    The significance of this video would be much greater if something was shown about how the newly opened space would be used, and what was done to substitute for the loss of that dining space.

    I really like the way you deconstructed the dinette, instead of just doing a demo with a crowbar. your way left you with re-usable hardware and some construction components that match the rest of the interior - though I totally agree that those window treatments simply needed to go far, far away!!

    Interested in what you do with the space
    A table and regular chairs actually takes up more space. Need to allow space to slide chairs out. Swivel chairs allow for easy access but are also a pain, predominantly in the knees. Have you considered narrow table along outside wall with small book shelves to frame window in place of the valance. We did that in one of our remodels. Built drawer cabinet to support table on either end to support table which gave back some storage

    • @Findingourspot
      @Findingourspot  5 лет назад

My granddaughter and I tore the dinette out to make room for addition seating and a nice cabinet which hold one of our litterboxes. It's a perfect fix. Thank you for the video. I am planning on purchasing a class A motorhome upon retirement in a couple years. I don't even own a motorhome yet and already know that the dinette is the first "upgrade" I will do! So much more space for living and to be honest, a nice t.v. tray will work just as well for my wife and myself.

    For me (because I am a crafter) I want all the inside storage space, and love the booth. We did take out the sofa and replaced it with recliners and had room for a small side table with drawers, Made it moveable as when you pull out chairs you need it to move out too. Then attached a floor lamp to the back (removed the base) so light is where it is needed. Enjoy what makes you happy.

      We're thinking of doing the same with our sofa. As a crochet addict (wife) I can say I have yarn stored in the most interesting places. But for current projects I always keep a basket with handles nearby so I can work in different places. As far as my collection (aka yarn stash), that's in the mini bar! lol. Thanks for watching! Love your YT handle!

    How funny!. I've just recently decided to reconfigure my dinette. However, I'm now planning on converting the seating on one side into a closet above table height and an electronics bay below table height. I'll reinstall the table against the new closet and probably either make it easily removable, or hinge it on the cabinet front.. This will leave me a sizeable storage closet, possibly a pantry, as well as much needed space for batteries and power electronics for the new solar power system. I'll have room for a comfortable desk/ office space with supporting cupboards overhead for supplies and business materials, and I will still have a tandem dining space, i f I occasionally want to use it for that. Since this space is just opposite my kitchen space, I will also be able to use it as much needed kitchen counter space, when needed. When I went looking for additional space in my Class A, I soon realizer that the dinette was not actually being used much for dining; I was using it as an office desk, but mostly it had become a place where I stacked stuff for lack of anywhere else to store it. When completed, I should have a working/ dining/ counter space, a large closet, and an easily accessible electronics bay, protected from weather and temperature extremes. In addition, I will have freed up basement storage space, where the current batteries and other electronics currently reside.
    Here's the downside: I'll need to modify the large exterior window adjacent to my dinette. However, I won't need it, and will simplify it by installing a smaller window adjacent to the tandem bench seat and red the fibreglass exterior where the original window was removed. I'm planning on a total repaint on the exterior, so a little body w?ork there will not be any real issue. On a practical, operational basis, I think this makes much better functional use of space, and it's past time this large, antiquated space be renovated. Thanks for inspiring me to push forward with this project!

    • @SPCLPONY
      @SPCLPONY 5 лет назад +2

      We bought our used 28' fifth wheel from the original owner who chose the table and four chairs vs a dinette with storage. Granted, the table and chairs do give a nicer look (many compliments), I agree that they take up just as much space as a dinette without the usefulness of under seat storage and a convertible bed for the grandkids. If I was going to remove a perfectly good dinette and window trim like these folks did, I'd ask around to see if anyone would want them. We ended up with a nice free sofa recliner to put in the rear where 2 swivel rockers once sat. A gentleman was redoing his camper and offered the unwanted items to anyone in the camp ground. The color scheme was close enough that one would think it came in our camper that way.

    Dinettes are so over rated in rv's.

    This shows Me why I would never own an RV. They are constructed so cheaply in an effort to save weight. RV's are already overpriced for what You get. Just a big money pit needing endless repairs.

      Hi Larry, it's actually a great build. The Newmars are very solid. I would buy another in a heartbeat ♥️
