Tore my ACL & meniscus while in the Army. I decided to have both replaced, so surgery was on a Sat, and they had me off my crutches by Mon afternoon. Keep up with your physical therapy exercises and rest when needed. You'll realize what you can and can't do every day, and you'll be surprised how mobile you can be and how much work you'll be able to get done. You two are a good team. Keep up the amazing attitude, and all will work out.
Wow!!! You're such a beast!! Thank you for your advice, it's been a journey so far for sure
I found you both fighting my second cancer diagnosis. At 50 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer as a male. Couldn't figure out while I was fatigued. I was working 60-hour weeks plus. Lifting weights and thinking what's wrong? After a lumpectomy I was shocked with the diagnosis. I went through everything that a woman goes through. I've had a radical mastectomy and 5 years of treatment. I was able to become cancer-free and realized I needed to start taking life day to day. Four years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. In the fight with that it has moved to stage 4 and now metastatic to my lungs. I've learned one thing, you take your challenge one day at a time. One step at a time. I guarantee you, you'll make it. You two stick together and two years from now you'll look back and say I did it. Stay strong. I can honestly tell you my journey looks like my life is now more towards the ending part of everything. Don't look at this as being so tragic, but as something that's going to make you so much better. You've got this.
Michael, thank you for sharing your story. You've been through so much, I can't even imagine how hard that must have been. You are a fighter, keep fighting! Thank you for your kind words of encouragement 💛
Good luck in your fight friend. Keep that positive outlook on life!
Wishing you the best of everything and fortitude, most of all.
God bless you, stay strong warrier.
Thank you Michael. I wish you the best of luck. Your words have helped me.
Your role is as skilled as Jays, The finishing touches is an art and not just anyone can finish something to completion/show worthy.
I can't freaking wait!!!! What happens next?!?!?!
Jay is one HECK of a craftsman isn't he?! And with Kels as his 'push', there isn't anything you two can't do. I'm very impressed. Thanks for the content.
“We were in a time crunch with only 11 days left in a build that’s maybe half done, so I decided to spend four days making a special light feature” 😂😂😂
This is the most uplifting thing I've watched in months. I have no right to speak for anyone else, so I will just say, thank you for letting me tag along with this incredible journey of yours, short as it was for me. :)
Good luck with the recovery. Since you were active and good shape before the tear you'll recover quicker than others.
"This girl is my secret weapon"
*sander runs away after it's plugged in*
🤣🤣🤣
I'm so excited to see the finished product! I love seeing the creativity you two put into your builds!
I'm glad the surgery went well and you're healing quickly! Stay safe!
You guys are so sweet. ❤ I know you’ve got this, as scary as it is, because my wife and I have been doing it, ourselves, following her shoulder replacement at the end of December. She’s 70 and I’m 72. It ain’t easy, and sometimes we feel defeated, but we have been able to get up, hug and kiss, and get back on the horse. All the best to you and yours! ❤❤❤
Wow, you guys are amazing!! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing💛
Beautiful job guys! I’m impressed
I'm recovering from the same surgery right now. Here's to a quick recovery 🙌
At 38 I found out I had both meniscuses broken. I was in bad shape, no workout whatsoever, a bit chubby, could not run 1km without spitting my heart out. I did surgery on both, my right knee I had 83% resection. Two years later, I ran a marathon, and running twice a week ever since. It changed my life, I never felt so healthy in my entire life! Good luck with your recovery!
Kels you are amazing storyteller and filmmaker! Love the journey
Prayers and hugs. You got this Kels and Jay.
I had my ACL repaired in my 40’s and the recovery isn’t that bad. They also told me a year but in reality the recovery is very front loaded. Basically I had normal functional use of my knee after three months for every day use and was downhill skiing after a year. What helped me most was keeping my knee moving and doing my physical therapy exercises.
Sending my thoughts and prayers for an uneventful and quick recovery!! Good luck!
Loved the ending so much. I hope your recovery is going well!
Girl, you got this. You and Jay have overcome every challenge thrown at you and you will overcome this too! Take care of yourself and give your body time to heal. I miss you Kiddo!!!!
I just adore the two of you! You keep fighting the good fight and enjoy this life for every ounce of happiness you can!
I've had 2 Meniscectomies; recovered fast from each and felt so much better with the knee repaired. I can't speak for the ACL, but if you do your therapy and don't push beyond what your Doc recommends, you will be stronger and fitter at the end. (I've also done an Ironman and 20+ 70.3s - enjoy the journey!)
