It is such a shame when I hear about parents "protecting" their children from this film. It is such a grand masterpiece. It definitely rises above them all!
What do you mean by "protecting"?
So many say that their parents never allowed them to watch the film because of its adult themes. So tragic.
Nathan R. Bradford I though you were going to say because of it's religion-related music. I mean, it's still a Disney animated movie which is basically targets all audience of all ages. I see nothing wrong with this movie. I saw it as a kid, but don't remember anything of it, because I hated it. But now that I'm all grown up, I love it.
+Diego de la Vega The religious nature by itself didn't bother anyone. It's the fact that the most religious character in the film is also the most evil one that caused parents to shield their kids away from it.
I know. I think it is good that Disney wanted to go a bit darker than usual. It has some good messages and teaches kids to do the right thing, and to accept others for who they are.
Even though the musical hasn't been picked up for Broadway, it is a testament to the writers combined talents that the soundtrack continues to gathers new fans..I think they were robbed of their Oscar in 1997.

Smart guys, Alan Menken and Steven Schwartz! They did brilliant and solid music for Pocahontas, and even more so with Hunchback. Best songs in Hunchback are Heaven's Light, Hellfire, Out There, and The Bells of Notre Dame
I am happy to hear that Disney’s Hunchback is getting a live action remake, and that the fan base is growing and more people seem to enjoy it.

I know, right? Every time I hear someone mispronounce the cathedral's name, I want to scream, "It's 'Dom', you hillbilly! Not 'Daym'!"
I think that happens because there's a college in the States called Notre Dame and yet it's pronounced "Notre Daym" because 'Murica.
Anyone else think Stephen Schwartz is really hot here?
