3:10 In Death Note, I think a person's true name was actually the one given by their parents, or their first guardian. Encrypting it via a government system would probably render the government document an alias while your true name would still be your given name. If you try to look at this from a supernatural or spiritual perspective, this makes sense, as a person's 'true name' would be most 'spiritually' tied to them, for lack of better terms.
That's almost it. But I think "embodying" your name plays a part too. Like when a person transitions, I assume their real name changes away from their dead name. Actually makes them much safer than cis people if you think about it.

Maybe so but in manga/anime L was suppose to die before Light and L's successor was the one in succeeding in stopping Light. If they kept it like that, we could have a final battle between the successors of L and Light in a future sequel.
One of my main curiosities about the death note was: what would happen if someone changed their name? Would their new name have to be used to kill them, or would you still use their old one? And what exactly would qualify as "changing your name"? Would you have to legally change it or just stop using it and adopt a new one? Also, if changing your name means using your old one won't work anymore, what would happen if you wrote someone's name on the death note and set their death date as sometime in the future, but during the intervening time that person changed their name? Would it nullify what you originally wrote and you would have to rewrite everything but with that person's new name?

A Government will do what Light did in the original death note.. call up the president and threaten to use the death note to make him command nukes on another country starting WW3 or at least threaten to kill him
One thing I've always wondered. With all the years Light had the death note, how is it that it's never been filled to the last page? Edit: To those saying infinite pages, wasn't there something in one of the 'how to use' guidelines about the pages filling up? And when Mikami was told to send pages to Takada, we could see he was nearing the last pages since he tore those ones out.
New Kira is a genius. Not only does he line up everything, but he gets the police to give him his True Death Note back. He also has the other 4 Death Notes destroyed so a new 4 will generate in the world. Last clue is he gets that alternate appearance that his father had when he had ryuk’s death note. The attention to detail is beautiful. I wonder if they intend to continue the story with this kind of deep detail.
So misa Is canonically 30 years old in this and she already bought reaper eyes twice 10 years ago meaning her original life span is over 120 years old, WHAT
Nah. The eyes only half your REMAINING lifespan, not your total lifespan. Assuming a lifespan of 80 years: she made the first deal at 20 iirc, so (80-20)/2 = 30. She'd have a remaining lifespan of 30 years, and would live until 50. Even though she made the deal again (30/2 = 15), she still had a good 5 years left before dying
You forgot that when a shinigami dies saving a human, it's lifespan also gets transferred to that human. So assuming the shinigami that saved misa had 1000 years, misa would still have 250 years after buying shinigami eyes twice.
@@ilovescience7655 I haven't watched the movies so I'm not sure how it works in this adaptation. However, in the anime and manga, it's not actually the remaining lifespan of the Shinigami but the remaining lifespan of the person that the Shinigami killed that will be added on.
You gotta wonder what if you were never given a name at birth; would that make you impervious to the Death Note? Or maybe they will just decide that whatever you're called as first (even if its not intended as your name) or your nickname becomes your name lol
Given how Death Note riffs off of the concept of true names, it probably wouldn't work. My guess is that if they explored this idea the conclusion would be something in the vein of "your name is the summary of your being therefore if you exist you must have a name, you just don't necessarily know what it is"
There is a Death Note rule that says: "The names you will see with the Shinigami Eyes are the names needed to kill that person. You will be able to see a name even if it isn't officially registered anywhere.". This implies that everyone has a name that works on the Death Note, even if they don't know it themselves or never got one at birth.
Holy cow, I had nooo idea they were coming out with Another Death Note movie. Thank you for breaking the news. P.S. you are AMAZING at what you do, you always bring a smile to my face when you post. The videos are so unique and accurate, I hope you have fun while making these videos.
I thought the first death note user was gonna be light's daughter and they were trying to present a descendant of light as being crazed, as someone who's "lost their light".
Maybe I'm incorrect in this assumption, but I wanted to share it anyway. Even if you decided to change the way the records system worked to hide everyone's "true name" (as stated where the nickname doesn't work), I still feel that there's an alternate consideration that is more fundamental to the reason why nicknames won't correctly function. When you use a "nickname," the nickname simply does not represent a single person as it can be applied to anyone. It doesn't matter if it's "The Rock" or "Don Cheeto," the name isn't specific to one person as anyone can be given any nickname. So when you encrypt someone's name with a specific cipher, you'll end up with an identifiable result that directly reflects the person's name. That would be identical to writing someone's name in a foreign language, meaning that it is still just as specific as their "true name" and can be undeniably linked to that specific person. So an "encrypted" name will function identically to the "true" name they use. There would be no difference in outcomes between someone's legal/given/"true" name and there "encrypted" government name. The same could really be true for nicknames that are unique and granted on an individual basis for specific lists. If someone were to find out that DrewishAF is a unique username that nobody else can take on this platform, correlate it to me personally, and use that as my unique personal identifier, it would be no different than calling me by the name that appears on my birth certificate. If you designate someone as only being identifiable by the name they were assigned by their parent/guardian at birth/adoption, then simply changing your name and destroying the original records would work better than any sort of encryption. It's a serious logical fallacy if the person must know your birth name specifically to apply their death note consequence to you.
