My grandfather used to work those same salt mines many years ago, he sent my mom to school even though it was financially devastating for him. She ended up getting a scholarship /sponsorship to a boarding school, graduated top in ethiopia for highschool, went to uni, got her masters, went to America, got her PhD, while in college she helped raise many of her siblings and helped pay for their education. Many have gone to college and have good careers. My grandfather also refused to get his daughters circumcised back in the early 1950s. He was way ahead of his times. I am so greatful for my grandparents for their foresight and their sacrifice as I am greatful to my God and savior for making a way for my family. All of my siblings have finished college and are successful in their careers. I wish the same for these children and their future generations

Provocateur SK yep we watch these and comments praise the parents, how about not having the kids in the first place, ? I would praise them for that, stuck in a land that has nothing and can't let people thrive
Binge watching these today has made me feel so terrible for the days I complained about riding the school bus or waiting for a ride. I definitely want to help! I think actually going to these countries and physically being there to help would be something I would want to do, a sort of missionary trip. God Bless these children, their families, and everyone who watches these 💗
Just go do it on your own or through a group. The missionary is actually what was used to start slavery in Africa. Those missionaries were the agents and brokers of slave trade. Please stay away from it.
I am also thinking about-the day when the world is open once again to learn some of there survival skills in exchange for something useful to them. That is more worthwhile and meaningful than shopping for the latest..nothingness.
@MaríaEmiliaNegrón... Isn't it amazing how much these kids want to help their families, even after such a hard day themselves? We thought about that too. Most kids are so distracted by TV & devices that helping their parents is that last thing they want to do... These Ethiopian kids don't know what that's like.. They just want to be happy with their families!
My parents taught me respect, respect your elders, values all of that. But these children have that on a whole different level. And not to demise them they don't got nothin. But what maybe we have in wealth 💰 we lack that happiness family the little things. We take a lot of ish for granted. When I go to church Sunday imma light some candles and pray for them especially!
I have just discovered these series and my heart sinks watching the adversities that this little children across the globe go through to get a descent education while there many children who run out of school when conditions are all good. I was born and raised in Uganda, Africa. In my country, it is common to find poverty stricken areas with poor roads but at least the risk of danger or death on way to school is limited. Perhaps, I have not moved broadly to prove this... These series have taught me to be grateful ad appreciative about every thing in life, they have opened my eyes to see life with different lenses. I am in an exchange program in a European country and I feel I should share this with the students.
This is true for most city’s of Africans countries, but the western mainstream media never wanted to share the positive part our continent. I just wanted to let the viewers know that there are a lot of students going to school like western children with a school bus, private taxis and also picked up and dropped off at school every single day.

Walking over two hours to school and another two hours back in over 100 degrees temperatures with the sandy soil buring holes on their feet is extremely humbling. And all through their daily ordeal, they can spare a smile. It's truly inspiring ! I can no longer complain of any hardship I encounter which is nothing compared to what these kids go through everyday.

I have been to Ethiopia and these are the most precious, giving people you can imagine! I sponsor 2 children there. There is a charity named Children’s Hopechest and it’s a wonderful charity and has very few employees so they can give the most funds available to the areas that they are in. At our care point in Holeta, Ethiopia there has been a water point made where the community can get clean, fresh water. I have witnessed firsthand the precious kids in Holeta drinking from the different spouts of the water point. It is a humbling experience to say the least. The charity makes it possible for children to attend school and they minister to the whole family also. ❤🇪🇹

@@CindyOHaraPalladino I think what she meant is their ability to tolerate such harsh enviromental conditions. Imagine living in Death valley without modern amenities. The Danakil Desert is like Death Valley and the only people who live there are these group of people known as Afar. I can't imagine an Ethiopian from any other city or village living there without quickly succumbing to the elements. These people have lived this nomadic and traditional lifestyle in that same environment for centuries so they've learned to tolerate what most people, even within Africa, would not. So, for that reason i would say they are amazing. Having said that, these kids deserve an easier life.
Watching these documentaries will humble you and teaches you to open your eyes on the true reality of how other people live around the world. This needs to be shown in classroom around the world.
Same. I think far too many people instantly assume that all Muslim families oppress women. But every religion is capable of being horrible (white people used Christianity to excuse colonialism) but also good.
Thank you for this video. These children are wonderfully brave souls. I live in Australia where a lot of children take education for granted. These video's should be shown in all schools through-out this country. I deeply appreciate Free Documentary for sharing the struggles of these children.

Binge watching these today has made me feel so terrible for the days I complained about riding the school bus or waiting for a ride. I definitely want to help! @MaríaEmiliaNegrón... Isn't it amazing how much these kids want to help their families, even after such a hard day themselves? We thought about that too.

Thank you for sharing. A lot of people take basic services, like going to school, as a guaranteed right.
Good
This is true for most city’s of Africans countries, but the western mainstream media never wanted to share the positive part our continent. I just wanted to let the viewers know that there are a lot of students going to school like western children with a school bus, private taxis and also picked up and dropped off at school every single day.

At our care point in Holeta, Ethiopia there has been a water point made where the community can get clean, fresh water.

Aye, these need to be shown to American kids too! Unfortunately in my family there were too many young ladies that chose to piss away their opportunities for *free* (funded by taxpayers) education.... while these kids literally risk their lives and *want* to go to school .... when certain cultures begin to value education for girls & women... things will improve
Really touching, I've watched and literally felt the pain, sun heat, thirst, hunger, but still kids push on
But with all this most important is humbleness of the people who stand with each in all situation is, just amazing!

