      I started with cheap paint and cheap paper. The results were terrible but you do need improve quickly, which means making a lot of mistakes and you don't want to be too concerned about the cost of the sheet of paper you just threw away. Having done that for a while it's a relief to get some better quality material and immediately feel the benefits.

      FiveBelow sells watercolor paper that is pretty good for $5. I started with my son’s leftover kindergarten crayola watercolors and index cards, not perfect but it got me started making marks on paper. 🤷‍♀️ Best of luck on your artistic adventure!! 🖼️ 🎉

    When I’m in the mood for a step-by-step tutorial I seek you out because when I follow your instructions the results are undeniably better than what I usually achieve. Thanks for being such an excellent teacher that it actually makes me believe I can do more complex paintings and have good results. 🙂

    I learned these principles in more detail from your learning materials just about one year ago. I apply them to every reference photo that I like to pain and they work every time. This makes me more confident each time. Thank you for sharing your experience, your pieces are beautiful!

    Matthew, I've tried to use your technique of wetting the back of the paper but when I allow my initial wash to dry before painting the next layer, then so does the back dry. Do you then re-wet the back?

    • @learntopaintwatercolor
      @learntopaintwatercolor  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the paper dries all the way before moving on to the second wash. I only wet the back of the paper to start the painting.

      I think around year 2 or 3 I feel like I made good progress. I still am growing and have a long ways to go. That never ends.

    I've noticed this on a couple of your videos, but it sounds like something in your microphone signal chain is un-grounded. There's this low-frequency hum.
    If you can't figure out where the hum is coming from, you can also put a high-pass filter on the audio, which should clean up that sound as it's in the lower end of the frequency spectrum.
