best version ever!
This channel is an education for me sometimes as never heard of him b4 so thanks I love all sorts of music 🎶, if you haven't notice in my previous posts i love Barbra Streisand so please can we have some more.😊❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Jay and Amber you should listen to Tell Laura I Love Her by Ray Peterson
He sings another great song called “it’s only make believe ” beautifully sung!
Thank you for playing the music my Daddy brought me up with. It's been 5 years since he passed😘
My favorite Conway song would be perfect for an Easter reaction. Who Did They Think He Was. Its absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Also, we need some more Loretta, and some Conway and Loretta too!!
Conway was one of my favorites.
I think y'all would love "Rainy Night in Georgia" it was his last song before he passed.
Honestly my favorite by him.
Much love from Virginia 💙🙏💙🙏
PS as the Great Stewart Scott used to say. "Don't hate the playa hate the game". lol.
For some reason my mind always amalgamates this song with “Take Me Down” by Alabama, so I keep waiting for the chorus of the latter to kick in. 😆 If you haven’t heard it already, check out his and Loretta Lynn’s song “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.”
I've always loved Conway's "You've Never Been This Far Before."
What a voice , pure deep honey to the ears
I probably haven't heard that song in 40 years. The restaurant I worked at played this song on the jukebox Many times. The ladies there reacted to this song pretty much the same way Miss Amber reacted. Happy Easter!!
When I hear his name, this is the song that comes to my mind first; so lovely! My favorite is Slow Hand. : ) To hear Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn together, listen to Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.
2 hidden gems that will hit home over the top from CT are
A little of you
What's another goodbye
Crazy in love album!!!!!
Guarantee ya!
My mom loved her some Conway Twitty lol I didn't give it much thought until I listened to some of his music and then I thought damn I see why she likes him he is truly gifted with words.
Conway Twitty has so many amazing songs and I hope you get the chance to listen to them. A couple that I would recommend would be: Don't Cry Joni and You've Never Been This Far Before.
A fun song by Conway is a duet with Loretta Lynn called You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly. It’s a good one. And a very early Conway Twitty song you should check out is Lonely Blue Boy
