Great review. After owning 16 Corvettes I bought a 2023 1LT with zero options in July. After 2 months and 2,800 miles, hands down the best Vette I've ever driven. Fantastic car and with unbelievable bang for the buck. I miss nothing of from the higher trim levels or performance options.
Nice car but even base vetted is overpriced.
@@tonyn3227 Can you buy a comparable car for less? No, you cannot.
@8thbug it doesn't matter if you cannot, cars are so fukin overpriced, it's not even funny,
Curious what do u do for work to have had 16 different corvettes
16 corvettes is crazy
Good luck trying to find a dealer that will sell you one at that price unless you're married to his daughter.
What if I am making his wife satisfied and “off his to-do list”, so to speak? Will that help?
You can actually get them for MSRP now it is just hard ro find one without any added option as most dealers add extra features but it still MSRP. If you want to pay $62k for the lowest options you most likely have to build and order it and all you’ll pay is the delivery cost and taxes/fees. Also the amount of 2024 C8 Stingrays is insane so you’ll see them sitting at or below msrp next year. You will also see used stingrays for $50s on the lowest trims. The Z06 and E-Ray will be the ones holding the value now.
@Duke…. Now, do you want pretty or the car for MSRP? You can’t have both. 😃
Dealerships who do markups deserve to go bankrupt and I hope they all do
Hey those dealerships are just trying to make a living /s
They were dumping new C7s for $45k before these arrived.
That appears to be the deal of the century at this point, those were well bought, whether or not the buyers knew it at the time.
Yep were several new 2019 c7 down in Miami in late 2019. Thought about buying a black for for that price. Ended up waiting two and a half years to get a c8. I regret not getting that c7 now
@@mumwifeteacher sold my c8 but still have a 2020 Sierra. Not paying for OnStar at this or any other time. Had my truck for about 46 months. What are you saying about OnStar?
C7 is a better Vette imo - three pedals, easier to wrench on, and way cheaper
Yes and front engine which I prefer.
Base trim is the way to go for an everyday vehicle with this car.
$68k for the base model these days! Anyone remember Chevrolet announced the Corvette would be just a five dollar bill under $60k at debut just 3 years ago?
Of course everyone remembers. Then we had a 1.23% inflation in 2020, then 4.7% in 2021, and 8% in 2022. It’s not a huge mystery.
@@huskytales9839 No and the stealerships too.
$67,000.??? WTF happened with the $60,000 base.???
Yep I remember
If you do huskytales inflation math above starting with the $59,995 you end up with a price of $68,674. Just sayin@@marblox9300
TFL should review base models more often.
1LT is OK for some drivers. I have 2LT and super happy with blind spot alerts, front cameras, camera rear view mirror, memory seats which goes back when you need to get out of the car, etc etc ... and 20 other things. If you can swing an extra 5K it is way worth it.
The only features I miss in my 1LT are blind spot monitoring and heated/cooled seats. But I don't miss them as much as I would miss the $7000 to go up to the 2LT. It's the same style, performance, and fun for under 70k. If you're just using it for fun weekend driving and not taking it to the track, 1LT is a solid pick.
There are also negligible differences in the intake and engine. I went with a 1LT cause I only drive the car a few times a month, almost exclusively at the track. If it were a semi daily driver I'd have sprung for the extras.
I totally agree with your review. Safety first!
The front lift option is the best option for the corvette. The problem you did not point out is when you sell it. You can always find a person who has no idea what the car is missing. As they said you get for what you pay for. 😂
its not 5k its 7
As a diehard hater of wings and spoilers, I whole heartedly approve that spec.
Me too - most of the add on pieces today look stupid. It's not like a 1970 GSX or 1969 GTO Judge.
Love that color. That is the Vette I would buy. Nice clean look.
I think Chevy stole that color from Toyota. I have a Tacoma in that color, Lunar Rock
No thanks. All my Corvette’s have been bright, brilliant colors (yellow, red, orange). Sports cars are supposed to have sporty colors.
I need that 3LT convertible with the red dipped interior 🤤
Absolutely great option if you're planning to mod it! No point in getting extras if you're just gonna replace half the car anyway
my thoughts exactly
$67,000.??? WTF happened with the $60,000 base.???
Absolutely spot-on Tommy!!! This is the best value sports car in the Auto industry.. I work at the Chevrolet dealer as a technician in this is the greatest value ever.. the other thing to mention is with the hardtop you can actually see the engine!! The convertible is heavier and you cannot see the engine..
I read the convertible actually has more headroom. Is that true? I just think the vert looks better top up.
I 100% agree with you! It sucks that the dealers don't have 1LT's on their showroom floor.