Sending prayers for your healing. The airstream is awesome!
I had the same injury in my 20’s. In the hospital for 5 days. Non-Wright baring 3 months. On my how times have changed. Sending love and prayers for a quick recovery.
Oh wow! Non weight baring for 3 months sounds horrible, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Some doctors still do non weigh baring for 6 weeks. I got lucky and mine has recently changed his protocols. I think I'd go insane if I had to go 3 months though! Thanks for the kind words Carla 💛
I miss you guys! Wishing you both good health and good times🥰
I don't ever comment but I like how well you 2 work together and don't let obstacles put you down all the time. You're a great couple and I wish everyone could have what you do. Keep your head up and I look forward to seeing the rest
"If not now, when?" became my personal mantra after my wife passed away in 2016 from breast cancer. I love that you incorporate it into all of your builds. I need to do this in our Airstream now!!!
I'm a whole year behind on my mini camper conversion. I'll say this, take one day at the time. After last summer COVID landed on top of my Bronchitis, almost ended up in the hospital. 3 WEEKS I was never the same. It took all summer & fall to recover. My endurance was shot to hell. Even riding my bicycle was hard. Doing better, about to start projects once again. GOOD LUCK Guy's, your Airstream looks great.🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Well done vlog! I feel this channel is growing, kudos to you. Camper looks great. Heal swiftly!
I am currently building out my first trailer to live in full time, staying in my buddies' garage in the meantime so I can save on rent and put that into the trailer, love your guy's videos and love the story of the airstream so far. Its nice to see that even people who do these kinds of things for a living, still have struggles completing big projects like this, it makes me feel better for being so far behind schedule haha.
Proud of you both
Good luck on your build. It looks really good. Fast recovery.❤
Praise God for a successful surgery and your fast recovery. Hopefully your doing well with your therapy. A blessed weekend. In Jesus Christ name. Amen.
Oh no I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. I tore my ACL & meniscus back in August, had surgery in October. It's a long recovery to fully return to sports (getting ready to have a riding lesson for the first time in 8 months) but you should be back to building a lot sooner. You WILL compete in that Iron Man. Hang in there!!
So sorry to hear you went through that, but how exciting you're almost fully recovered! That gives me hope, thank you😊
So glad I stumbled on your channel. Love your videos-🙏 for a speedy recovery. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
I just finished watching all three of these build videos and I can't wait to see the finished Airstream. You guys are amazing.
We can't wait to share it with you guys! Thanks for being here and watching, it means a lot! 💛
I had a terrible skydiving accident. I broke both legs, my sacrum in 5 pieces, herniated two spine discs and as a result I’ve had 24 surgeries. My left femur would not rejoin and that took years of uncertainty and fear. I have some permanent nerve damage. The pain of breaking your sacrum is probably the worst pain in the universe. I have recovered and now I am a very advanced dressage rider. I ride 4 horses every day. Keep up your spirit, it will, pass.
You BOTH are my heroes!! The courage to take on something this huge is a skill set that I don't have. Best of luck😊😊😊😊
Hey, I’m a retired union painter, wood, fisher, paper hanger, and a lot of carpentry instruction trades and worked with women in the trades painting wood finishing you guys are a hell of a team ya bring to my eye both of you so compatible; hope for the future of ur generation watching you guys
I feel good when I see family work together ❤️
This build is my first time seeing your videos. You both do amazing work and you both are beautiful together. I wish you a speedy recovery. Can’t wait to see the end result. ❤
Well down guys. Love your project and team work. You're going to nail this one. Can't wait to see the final finishes
Bravo, folks. Bravo!
Praying for a speedy recovery from the surgery. And all the best for the build out of the airstream. Maybe used pallets would make a difference in costs. Wishing you a great journey ahead. 👍🏻😊
Thank you Hussein!! Great idea! We actually used pallets for our bus ceiling and loved the look of them. It takes a lot longer to make them look pretty, but totally worth it for the money they save!
Thank you for your reply. Access to a jointer and thicknesser planer would help. Hope that you are recovering from surgery and will be back to being able to continue with refurbishing the airstream. 😊😊
new subscriber here, been binge-watching you two, and I'm in awe of how well your relationship of yours is. such a project can be daunting. Jay my brother you're a artist and Kelsey, you're what makes him that, and get well soon. god, bless you both.
Good luck with the recovery from surgery! Give it time to heal, do your PT but dont overdue activity! It will keep improving, just be patient!
