Someone asked Jimi Hendrix what it was like to be the best guitarist player in the world...This was Woodstock! Jimi Hendrix turned to the guy and said, I don't know ! Ask Alvin Lee!"
I’m gonna miss the genius of Alvin Lee,his trade mark sound, & unique blues sound, once known the fastest blues guitar of his time. He was a one off special player….hard to replace,RIP
He was the ever best guitarist in my time. Im a 68 years old man, listened to Radio Luxenburg at 5 years old. It was a station in europe at that time, on longwave. Then came the Beatles, Stones aso. But one group, which is older then Stones, are Golden Earring from the Netherlands. They started 1961. But that old music, it is really music. So many bands from yesterday. I never forget Alvin. Saw him in Stockholm, Sweden, at Hard Rock Cafe 78, when he was solo. Magic. I was sitting on a pub, in Gothenburg early 80th. Two men standing there, played blues. Suddenly, Albert King came in. Maybe he had been on the concert hall there in the city, and just got out for a beer, I don´t know, but, when he came in where my wife and friends sat, having a beer, the first thing Albert did when he saw the two guys standing playing blues, Albert went to them, and said, Can I Play with you? The two guys, I saw their reaction, -YES OF COURSE. And Albert did. My ever best evening in my life, listening to music. Both are dead. I hope you live, I do. And thank you for writing here. All we people which are loving music, I think, we don´t want to have war and shit. My life I give the f-word to that. Donovan in the 60th, did a very clear song about that, Universal Soldier. So I keep it that way. And I just said to the army in the 70th, bye bye, and get some other to get out and kill someone, because the"higher" men or women say so. F them. Let the music rule.
At one of the very first free festivals in Bath Somerset in 69 or 70. These guys were totally incredible!! I was clean as! Still phenomenal. I'm 75 now. Nowt changes.
@@benfranckenfelder1827 have you heard it? if not give it a listen also check out their B sides which they wrote themselves they were a proper blues band in beginning check out early albums as Ambrose Slade
That early stereo sends the music swimming around your brain - wonderful.
Alvin Lee was and Is a legend, Ten Years After were awesome
The late and great Alvin Lee. Criminally overlooked by snobby music press.
My favorite TYA song
J'adore ce titre, c'est fin et formidablement joué à la Gibson ES 335 .