Unless you order one - you won't find a 1LT anywhere. They basically don't make them. They like the markups on the upscaled trims - while still bragging about the lower starting price.
@@marblox9300 100 % correct.......i was told you cannot touch any new vette for less than 90k.......this video is bee es.........just like ford maverick starting at 20k........try 30k+........yup you will be gouged even more so after the uaw strike!
@@marblox9300 Even if you order one the dealer will still mark it up. It's ridiculous that you can't buy a car in the US direct from the automaker at the advertised price.
@@Livinghighandwiseexcept for Tesla…
Now Chevy is making a lunar rock/cactus grey color!
If you can tell me where I can get one for $68k, I'll buy it today....
3 - 6 month wait time
macmulkin in new hampshire, MSRP, ~$500 admin fee, destination charge, your state taxes/fees & a courtesy delivery depending on your state.
Now they’re so cheap
Ciocca in NJ
Great video and totally agree. I ordered my 2019 as a base model with only a couple of cosmetic changes: different rims, red calipers & twin stripes the length of the car. My next new Corvette with be very similar, LT1 and minimal add ones. Thanks for the video.
Great video! I wish there were more reviews of base cars. Too many RUclips reviewers show the maxed out car, but usually I want a base with a few performance options.
Unfortunately brands stock their press fleets with mostly top spec models.
The addition of the Rear Camera Mirror as standard even to the base model is a good move!
This is the exact spec that I’d go for right down to the color choices. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Never forget how a stock one smoked a hellcat on a unprepared road in the 1/4 mile
I've been very happy with my basic 2016 Stingray for the past 8 years.
😂😂😂😂
7 years
4+3=8 Math is hard
@@efabiano82 my 2016 Stingray was delivered summer of 2015.
It's on my channel.
@@efabiano82 Wrong!
This C8 styling is the first Corvette design that I would like to buy in many years. This is ( to me ) a beautiful design in styling and powertrain choice.
Fantastic looking car!
Congratulations with bad taste.
@@mlqds it’s a great looking piece of art what are you talking about ?
@@niqqaa The Corvette c5 was a great looking car, the corvette c4 was a masterpiece. But this monster has ridiculosly bad, cartoonishly exaggerated yet infantile design. It just looks like a crossbreed between an angry asian insect and a grown fat transformer. Sorry you have bad taste too..
Excellently done, informative & eye opening regarding value!!
Nov 2018 I bought a 2019 lt1 with only the z51 package. It listed for 66k. So by all standards the 2024 is a great price
Love my 1LT with performance exhaust, low wing, gloss black wheels. $70,265
Vettes are usually MSRP and have been for many years. Great review and info. I'm thinking about ordering one, with only the 2LT as an option, the rest of the car base.
I have a C8 1LT. It’s a convertible and Z51. I love it. My last car a C7 was a 2LT. But I don’t miss anything it had. I got my C8 at msrp.
I like that color combo, green with white interior.
I bought a 1LT Convertible with the performance exhaust.
Absolutely love the convertible design over the coupe. The roll bars make it look so much better.
Love love love my Corvette. Always wanted one as a kid and finally have one to drive places on weekends
Bought my 23' C8 1LT at MSRP..... waited eleven months, well worth the wait.
Beautiful car. If I was looking to buy a Corvette, I'd buy it used and the base model would be my choice as well.
Unfortunately, you still can’t really find a used one LT for less than 65K
The coupe actually looks better than the convertible in the C8. All previous gens of the Vette had the convert looking better.
Thanks for taking the time !😊
1LT = No lane assist. No rear view camera. No heads up display. No folding side mirrors. All items that should be standard on the 1LT imo. You also must opt for a 2LT if you want front lift which is a must in San Francisco
If I lived in SF the only "must have" would be a moving van.
@@briand9125 It's my hometown and a great place to live. Now off to the beach!
@johnnyparker2128 Its a.shit hole
The only options I would really want in a C8 is the sports exhaust and the magnetic dampers (if they aren't standard).
Beyond that. I'd be pretty happy with a "base model"
The magnetic dampers is the huge selling point to upgrade.... same thing with Colorado ZR2's, TRD PRO Tacomas, all of them. We all want Fox shocks, Camaro ZL1 1LE suspensions.
Cost me near $2k for Magnetic Ride Control, not a cheap option.
MagnaRide suspension? Definitely. I ordered the sport exhaust on my full load C8, and still replaced it with a Paragon Performance Track Exhaust. Outstanding. This car gets raves/comments everywhere I go. I recommend skipping the factory sport exhaust and installing aftermarket. There are great exhausts to choose from.
@@C5Ron7 yeah, but considering the upside, I'd happily spend that.