I'm impressed by your combined courage and I'm envious of your husband; what a lucky man.
You two did exceptional. You aimed for the starts and hit a near planet. I just found Jay and Kels on You Tube. Thank you for the share. John 3:16.
You both delight me! GUTSY GO GETTERS! I wish you all that is joyful.
Hey! Awesome build. I’ve been working on a kitchen in my landlords airstream for 6 months 😅
I just wanted to make a comment about the schluter shower pan. In future builds , if you use the foam shower pan it’s important that you use a larger tile. The small penny tiles will press through and could cause leaks with time. I’m not sure of the size but I think they have to be a minimum of 2” x 2” tile on those foam pans. Maybe 4”x4” minimum. I’m not totally sure but the pans specify what the smallest size tile you can use is! Cheers!
This video gave me hope that I’ll finish sometime soon!
Wow the airstream is looking incredible…. Great job.
Looking forward to seeing the transformation. Sending you healing vibes for your knee.
Sorry you didn’t get to the stage you wanted, and good luck with your healing.
Restoring airstreams isn’t easy or cheap , but you’re both doing great work.
I started restoring/converting a dilapidated airstream for a customer two years ago, he wanted to transport a racecar in it, and use it for trackside meet and greet. Swoping shell onto a 3axle car trailer, making electric opening up and over rear door , wiring lithium, inverter and winch etc, re skining inside aluminium plus insulation, I think I clocked up 400hours, and its not finished yet.
Big respect to you both for taking this on, and succeeding.😊😊
Wish you a speedy recovery 🙏
I'm positive you both will complete this build. Some things may require re-doing, or tweaking, no worries. Just work through them a step at a time & before you know it , all will be finnished. I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery. It will be awesome seeing the Airstream when it is completed. Coming in on time & buget, in my experience , is not always possible. You will complete it, be happy with the work & you have accomplished a lot already. Not much more to go, you've got this! And you can be proud of this project too!
Ah the cryo cuff. I have too many of those darn wonderful things. Good luck in the recovery. Don't push too hard and set yourself back. I have a friend and former teammate that did not start racing until he was in his 60s. Did his first of several RAAM races after 60. Another old friend of mine had numerous knee and shoulder replacment surgeries and was still cycling hundreds of miles a week into his 70s. Give yourself time and listen to those sadistic physical therapists.
The airstream is looking great BTW.
I started watching this channel for information on builds. Now I watch it because I fell in love with you two.
Бажаю вам швидкого одужання та відновлення ! Будьте здорові !👍
What an awesome job you two are doing and give yourself a break when it comes to your body!! Happy healing ❤️🩹
Damn I love your content and the down to earth you way you tell us about your projects..... hope you're knee is healing well and the airstream build is finished so we can take a tour...... love it so far
Thank you, that means a lot! We're moving in this week, so the tour is coming 😊
I tore my ACL and Meniscus as well. Replaced ACL and fixed meniscus with keyhole surgery. 6 months later I was doing 45km (30miles?) mountain bike rides again and running after a year. That was 9 years ago and I’m running marathons now (never did before injury.)
Best advice I can give is to Respect the Rehab. If the PT tells you to do X, you do X.
Good luck!
Astonishing amount of work. And so challenging at every turn. And you're making a video during the process! And then having to edit it! And you do it all so well. You're an amazing team.
That had me in tears..you are such a beautiful special fun couple . So lovely ..you follow your dreams an inspires us just to go for it an follow ours .. you are both so extremely talented ..your beautiful home is looking gorgeous . Wishing you a quick recovery, Kels!!! ❤
Thanks Lisa!!
I had to have ACL and Meniscus repair too, currently 2 weeks post op. It is challenging mentally and physically but we will get through this 👊🏽 Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery, one day at a time ❤
Happy the surgery went well, and looking forward to the tour of the finished build!
Thanks Mehaul! I hope all is well with you 😊
I have had three surgeries per leg and spent most of them with six weeks of external torture devices…er…”fixation”. I totally sympathize with what you’re going through. :-)
I hope you feel better and finish the build soon
Great job! Can't wait to see the tour! Get better soon!
good, cheap and quick. When buying, you get two. When building / restoring work you get one.
Stumbled upon your channel and love it. Great work and hopes for a speedy recovery.
So crazy that I've referenced ya'lls videos for my wife and I's bus build, and here ya'll are still converting and building. I will say that I agree about taking time to redo things. If I could redo our bus build I would do things differently.
