Hi Cathy, this was so helpful - please do some more instruction videos and tips on MOX pattern and song sequencer - brilliant - much better than the manual.
Hmmm. Well, I was just playing around (in pattern mode) and I tried hitting "job" then "event" (F3), then "Erase Event" then hit enter. Next to "phrase" on the screen I selected the measures I wanted deleted and then hit enter. The problem is, the notes are deleted, but the pattern is still the original length, but now with silent measures clicking by until it loops back to measure 1 again. There must be a way, but I don't know it. Maybe you can make sense of this article, which might help. www.yamahasynth.com/motifxf-category/understanding-the-copy-jobs-1. I'll keep checking into this. I am going to see if you can send a song over to pattern mode. This could be a work-around. Save your pattern to a song, edit it, then save it back to a 4 measure pattern??? Seems like it could work, but I will have to work on figuring this out. If anyone has the answer, please respond!
@@cathyt6773 i know, it's weird! LOL, It seems like you have to create an entirely new pattern , but it's a bummer because it seems like you have to redo all track/patch settings. I saw the "split pattern" but I think that;s not what I'm looking for. Thanks
I don't know if there is better way, but this is something I figured out: You could use "Beat Stretch." I did the following before sending this reply. I recorded 4 measures with a click track. Then I decided I wanted the first measure to only have 2 beats in it instead of 4 like the other measures. So I hit "Job" then "Event" then scrolled down to #8 "Beat Stretch." Hit "Enter." Then if you have multiple tracks recorded on, where it says "TR01" use your data dial to dial up "TRall". That means all tracks. Then select the measure you want to shorten (i.e. 001 - 002). Then where it says "Rate" choose 50%. That will turn a 4 beat measure into a 2 beat measure. Hit "Enter." Then listen. You might have to delete what is in that measure and re-record just that measure. You might want to play around with this and see if it gets the job done for you.
Hi Cathy thanks for share your Music Knowledge with the World. Can you make a Video how to set The Moxf to Work with Logic Pro x.I need help cause I need to set all the midi Channels and they have the same voice to all, thanks
Hello Cathy. I've have created a Pattern that I want to play behind another voice that I want to play in realtime. But, when I hold the sustain pedal down for the real-time voice, the pedal is also sustaining notes that the Pattern is playing and causing the Pattern-notes to be all smeared-and-garbled. Also, when I use the Pitch Wheel or Modulation Wheel, they both effect the Pattern notes. How do make the sustain-pedal not sustain the Pattern notes and the PitchWheel and Mod Wheel not effect the Pattern notes? Thank you
When you play in real-time, make sure you are on a separate track - - one that you haven't already recorded on. Then you can be free to use the sustaining pedal without affecting pre-recorded material on the other tracks.
Thanks, That was very informative. I'm actually trying to delete some songs that I recorded, in performance mode. 3 songs came prerecorded and I'd like to delete those too. Any help would be appreciated. I'm on the MOX6
I'm not sure about the MOX6 but on the MOXF8 you could go to the song you want to delete, hit "Job" then hit "Song" then scroll down to "Clear Song" and hit "Enter." If you decide later that you want those demo tracks back, you would hit the "Utility" button, then the "Job" button then hit "Enter" to restore the keyboard to its original factory settings. Of course if you restore your keyboard to factory settings you will lose anything you have created and stored on the keyboard. It's best to save your own songs on a flash drive which you stick into the back of your keyboard into the USB port.
I have never tried, but I am sure you can. Then when you go to save the edited song, save it on a flash drive and give it a new name. When you turn your keyboard on each time you might have to go to "File" then "Load," then find your song and hit "Exec." I would expect that the edited version will load over the existing demo. Or it might be just as simple as editing the demo song and just hitting "Store." Try it!
Hello there, Miss Kathy, I’m totally blind and I have a question because I also have a MOXF8 keyboard and my question is can you delete just a single track? If so, could you tell a blind person those of us that can’t see how to do it, I know that there are ways to delete a song I’ve done that with no problem but I wanna know is there a way to delete a single track? Thank you.
Yes you can absolutely delete a single track. Go to a song then hit the "Mixing" button which is on the right hand side of your keyboard (second row down on the right hand side of the Data wheel). When you hit the mixing button it opens a window with all of the individual tracks on it. Using the arrow keys (below the data wheel) move to the track you want to delete. Then hit "Song" again to take yourself back to the main "Song" window. ("Song" is just to the right of the Data wheel). While in this main window in Song mode you can now hit the "Job" button (bottom row of buttons directly below the "song" button) and then hit the F5 or "Track" button below the display screen (second row of buttons below the screen and second button from the right). From there, using your Data wheel, select "Clear Track" then hit enter. Hope this helps.
@@cathyt6773 is there a way Miss Kathy that you could let me know on the arrow keys how many times on the cursor keys that I would have to go down in order to clear the track since I cannot see the data we might be a little bit hard to do on that last part but if you can tell me luck with the arrow keys how many times does scroll down to clear the track that would be great

Cathy how do I just simply delete the entire track (to start over)?
Hit the job button then F5 (track). Then select "clear track" and hit enter.
NICE!! Cat... will the screen show a keyboard grid where I can see or view the chords that I played in a particular measure or track? Thanks!!

The "clear track" option is option number 4. If your cursor is on the #1 spot, you just hit it 3 times to get to option number 4.@@cunningham2010