I wonder if many owners can truly enjoy a car like this? Most owners would need to drive way out of town to safely drive these with any heavy foot. Way too much horsepower for inexperienced drivers or person under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Even mature Doctor I know met his demise on first day of ownership in similar vehicle. For the elderly drivers, the ingress and egress is limited. A rolling coffin or money wasted on very impractical transportation ? Former owner of two of these 💸🏴☠️🫣. Never again!
You really don’t need anything else the engine is the same in the 3 trim levels its just all the fancy stuff that will probably break that changes them . Although if i was buying one I’d choose a color that allows you to have the red interior which does look excellent.
No lumbar support is a mad ting on 2023 sports car. That on its own kills LT1 for me.
About the same price as a Mustang Dark Horse loaded (althrough I have see these going for 85k at my Ford dealer) and I would much rather have this than the Dark Horse. and Duide, it is under 3 seconds zerp to 60, not 4.
Waiting on my 1LT base model build 🔥🔥🔥
Great review Tommy 👍🏻
Excellent review! Agree 100%. I actually like this car better than the 3LT etc. Great wheels and color. Reminds me of older Vettes in a simple way. This is the model I would get if I were in the market.
Yes! Less to break. Most of my vehicles close to base but so well spec'd, it looks great.
B I N G O......I'm a person that doesn't appreciate EVERY CONCIEVABLE OPTION. I love this and would even order mine with STANDARD wheels. Great review ...THANKS !
Honestly - I wish I could get one with NO Air-Conditioning and Crank Windows. Simple to me is BETTER. More STUFF = more stuff to break.
The light green is stunning and goes so well with the black grill !!
The C8 base model was under $60k when launched in 2020.
$68k for this? In this economy? Has everyone lost their minds?
I went 1LT wit a 6 month wait at MSRP. Not a bells & whistles guy, the higher trims add NO extra HP.
I totally agree. I purchased a '24 1LT with only a wheel option and the body color side scoop option(ridiculously over priced). I paid MSRP, came to about 72K. I've driven it about 3k miles and wouldn't change a thing. I not only don't miss all the extras, I think a lot of that stuff looks silly much like a a naturally beautiful woman with too much make up. As for performance, this car is far more capable than most of you who are reading this. It is an incredible car and an even more incredible value.
Great arguing points... I agree with everything you said.
I'm so glad I got a 2019 top trim I still have everything a standard 24 vette comes with plus a good bit of extra. Maybe I need to ask my dealer about a trade for the 1LT I've always wanted a vetted. I have no need for a super car like performance. I just need the awesome, outstanding look and feel of a corvette. I believe the 2024 1 lt vette is perfect for my next new vehicle❤
Just got my 1lt and love it, more car then others and love driving it too.
Good luck finding that. Have fun waiting if you order. Need a 2LT. Waiting for my 2024. 😊
Thanks for the good info.I have a C4,and still love Vettes
The base corvette is a great car from the curb you can’t tell it’s a base car
One of the best presentations about a car. I have been shopping and I am glad I watched this one.
Too bad you can't actually buy one for MSRP
Definitely can, just gotta wait a few months. Mine should be here in Nov @ MSRP
You can. Many dealers sell them for msrp. Or order one and wait 4 months.
Can in my area. Just can’t get it on the lot in stock. People are impatient and pay for that.
Exactly. I got my wife a new Lexus Hybrid SUV at MSRP but waited a few months, which I am perfectly ok with. Don’t want to wait, pay that $3-5K markup. Simple.
You can!
My 2020 1LT HTC has only the sport exhaust option. 3 years on & 14000 miles I’m not missing a thing!
I miss the days of configuring a car "à la carte". Sure, sometimes packages can be good and save you a few dollars, but sometimes you just want one item and one item alone, and that, for me, has often been the deal breaker between a purchase.
Yep, that's before my time, but I've heard fun stories of ordering cars and picking and choosing from a LOOONG list of individual options. You could really personalize it exactly how you wanted it.
You should be able to order crank down windows…or at least the option of both.
strange location for physical volume knob. It would make more sense on the lower right corner of the screen instead of the upper left corner.
I love the paint color. I thought Kelly Green would be out-of-date but it looks awesome!
Not sure about base, but lower spec is better than higher spec for the money IMO. Maybe base 2LT.
I’m still not too crazy about the C8 design. But definitely a great deal with this one if you can get it.
It looks generic, like video game model that shuldnt hit any true world copyright
LOLOLOL....Not crazy about the design? Get a pair of glasses. You'd probably complain about a BJ.............Goofball!!
They based it loosely on the Ferrari 458 but wanted to keep it somewhat Corvettish.
Definitely not as cool looking as the Ferrari or a Ford GT. But then it's cheaper and more practical.
