  • Almost half a year ago I ordered a professional heavy duty 3D welding table from a company in China and now that it has finally arrived here, I made this video to show you what a fixture table is, how to use it, how accurate it is and why they are so heavy and expensive.

    PRICE: Since this keeps coming up, you can expect to pay around 3k$ for the table I bought, plus around 1.5k for the tooling package, plus shipping, plus tax/customs fee. THESE ARE ROUGH ESTIMATES. You have to realize that this is not an "off the shelf" kind of Item you just put in your shopping cart. Shipping, Tax, Fees, etc. depend HUGELY on your location so there's no fixed number, and there's also many different sizes, surface treatments, sizes, etc. to pick from and they even do custom orders. This is why it's pointless to mention any fixed price, it's going to vary a lot depending on many factors. If you're interested in the product, you can contact Kovosu via DM on Instagram or write them an Email to sales@kovosu.com, tell them what you need and they will give you a quote.

      nice! so roughly 2/3 the price of a siegmund. what´s also nice is that the accessories seem to be compatible. So if you ever need some accessories quickly for a project (like larger angle pieces :) you can get those quickly locally. good your are not locked into a proprietary system with this table.

      Hi Phil, I really love your videos! And I absolutely like this review of this welding table. I actually requested a price quote. It's insane how many accessoiries you get for the money. I was wondering, you are living in Europe right? Did you had any trouble with paying extra importduties or customstax? I live in the Netherlands. Thank you!

  • @Bob_Adkins
    @Bob_Adkins 2 года назад +6

    That table is a dream come true what a great, lifetime tool... more like a fine instrument. I salute the manufacturer for his dream and for perfectly executing it. I'm a big fan of carbonitriding. Downside is, it's usually very thin thus can easily dent and furrow reflecting the softer metal beneath it, but it's nearly scratch-proof. So I was anxious when you banged on it. Welding warp is so unpredictable that it will take a long time to learn how to prevent warp. Jer Schmidt has it down pretty good. That table is probably great for building precision cabinets too!

    Another advantage the ball-pins have over threaded holes is precision alignment. Threads intentionally have clearance (play) for them to function, where as a pin can have a very close fit and still function. This means something bolted down can move out of square/straight, where as pins do not allow it to.

    • @PhilVandelay
      @PhilVandelay  3 года назад +3

      Yes true. One of the things I wanted to mention, along with the fact the the bolts are actually surface ground for precision and have O-rings to take out any play, but I felt there was too much talking already so I left some things out

    Hi Phil,
    Great video mate… lots of detail.
    Here in Australia, a local manufacturer has been building ( under licence) and selling the German Demmler tables for the last twenty years.
    About 16 years ago I bought one at a Sydney engineering exhibition .
    2000mm x 1000mm & 600kg.
    It is the ‘older’ design without the 3D sides, but the same 28mm precision holes @ 100 centres.
    Way too big now that I’m in my garage….. BUT…. one of the best investments I ever made.
    The table came with two two-tonne lifting eyes that are fixed using four of the standard ball-bolts.
    You should get many years of use out of it 👍
    Regards
    Robert

    • @PhilVandelay
      @PhilVandelay  3 года назад +2

      Yeah Demmeler is one brand I looked at too, looks very good. It's interesting about the ball bolts, I thought about doing that too but I wasn't sure how much weight they can support so I figured I'd rather not take any chances. But I've seen pictures of these tables being lifted with those so it seems to be common practice

    • @markeckles9931
      @markeckles9931 2 года назад

      28mm is the standard size for Bluco tables.. These are knock off tables you can buy from China and India. All the attachments are knock off too. Bluco tables are 1" thick or you could say 25.4mm. The bracing underside cross plates are 3/8 thick or 10mm. Bluco uses full 1" thick bracing and they are lifetime warrantied but the knock off tables only for 1 year.

    if you're wearing steel-toed and they fail they're made to fail in such a way that they cut your toes instead of crushing them as when you don't have steel toed. partially cut of toes are easier to save than crushed ones

    Hi just for your information the green 2t strop although in a basket configuration would make it have a solid of 4t. The way you used it was not a basket of 90° so it actually only will take 2.8t. Thats a big reduction of 4t and could catch you out.
    Look at the label you showed us it's rite there you had your thumb on it.
    I only say as I would hate for you to get hurt.
    Great videos and skill work. I am currently building your bike from your plans I purchased 👍 thanks for doing them.
    Kind regards

    One day your great-great-grandchildren will be watching this video as they fight amongst themselves over who gets to inherit the table from whichever of your great-grandchildren was lucky enough to inherit it before them.

    Excellent video, thank you! I even didn't know that company exist.
    What can you say about this table after 2 years of usage? Have you notice any negative aspects?

    Thanks you so much for the video. Very helpful! Is this one of Kovasu's cast iron tables? Or steel?
