Heavy Duty Welding Table Attachment for a Big Vise
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 июл 2021
- If you watched my recent videos you know I just bought a welding table and also just restored a very substantial old vise. To bring the two together, I decided to weld up this heavy duty "shelf" that attaches to the side of the welding table, which allows me to mount the vise without sacrificing any of the work surface. It's made from 12mm mild steel plates and custom nuts that engage in the tables hole system. This build gave my TIG Welder a serious workout, running the maximum of 200 amps most of the time!

This freackin' belt grinder man, it is so good!
Every time I see the welding table I feel you are just showing off. You have some really nice equipment and I am starting to get jealous! 👌😂
Nice work on the bracket!
Beautiful vice! I’m jealous. Great fab work too, super clean
Excellent work. Love that table. Love that vise, and love the new bracket for it. Keep up the good work
This was masterfully produced, both in product and video!!! Thank you so much!
Thanks. Phil. You made a pretty awesome vice base actually!
Nice first project for your new welding table!
You are transforming enineering into an art. Would like to express my sincere gratitude to you. Please keep up your work.
One of the best videos I've seen. The skill and craftsmanship are unbelievable! Very satisfying to watch!
That was oddly therapeutic. Nice work!
Congratulations for the table! It's a really nice stuff.
Nice work by the way and nice vise. greetings from Hungary.
Few words fantastic job compliments for the order and cleanliness
The extra attention to detail you do, where it is not needed, is a sign of a true craftsman! (Im referring to chamfering the base plate)
excellent design, exellent execution, excellent result!
A lovely bit of engineering that will see you through your entire life.
Now am certain you took long to post this one because you wanted it to super amazing, very clean job. Thanks
Excellent work👍👍👍. Thanks for sharing
Amazing work.
Top job mate, well done.
Phil that sander of yours works just awesome doesn't it! Well done on that build and nice job on this vise mount as well. You do damn fine work buddy!!!
You’ve made some
Really nice-really complicated stuff and, somehow, this is so simple and it’s one of my favorites.
Haha, I know what you mean. Something about it is just oddly satisfying, had the same feeling when making it
Nice work, kinda liked the chamfer on the belt as a quick way to do it 💪
Great and very creative job habibi !!!! Love it 👍💪
Nicely done sir!
Indiscutible muchísimo mejor que dentro de la mesa. Felicitaciones.
That is an awesome vise!
That, is a thing of beauty!
There's always an idea, it's amazing.
Epic work! Nicely done :D
Nice work 👍👍👍
Erstklassige Arbeit. Das Torx-shirt ist echt der Knaller. :--)
Blast it, Phil, now I’ve got vise/mount/bench envy.
Super nice!
Quando se tem ferramentas ,aí é outro nível
Отличная работа !
Show Off, LOL,, I have vice envy now. Great job.
AMAZING!!!
Maravilhoso trabalho, muito capricho , parabéns 👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
*Well done.*
สวยงามและแข็งแรงมากครับ
Nice vise shelf. We shared this video in our homemade tools forum this week :)
Ah maybe that's where the external views came from 😊