Base C8 Corvette 0-60 mph of 2.9 seconds. Top track speed of 194 mph. 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Just under 3 second not 4 second. Good luck buy a base Corvette, thanks for all your videos!
He said "real world" under 4 sec and he's correct. Real world RUclipsrs are getting JUST under 4 sec even with the Z06...
These don't exist! Chevy doesn't make base c8.
Bought a 2024 base model last week. Other than the trans feeling awkward on shift points, it cant go over a speed hump or up my driveway without scratching. Should have gotten the height lifter!
…$69K we see what you did there,😂NiCE!🥳🎉
Great video although some of his numbers are a wee bit off. I am a fan of base cars and finishing them the way I like them.
I love the look and color of this basic C8 Corvette.
I just picked up a 2024 1LT in that same cacti green color, with the factory Performance Exhaust, for $67.6k. Loud, few extra HP, leather seats, power everything, 10 speaker Bose audio, remote start, etc... What else do you need in a sports car?
2024 1lt w performance exhaust is 72-73k I thought? Did you get yours for that much below msrp? if so that’s such a steal! I’m planning to get a 1lt but in red this year. Hope you are enjoying your American Ferrari!!
@@metaroar1959 It is, but you can now find them selling under MSRP, which is what I did.
Where can I order a c8 1LT. For msrp or just like 1000 over mark up max ?
No freaking way! I’m going to buy one asap!
That color is sick. The corvette museum is pretty cool to pick up your car from.
Those new rims are sweet
Anything’s better than horribly ugly black wheels.
Here we are in 2024, and I still haven’t grown to like the styling of the new vet. I should’ve followed my instincts and bought the carbon C7 back in 2017 when I was on the fence. It was pure, white and gorgeous, but I just couldn’t get over for my stuff. Still, if I had to do it over again, I probably would. 🤷♂️
What we need are factory direct buying options that cut the greedy ass dealers out of the loop because we will never get that pricing anywhere. Dealerships suck period and they won’t learn their lesson till we cut them out of the process. There’s profit and there’s outright greedy bastards who lie cheat and steal any way they can.
Some SoCal dealerships have A LOT OF these 1LTs in stock. I wonder if they could be purchased with LOWER THAN MSRP prices.
In SoCal these vehicles are a dime a dozen, the luster has been lost due to their mass production. Every time I see one I wonder if it’s a 2021 or 2022 where dude paid 20-30k over 😂
Bro very helpful video. 👍🏻 I request you to make a video on lotus emira i4 base.
This makes a lot of sense. Trying to sell people expensive cars and Corvettes to people trying to be able to afford food.
Nice car, nice as hell. Love the color combination.
Rear Spoiler on other trims look horrible. Tacky.
The no rear spoiler looks excellent
really great video thanks!!
Like they always say....get fewer options...not as many things to go wrong.
I'll wait till they put on better looking ROUND tail lights. Then I'll opt for the base 1LT.
Under $70k is an amazing value proposition to buy a piece of historic Americana. Def on my radar!
A very, very pretty car. Love the smooth rear end w/o the foil. Love the color, yet no thanks to white seats. 👍🏻
I just bought a cacti green c8 3lt. It really depends on the purchaser. Me personally I couldn’t get base model. My Acura is one trim above the base on it. So it was only fair to go all out on my corvette. It’s not my daily and I wanted z51 performance.
this is the model to get for the modder/tinkerer
Don’t want a screen. Gauges or forget it.
Unless you order one - you won't find a 1LT anywhere. They basically don't make them. They like the markups on the upscaled trim - while still bragging about the lower starting price.
The first time I saw that power latching trunk lid was on my dad’s 1982 Cadillac Eldorado. GM seems very attached to that feature.
At that time, I assumed it was some sort of safety device to prevent your rival gangsters … I mean luggage … from escaping.
I own a C8 3lt conv. I agree with you. I plan to order @2024 coupe in a 2lt in the cacti
Rare video here to high light the base model Corvette, funny it looks so much better then the high end beef up vettes.
Love that color.
A lot of "ifs" there at the end.
One thing to know about Corvettes is that for the first couple of years GM works on fixing everything that keeps breaking. After year 3 or 4 they perfect the model they have. Now, if they make a newer model then the process repeats again. Coming from a former Corvette owner. Don’t waste your time with the first model years.
Just an excellent review. Im good with a 1LT coupe.
We know it goes fast but how is the ride? Smooth? Choppy? How is the handling now with the engine towards the back?
I would spend the extra for 3LT, Z51, front lift, mag ride, and HTC.
In my opinion the 1lt has everything you need and then some why would you get more? Your buying a sports car not a luxury car
C8 is one of the best deals in a sports car.