I’ve had both ACL’s repaired and then replaced, as well as both Achilles. You’ll be fine, as long as you stick to your rehab program and don’t over do it or rush it.
I really enjoyed this video K & J! Great job with the story telling Kels! The airstream is coming along nicely and you guys should be proud! Team work makes the dream work. Woot woot for a speedy recovery! I am rooting for you!
I ADORE you two, and you never fail to impress me! Kels, I hope you heal up right and quickly.
Its nice to see so much love !!!!! Keep it up. OH your airstream looks great.
I felt very connected to you both. Very well done, great storytelling, and a beautiful example of a loving partnership. All my best for your recovery.
Hope you feeling better ..big healing hugs from Cyprus x
In your “failure” look at what you guys accomplished along with creating content and editing videos? You both are amazing and inspiring for “If not now, then when?”
Continued success, blessings, and healing of your knee as you adapt, improvise, and overcome.
Really glad your surgery went well kels&jay, ambitious project worth it in the end.
Really love the remodel. You definitely have some skills. What a daunting task!
you will be fine you have so much drive. i have disability that is life long that makes doing stuff for my micro camper take a few days instead of one but its not a race its doing my mental health so much good. stay strong and it will all work out
Beautiful work together! Can't wait to see the final tour! Hope your doing good, Kels. Today's knee surgeries are so much easier than they used to be. I had plates and screws put in my neck as well as two disc's removed and cadaver bone put in its place and I went home the next day and was back to work full time in 6 weeks!
Oh my gosh, that sounds intense! I'm glad you recovered so well, it could not have been an easy recovery. Thanks Kim 😊
You two r such a team together .proud of u both
You are very fortunate that you had a knee injury at this point in time. Knee surgeries have been revolutionized in the last 15 years.
I can’t wait to see the completion!!!
I tore my ACL in middle school, doing track. It will heal!
Kels you are a wonderful woman and Jay adores you and it comes through in everything you guys do! Relationships are what’s important and how you grow together not apart! I’ve watched everything you guys have built and the one steady thing that comes through is your dedication to your dreams and each other!
Aww this is the sweetest comment ever 🥺 thank you so much for supporting us and being here! I really am so grateful to have jay 💛
So proud of the positive waybwhich you both approach these challenged. U go guys!! Can't wait to hear about how u r gonna kick the swim legs butt since that's gonna be the easiest to use for recovery!
I love your channel! Speedy recovery 🙏 I always watch your videos because occasionally I get to reminisce my years of living in New Haven for over 30 yrs, now living in the south your channel always brings back memories 😊 ❤️ the airstream is looking dope AF... 🤜🤛 till the next episode, I'm looking forward to the tour till next time ✌️❤️
Thanks Pete, that's so nice to hear! I will live by New Haven having the best food in the country(especially the pizza). It has turned me into a complete pizza snob 😂
Yes Sally's pepe's on Wooster street I miss it I will go back to visit in Sept when I come back from Alaska
So proud of you guys!!!
Thank you Amy 💛💛💛
Can't wait till next episode! Great film making too! Great build 🎞💪💯
You guys have done an awesome job! Airstreams are beautiful compared to the rest. It looks great.
Great video guys, I really enjoyed this, you sound wise beyond your years.
YOU GUYS ARE AN AWSOME TEAM !!! MUCH RESPECT !!! I WISH ...... LIVE LONG AND PROSPER
bloody hell that fiber optic work is a labour of love
I’m so 😢 But you came through great and look what Hardwork does. It is amazing. Very proud of you guys.
Thank you for your kind words 💛💛
I enjoyed the video. Prayers for your speedy recovery. Hopefully I'll meet you two down the road at some KOA "Tin Can Tourist Convention"
Get well soon!
I’m very proud of the journey that you two have taken. It is such an inspiration to see how you’re passionate about your projects, and you always inspire me, making me smile. Sending prayers toward recovery/surgery, and wishing you well. Take your time as needed to feel safe, comfortable, and happy.
I’m so glad you’re on your way to recovery. And that airstream is looking amazing! I can not wait to see the finished home. Love the video too. Great job 👏🏽🥰
Thanks Leshaun!! 💛💛💛
both of you deserve the best live.
🥰
Daww, so do you!! 😊💛
Everything looks awesome. Great job👍👍
The only thing that might be a problem? if you tow the trailer on long trips, you're going to wish you had 4 tires instead of 2. Don't know why, but trailers are prone to get flat tires.
