    Malone legend at 38 years old back then. Consisten for 20 years of career. 25-10-4 at 51% fg. Amazing.

    This began the rise of prominence for the Dallas Mavericks starting with Dirk Nowitzki and I remember telling my friends in the 2nd grade that he will be a future hall of famer and they laughed at me.
    Now, in 2014 this man is still playing at a high level at an advanced age now. This Utah team was shell of itself and was too old for the young and fresh Mavericks team. It took a lot growing pains and playoff upsets for the Mavericks to hold a championship until 2011 with their upset of Miami's big 3 in 6 games.

    Karl Malone was so good for such a long time. He was 38 years old at this point, and had barely lost a step.

    Malone playing beastly mode; especially that playing the lane steal, then turns on the afterburners for the break away jam.....that man was on a mission still. lol

      if he would join stars like LeDiva James , he would have many rings 4 sure , players these days got no loyalty and dignity , just watch Kevin Durant , and those crazy trades , Isiah Thomas going 2 Cavs then Carmelo joining 2 superstars .

    1. For as much flack as Shawn Bradley gets, he was actually a good player and people tried to pick on him because they got annoyed that he would block their shots all the time (top 20 in blocks all time.) Also, what excuses do people have for Karl Malone failing to make another finals appearance from 1999-2002? Not only that, he lost a 2-0 lead in the first round to this young Dallas team and lost game 5 on a porous 9-28 shooting.

      chitownkidd33 lakers duh. Remember prime shaq and frobe? Yeah it was spurs in 99 btw. Blazers and Kings also emerged in 2000s so those could be his excuses and also advanced age.

      Plus he let Calvin Booth get the series-winning basket, and missed the series-winning attempt of his own on the other end. Painful. Blew what turned out to be the Jazz's last shot at the conference semis in the Stockton-Malone era (Sacramento booted them with ease in the first round the next two years).

    • @stdev.
      @stdev. 6 лет назад

      whatever man, the Jazz didn't meet the Lakers in the playoffs between 1998 and 2008. Perhaps some regular season losses knocked down their seeding. Your claim is still a stretch.

      @@dagameplayer If Duncan hadn't come into the league with David Robinson and played for pop he would have been way less recogonized.. Dirk played with one decent bigman in his career and won a championship...Malone and Stockton both elevated their stock.. and they never won a championship... McHale Played with Parish and Bird... Dirk was treated like garbage by the refs and STILLL is a top 6 scorer... what does that tell you..
      Dirk > Kobe too...

    • @dagameplayer
      @dagameplayer 5 лет назад

      @@MisterFuturtastic Uh what? Duncan was a once in a lifetime type of superstar coming out of college. He was going to be great no matter what team he played for, but sure. Pop helped him out a lot. They built their legacies up together.
      As for Dirk. Don Nelson, Avery Johnson and Rick Carlisle were all great coaches with him but at the end of the year there can only be one winner. Just didn't work out for Dirk as much as others considering he had to go through the Shaq and Kobe era, Duncans Spurs and other teams. He had his moment in 2011 though.

    • @MisterFuturtastic
      @MisterFuturtastic 5 лет назад +1

      @@dagameplayer Yeah.. you mention Shaq and Kobe.. 2 stars.. Duncan came in with Robinson.. Dirk came in with Shawn Bradley.. lol
      Avery Johnson.. lol Nellie was treated like crap by the refs too. He would have dominated in this era if he was coaching now because the league has changed so much. It's funny because Dirk and Nellie created this era but they never really got to benefit from it because Dirk never had a real star playing with him in their prime. Nash benefited from Dirk not the other way around. Look at Durant and how everyone thinks he is a god.. look who he played with starting out. Same with Curry and Klay... Nash was a great facilitator but he wasn't a true star. He couldn't carry a team like stars can. That's the only real star Dirk played with in his career and he was flawed. Duncan benefitted his entire career because he came in with Robinson and had Pop.. Dirk was trashed because he didn't go to college to show how dominant he was and came in the NBA on a terrible team without a real star. Kobe benefitted the same way as Duncan comin in with Shaq and having Phil as his coach... Even had Horry who was a poor man's Dirk.

      Duncan was a center tho and played like center not really a pure PF like Malone and Barkley. Dirk was clutch amazing on offense but never really had that stellar defense. IMO KG was better than both of them so ranking my list on PFs would be
      1. Malone
      2. KG
      3. Barkley
      4. Dirk
      5. McHale

      No, that would be the 1985 Celtics. The 90's Bulls played during a watered down, expansion league. They would not have won any championships if they had played against the 80's teams. They would not have made it out of the Eastern Conference. There's a reason why they didn't win until 1991. The 1996 Bulls team would have been mauled by the 1980's Celtics, 76ers, Hawks, and Pistons. If they did make it out of the Eastern Conference then the Lakers would have crushed them.

    • @edmundofcordova
      @edmundofcordova 9 лет назад +1

      Stockton. But nash is more fancy. Stockton is all business. Stockton is tough, and gritty. Besides leading in assists, stockton leads in steals by a hung margin too. I'm convinced that nba rigs games. That's why he and Malone doesn't have a ring

    • @stdev.
      @stdev. 7 лет назад +1

      They don't have a ring because Malone wasn't clutch and Bryon Russell was their top wing defender. Jordan owned him over and over. Stockton fought like hell and frequently carried the team in late-game situations. Just couldn't come through when it mattered most, partly because it was a huge mismatch when the Bulls put Ron Harper and Scottie Pippen on him.

    Malone is nothing compared to Dirk, Malone one shot only open cause of Stockton, Dirk invents creates hits much bigger shots, Hornceck schools kobe 27 pts to koblow 6 pts every time, and malone could never win cause he only had one move that 99 % depended on Stockton. Dirk is better than Hakeem or any one else, watch the plays develop, Dirk takes over, the rest have point guards that carry them and a center and a legit 2 and 3 rd scorer

So Jabbar played with Magic and Big O (even better than Stockton) and you dont see everyone saying that, right? Stockton passed to Malone because he would be the one with a great shot. Thats why. 37k points (barely knowing whats a 3pt) during 19 years, kid. And lets not even mention what The Dream represented to the league, how he schooled Shaq, Ewing, Robinson and even sweapt Magic/Jabbar to get his 3 trips to Finals and 2 rings. Those kids...