Nice job
This was a highly religious experience. Outstanding craftsmanship.
He’s back! glad to see you dog
Nice!
Good job, like full ❤
You could add a hand lever /wheel to the nut that controls the roatation so you don’t have to use a spanner every time ?
Yeah I'll probably add that at some point, although I don't really use the swivel feature very often, it's more of a "nice to have when you need it" thing
@@PhilVandelay being on the corner edge like it is you might only turn it 1 time a year ,, thats is a great set up ..
Hermosa pieza, sin duda alguna eres un crack gracias por compartir un poco de tus conocimientos por cierto dónde puedo conseguir una prensa dé estás que usas en el vídeo. saludos cordiales desde México
Nice.
In case no one mentioned it yet: The elevator music for the merch interlude is a very nice touch!!
Hi Phil, great video, that table is an absolute work of art! I wanted to let you know that the links in your description for the belt grinder and vise are mixed up. All the best.
Ah thanks for the info! I'll fix it
SPETTACOLO 💪
Nice Idea :)
ingenious design I need a vice mount like that... attached to a table just like that. I am gonna come steal yours.
i am sure i can strap it to the top of the getaway car... and that it will fit in the overhead storage on the plane back home. :):):):):):):):):):)
Hello Phil,
Very nice work sir... That welding bench is so nice, and on the vice stand, I really liked that you took the time to fill the gaps with weld... Just because you can't see something it does not mean it is not there...
Cheers.
Paul,,
Wow. Very nice. Actually I thought you were going to make a 90 degree angle bracket that would allow not just rotation in the azimuth (vertical) axis as you have done but also a second axis at 90 degrees. So you could not only yaw it but roll it as well. Perhaps a bit out there but something I have in my backlog of projects. In any case well done.
It's now obvious, on the first glance that bluing was a great move.
Bom dia para todos aos que assistem os vídeos deste canal. O projeto deste equipamento está excelente. Com este acessório é possível trabalhar com a morsa em todas as posições porque tem como girar a mesma na bancada 360°. Deus abençoe a todos.
I know it's an old video now for RUclips sence but did you think about making the Vice brackett swivel around some form of Rotator onThe side that way you could have more movement and a lot more way that you coulld hold work for more complex grinding worke But Love the Videos you do.
I like your show I like how you do things and just fascinates me how you do things so well I watch a lot of other machine shop shows I watch mr. Pete I watch Keith Walker hey Barnes a bomb 79 I watch this watch this show to there's a lot of shows on here I watch have to do with machine shop stuff I'm into machine something like to learn more about it I try to watch your shows much I can you have a good day bye-bye
Beautiful job Phil, looks outstanding! BTW, the shirts arrived and they are fantastic-We really love them-Well done Thanks ✅👍👍
Nice, glad you like them!
Hermoso tornillo de banco, me podrías decir dónde puedo comprar uno igual porfas mi estimado
Tuyệt vời bạn .
What brand of vise is the one in the video? Thanks
👍
Moin Phil!
Large Vise/Vice. (Wonders aloud, “where can I get one like that?”)
Very nice man........whats up with that probe? You like it? Have always considered getting one of those
It's a bit quicker then the spinny ones and I think a bit more reliable but I guess that depends on the operator. Overall I prefer it, well worth the ~30 bucks I think I spent
Класс!👍
🥇
Everything that you do is really Amazing. Where are you from? Regards from Venezuela 🛠🇻🇪
Thanks! From Germany
@@PhilVandelay GERMANY = Where mechanical art is born
Hola Phil, trabajo impecable característico de usted. Que marca y que tamaño es ese tornillo de banco? Gracias
Sadly I don't know, I bought it used but I don't know where it came from originally. Not sure about the size but it weighs about 50kgs so pretty heavy
@@PhilVandelay Gracias por responder.
Ow... 08:44 and 08:51... I think that's called satisfaction
Hi
This is a great job.
Where are you buy a original sieg(red) machine?
In Germany they are sold by a company called "Paulimot"
Are you using a stubby gas lens on your torch or are you still using the old style stuff?
On my regular torch I do, but it's only rated to about 150A and it literally started smoking here after a few minutes, so I had to switch to my old clunky torch with the old school gas nozzle
You should add a filter to your camera when filming welding. The bright arc can easily leave hot pixels on your sensor, damaging it permanently.
I've heard about this before, but I've been filming welding shots for years and my cameras are fine.
Why didn't you weld right up to and around the ends of the webs? Surly leaving them as you did will introduce stress risers for cracks to propagate from? That said, it looks pretty well over engineered, so unless you're intending to use it to clamp 1" bar stock while you cold bend it with a sledgehammer it's probably going to hold up perfectly fine.
Fair point, as for why, I didn't want to put even more heat into that plate since the thing already started to warp, but also like you said, it's overbuilt as it is, so I figured it's not necessary. I wasn't even going to weld the inside at first but I figured if I don't, somebody is going to comment on it ;)
I'm pretty sure if you destruction-tested this, the mounting bolts would shear off before the shelf takes significant damage - but I think we'll never know
What tool did you use to tap on the mill? It seems you just chuck the tap in the mill's collet?
Yeah works just fine for through holes, for blind holes I usually just machine tap the first few revolutions and then move the spindle by hand.
@@PhilVandelay So How many Broken Taps ! Doing !! That ! This way ! Then !??
Are you left handed or like me you find the tig torch easier to handle and feed with your dominant hand?
I'm left handed
What Dominant Hand ! Is ! That !??
Great job, very inspiring.
What is your shop floor made of? (Y)
I just rent this place so I'm not entirely sure. But the floor itself is concrete and I think they use some kind of black floor paint on it. It's quite durable but you can chip it when sharp objects fall down. Overall best floor I've ever had in a shop, although it soaks up a lot of light
@@PhilVandelay It almost looked like some kind of rubber mat. Thank you for your videos , once again
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Something OVERLOOKED ! THERE !! AND ! TOO MUCH ! WELDING !! OVERKILL !! TOO !! BUT ! THANKS FOR YOUR IDEA ! HERE !
Moin, was für eine Fräse benutzt du aktuell?
Sieg SX4
Can you hammer on it? Or is it too risky
Depends on how big the Hammer is I guess but I think it would take a lot to damage/bend this
👍🙂
A) Nice precision workmanship
B) don't you think that for a heavy duty vice bracket you rather over-did the precision workmanship? :-)
Yes probably, but there's just something satisfying about overdoing things
@@PhilVandelay YOU !! MUST !! HAVE !! AN !!. ABSOLUTE !! LOT !! OF !! SCRAP !! METAL !! LYING !! AROUND !! EVERYWHERE !!??

молодец, придумал сам себе работу
SHOW SHOW SHOW
no gun blueing?
I was going to but it's always a bit of a hassle to get it even with large surfaces. Maybe I'll blue it later if I feel like it
why tig use stick welding it cost less
Geil
well, it was no problem with you being talking) in case you were interested.
Phil Are you left-handed?
yup
Nice work! BUT BUT BUT you will warp Your welding table with that weight!!!
Lol are you serious
don't you have a plasma cutter lol
Attach that heavy vise to flat table is a bad idea
Hey you did not tell us about your sandblasting station...Wtf 🤬
Just for your safety, don’t wear gloves if you’re using the linisher with the work plate. If you touch it with the glove it will get sucked in between the belt and the plate and your finger will be stuck there getting ground.
It sure beats a quick scrape.