How ever now is diffrent history our small town people all have tap water. As far as the school we had elementary and high schools in town now the town growing so fast . Most importantly we have better human capital pilots , Doctors , Engineers , Athletes , thanks to lord Almighty with barley gov't help. I am from south Ethiopia even thou we have scarcity of arable land we have favorable climate and land on top the people are delighted to work hrad in other word hard workers. To my opinion the problem to all of this...I know the country's economy is weak but the every gov't come and go they don't have hearts to prioritize places like Afar , Omo valley , where people walking with out clothes on like primitive society on 21st century not due to the weather but b/c of illiteracy. 37 degrees feels like your head can break anytime if you stay outside for so long. And here they are walking at 50degrees 😭.
@John Smith Black/Ethiopian people are strong.
They are strong, I feel sick already at + 27 degrees(im from north europe)
😭😭😭😭
And without any head gear except for the women. It is like an Eskimo walking barefoot. It is not strength, it is stupidity.
If u live at a place or born there ur body will adapt to it. Not fully but its capable. U can't compare them with normal city folks. They already have adapted to the heat and they have their ways and method to overcome it
The little girl walks across the desert with no shoes. This is really an eye opener. In America, I took my education for granted. I think this series should be shown during home room classes from elementary through high school to remind our youth the privilege they have because in this country it’s so easy to overlook or forget.
Jesus is the only way to healing, restoration and salvation to all souls. Please turn to him and he will change your life, depression into delight, soul heading from hell to heaven all because of what he did on the cross
“Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13
Love watching these documentary's it open my eyes my heart more, lord help them.
Me too
God is awesome he keeps, saves and protects. That's why we need to give him thanks and praise. In everything we do give God praise and remember Jesus Christ is Lord so let's surrender our lives to him before it's too late
This is so heartbreaking. "One can complain of not having shoes until they meet another who has no feet ."
Muhammad peace be upon him is last prophet of God who restored strict monotheism practiced by Abraham pbuh and Moses pbuh
If God, Allah or JC exist, they must be having fun watching this innocent children go through all these atrocities of nature and and mankind, While other preveleged ones thousands of KMs away shoot their classmates and teachers with AK47s.
Religion is full of lies. Wake up!
@@buraburee only fool with pride will say there is no God
@@adnandawahshah4605 Mohammed is a false prophet and paedophile sent by Allah Aka Satan to deceive millions of Muslims like you. Wake up before it’s too late
It also show the power , greatness, and undeniable will of the HUMAN SPIRIT
I complain when I have to drive 45 minutes to work in my air-conditioned car. The fact that the children in this video (and all the others in this series) have to make this journey TWICE a day absolutely boggles my mind. I take so very much for granted. Where we are born and the lives we live is such a toss of the dice that we should never let that twist of fate be far from our minds.
Is there anyway that I can support those kids?
Something simple as a pair of good shoe, pair of protection glasses...
I agree and water bottles?
Wow this is really sad, it really teaches us the importance of being grateful for what you have, a bus to school or an Uber- these are the things we look down on cause we want to use cool cars and other materialistic things. We should learn to appreciate the little we have cause others have nothing at all.
I was born in Ethiopia 🇪🇹
When i finished a high school
I tried to get a work
And I become a teacher
My salary was 25 dollars per month
And far from my hometown
That's life everywhere
When was this ? Surely now its higher though cost of living is even higher
I am in the third world country but I tell you your salary compare to our teacher here is way to low for a degree holder. Your one month salary is just a 1day of work here of our teachers.
Allah save you Mohamed. Loves from Turkey

God bless these wonderful people , bless these kids future hope they prosper
After all these shocking videos of what kids go through across the world, this one has torn my heart the most.
I am single and can't reproduce so adopting is my first option to have kids.
After seeing this episode I hope I have the strength and courage to adopt a baby from here because no kids should endure all of this. This is the first episode to truly move me to tears
In my country Ethiopia Unless their family die no one give their children for adoption,my mom raise six of her children by working difficult work even she doesn't allow her relative to adopt her children
Whose going to show this documentary to their child/children?🤚🏿
Im watching with children now to let them know they are blessed and to encourage them to study harder.
Kristine Athena Lemana Great!!
Why?
@@mividamirancho Probably they want to show off to their kids. How much they can offer compared with those poor and uneducated people. Make themself feel better for everything they do for their kids.
Iulia Ceclan they should also show them how crackheads and meth heads get high so that they feel good of how lucky they are then.
You gotta love how in a lot of these countries women are considered inferior and not as intelligent, but low and behold it's always a woman who is teaching the boys the subjects they need to continue to be "more important and worth more in society"
I notice..these women have no future...she's going to school..for what? To marry a 80yr old pervert and become a servant.....nice...
Muslim.
@@tohmaseguchi8505 its fucking disgusting and pathetic that when women are raped it's more safe to stay silent because now she's "tainted" and worth nothing, as well as everybody assuming she brought it upon herself like she was asking for it.. then you have men kidnapping their wife who is anywhere from 20 to 60 years younger. Everyone deserves equal rights, but damn if some of these crazy ass SJW snowflake feminists could spend one hour in the shoes of their counterparts from the middle east. (Some feminist are legit, I mean the batshit over the top exaggerated lying ones)
Jay Lew so sad
@@mrsslocombespussy820 No true at all. I am Muslim and we are five sisters; doctors, bankers, the whole works....live in a Muslim country, in our 30's...successful, unmarried and living our life as equals in our household with the men...what the hell are you on about????
This documentary should be shown to every school in the world
