    Great video. Do you know where the coolant level sensor is on this vehicle?

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  3 года назад

      Scott Bullins: Good question. The good news is the bottles have a place for a sensor but they don't use one on many of the vehicles including the one in the video. That's why they just put level marks on the bottle. That's how you check the level, just look at it. There is a coolant temperature sensor, but it's on the engine (driver's side) and that's another topic.

      Turn on all heaters and let it run for a while and they should eventually equalize.

    I bought the replacement and am prepared to do so. I do have a question; what’s the hole at the bottom of the reservoir for?

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  20 дней назад +1

      The bottles are designed with a place for a level sensor but they don't use one on most of the vehicles including the one in the video. Since it doesn't penetrate the tank, there's no need to eliminate it on some bottles. With level marks on the bottle, there's no need for a level sensor. Enjoy the install.

    I had to loosen the tank to put in a new battery and now it seems to be a little more jiggly than it was before (I think). How much should the tank be moving around? I don't want to cause a rattle or have the hoses wear out prematurely from the motion. Thank you.

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  Год назад

      Matt Elder: If both the mounting bolt and nut are tight but the tank feels looser than it was, it usually means the hanger on the rear of the tank that goes against the fender-well didn't hook on quite right. That's what I'm doing in the video at 4:45 . It's worth a check. I hope that helps.

    • @mattelder7485
      @mattelder7485 Год назад +1

      @@ScubaMoto Thank you. I did make sure that fell into the slot on the fender-well. I think the biggest problem is that the stupid mounts are plastic and it allows it a lot more freedom than good old metal. Also, having only two mounts diagonal from each other isn't the greatest design. I cussed out a few engineers when I replaced the battery given how much I had to move or remove just to switch out a battery!! Thank you, again.

    I did this in 08 Yukon 5.3 vortec my old one when filled would leak a little bit but once full it would stop and hold confused I bought a new one only to discover same exact thing hmm odd maybe that’s how they breath but it’s in the bottom corner somewhere does anybody notice this or just me ? Again once filled the don’t leak it’s very weird . Normal?

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  13 дней назад

      It's super common for replacement tanks to leak due to the casting error that I show in the video 2:13 . That's why I highly recommend smoothing that lower hose tube so it gets a better seal on the lower hose. When the lower hose tube leaks, it runs down under coolant tank and is often mistaken for a tank leak.

    I'm having coolant come out from the bottom was told a sensor went there but I didn't see you put nothing ?

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  2 года назад +1

      Tony Ramirez: The vehicle in the video does not use a coolant sensor at the bottle. The only coolant sensor it has is for temperature and it screws on the driver's side of the engine. The bottles have a place for a sensor but it would not likely be the site of a leak. These bottles usually leak at the seams or where the hoses attach.

    • @tonyramirez679
      @tonyramirez679 2 года назад

      @@ScubaMoto I'm having coolant come out from underneath what does that mean it aint cracked do I have air in the holes ?? Not overheating just seem to squirt out from the overflow tank underneath when I step on it cap is new and so is coolant reservoir

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  2 года назад +4

      Tony Ramirez: I'm pretty sure it's the lower hose leaking where it attaches. It's common with new bottles. That's why in the video at 2:12 I show that most new bottles have bad casting flaws where the bottom hose attaches and have to be scraped or sanded smooth. It is likely yours is also leaking due to casting flaws and is leaking and leaving fluid on the bottom of the bottle. With fluid everywhere it might be hard to confirm but if you dry everything off completely, you will likely find fluid first showing up on the bottom of the bottom hose. If so, then you need to smooth the lower hose nipple as shown in the video at 2:22 and then re-seal it with a good clamp. I hope that helps.