I mean in this case his point there seemed to be not that it would hide your name from the death note user, just to make it harder to remember, which if it applies to your legal name then it would work, as it is far harder to remember a random string of numbers and letters exactly compared to an actual normal name. Basically it wasn't to stop murder's, just to stop them from being able to easily mass murder with the eyes as would take longer to read and write the names.
Forming a secret society seems like a good idea, but when u literally said the death note could easily corrupt people a few minutes ago, that secret society would easily crumble. The power of the death note could easily gets in people head, and betrayal would be very likely to happen, which would lead to the secret society collapse, which would then give either the government or a terrorist organization access to the death note afterward. Not really a good ending either way.
@@voidtectonic Cringey, emo, edgy, kid who thinks they're all that. Also, "because I alone would ruin the world" makes you look like a douche and a scrawny kid in school.
8:10 While that idea may be ideal, it's not feasible. What would prevent users from manipulating the vote, or worse, turning it into a stupid meme vote, rather than an actual open discussion. People brought Boaty McBoatface into this world, and they would just as easily take him out. Next, how would the secret society take responsibility for the fallout of their actions. For every corrupt dictator, emperor, and el presidente out there, there are at least 2 underlings or rebel leaders waiting to fill the power vacuum. Offing the head honcho would likely lead to a civil war with civilian bloodshed. Third, this shouldn't be limited exclusively to governments. There are multinational business empires that are arguably worse by expanding their reach into new enterprises and choking out the competition. They should be on the list as well.
the subtle "with no one realizing that the guy who walked out, looks nothing like the guy who walked in" at the end made me laugh. no movie goes without its flaws i guess lmao
Isn’t this part of the lore though? Light pre death note and light when he had the death note looked like two different people. So this guy suddenly taking on a new appearance when he has the “proper” death note makes sense. He most likely had this entire thing planned and this changed appearance leaves it open for a part 4, if they wanted to continue.
What made my jaw drop is that ryuk actually helped the new Kira by taking the masks off on than the other one who killed herself for him dayum he's a charmer
When a shinigami saves a human, the shinigami dies and its remaining lifespan is added to the human's if i remember correctly. Two died to save Misa, so she should live well beyond normal human lifespan even with the two trades
Ryuzaki should have made someone write his name down 4 times incorrectly or correctly in the Death Note, because then it would have no effect on him. I think a prisoner on death row should have done that without knowing his true name.
So this is why Vlad the Impaler hated the Turks? Fair enough I guess. As an Armenian I always knew of the Ottoman (and Islam in general) treatment of Christians, with it being part of our history and such. I also knew about the Middle Eastern slave trade. However, I didn’t know this level of detail, so I appreciate the knowledge.
The funny thing is the Death Notes weren't supposed to be in Human Hands in the First Place in the Anime, It did so because some Death Gods were bored and decided to "accidentally" lose their Death Notes so that they can watch what a Human would do with it. The Problem is that Death's via Death Notes are unnatural and too many at once could end up fucking over the Natural Order somehow.
The thing is. The killer can kill someone and also give a reason. If they instant started to say they died from suicide. They will suspect its a rise in suicide
Little tip for anyone who forgot, humans can't see the remaining life span persay. Its in some formula that the death gods know. Not JUST something like "years:xx months:xx" ect. The in vol.13 (iirc) the author states he forgot what the formula was so it wasn't something straight forward
wow I never saw this one but I could have sworn I had all three films on DVD. I love the closure we get with Misa. knowing she'll see Light again (a bit sooner than expected lol)
I have a movie to review and do how to escape or whatever. It's called the black phone and it's amazing, I only just watched it and it drastically exceeded my expectations. I would love to hear how you would survive
I would like the algorithm to know that I did not click this video because of the different thumbnail. I clicked it at my earliest convenience to actively watch instead of having it in the background. That is all.
You could just destroy the death notes when you get it. Because again the power would still be corrupting because the government or the people be like why this certain people get to be judge and executioner. I feel eventually this won't work
Right? Who’s to say governments won’t start using it to take out people they just don’t like? What is their definition of corruption/bad? How will they make sure there’s no fraud in the public voting system if all these systems in their world are so easily hacked?
If you destroy the 6 or just 1 of them you just clear slots on Earth to bored shinigamis to throw new Death Notes in the World. Is better to lock it on a secret society that don't use them just keeping it's possession going on to avoid confiscation or discover a way to seal them away from any shinigamis' reach so they can't confiscate them even if the current owner died without a new one claiming it.
20:04 Math is wrong, if the Reaper eyes half the remaining lifespan then that would mean he will live for another 31 years not 21 cuz 82-20=62, 62/2=31. So the older someone is the more worth it the Reaper Eyes are.
The real way to use the note and avoid detection is to save up names and not transfer them to the note for weeks or months after you decided they need to be written down. And once they are written and have done their job, cut that name out of the page and burn it. So at all times when not in use, the note is full of blank pages only.

