  • Flathead represent a major stepping stone in every angler's journey through lure fishing. They are tasty, cool looking, fun fighters and very easy to catch! Due to the huge number of blowfish in the Swan River, the most effective way to target flathead is with lures.
    In this video, staff member Jayson talks you through everything you need to know, have and do to get into these wicked fish on light tackle on Perth's doorstep.
    What's more, there's a code in this video to give you access to special prices on a selection of popular and effective lures (in store and for one week only!) to give you the edge in your next flathead bash.

    Walk out far enough to cast back to shore. 12,3,6,9,12. 10 casts each direction. Hard bodied minnow slow retrieval. Usually hook up on 7th to 8th cast. Full circle then move repeat.

    Hey Jayson, one question what's your go to knot for your braid to fc leader? Thanks for the video too most appreciated as always.

      If you ask anyone, they will all have their own preferences. I personally always tie an FG before the session, but if I lose a leader and get too lazy I might tie a double uni instead. They're easy and pretty strong, but tend to not cast as well. FG is my knot of choice though.

    Love the video,I am keen to buy some soft plastics for flatties, what do you think will work and in what color in the swan?

    • @compleatanglernedlands4318
      @compleatanglernedlands4318  Год назад

      Swan flatties aren't particularly fussy, but colours that stand out in water like white will ensure they can see your lure more easily.

    Hey, thanks for the info on flattys, how should I work my rigge 70sp shallow on the flats aswell as the khamsin jr and tiny, thanks

    • @compleatanglernedlands4318
      @compleatanglernedlands4318  Год назад

      The best thing about these lures is that they can be both slow rolled and twitched across the flats. Twitch and pause is generally the most successful

    I wanted to but a Daiwa infeet rod but I need to decide between the 20 z one or the cheaper one ,I am getting a nice quality rod so it can last a few years without any problem?should I buy the 20 z that cost a bit more and has more resistance?

    • @compleatanglernedlands4318
      @compleatanglernedlands4318  Год назад

      The cheaper range represents excellent value for money, but there is no doubt that the Z series are nicer rods. Really depends on your style of fishing and how much you are willing to spend.

    Hey guys, what time of the year is the best for flatties? cheers Mike

    • @compleatanglernedlands4318
      @compleatanglernedlands4318  Год назад +1

      Hi Mike, summer is generally the best time of year for Swan River flatties, with high water temperatures making the fish active in the shallows.