I’ve been here since the first death note and you’re the only reason I know there’s a part 3
I wish I had a death note, not to kill anyone just to have a friend.
I would also like to be friends with a death god, that sounds pretty cool
Cant we be technically immortal with a death note,if we right our name and the date that we to 10000 years into the future we won't die till that day
Gives a whole new meaning to "wear a mask, save a life"
One thing I've always wondered.

Infinite pages

@@voidtectonic Are you high? Worst comparison. Your brain has a finite about of memory
Personally, I think the best way to kill with the death Note is by spontaneous combustion.
Say spontaneous combustion idk if that's a thing the body can just do 😂😂😂
@@silvertongue.242_99 The body may not be able to, but the Death Note’ll make it possible 😌😂

6:50 That voting off the bad politician is the same premise of Black Mirror Season 3 Episode 6.
We all know how it turn out
So misa Is canonically 30 years old in this and she already bought reaper eyes twice 10 years ago meaning her original life span is over 120 years old, WHAT
She got her life span from a death god dying so it could have even been thousands of years.
@@apartofme didn't thingybgive her back her halved life tho?
You forgot that when a shinigami dies saving a human, it's lifespan also gets transferred to that human. So assuming the shinigami that saved misa had 1000 years, misa would still have 250 years after buying shinigami eyes twice.
@@ilovescience7655 I haven't watched the movies so I'm not sure how it works in this adaptation. However, in the anime and manga, it's not actually the remaining lifespan of the Shinigami but the remaining lifespan of the person that the Shinigami killed that will be added on.
So they are basically infinity stones 💀💀
I like how Cinema Summary can't decide which thumbnail he should use since all 3 (so far) are so good.
Honestly I'd love to see more live action death note movies clearly they have effort put into them
You gotta wonder what if you were never given a name at birth; would that make you impervious to the Death Note? Or maybe they will just decide that whatever you're called as first (even if its not intended as your name) or your nickname becomes your name lol
That's pretty silly and highly unlikely
Given how Death Note riffs off of the concept of true names, it probably wouldn't work. My guess is that if they explored this idea the conclusion would be something in the vein of "your name is the summary of your being therefore if you exist you must have a name, you just don't necessarily know what it is"
every humans wants a name for themselves. that should answer your problem if you think for a bit around that concept.

This actually seems good. I want to watch this now, even knowing how it turns out.

Your vids are awesome. They are always short straight to the point without useless chatter like Nerd Summary. You also manage to keep my attention.
@@voidtectonic Good thing you don't have it, because the second you say innocents would die, you failed.
I was wondering when another death note video would come out for this channel and oh boy am I happy that he got to this🔥🔥🔥
8:10 While that idea may be ideal, it's not feasible.
Christ, didn’t know so many people were living under rocks saying dumb stuff like, “There’s a Death Note 3?”
No matter how different this movie is or how inaccurate the previous ones are, they are still better then the Netflix one
the subtle "with no one realizing that the guy who walked out, looks nothing like the guy who walked in" at the end made me laugh. no movie goes without its flaws i guess lmao
I watched the thumbnail change 3 times😂 and every time I thought it was a different video lol
Did the writers of death note forget that Misa made the deal for reaper eyes twice?
When a shinigami saves a human, the shinigami dies and its remaining lifespan is added to the human's if i remember correctly. Two died to save Misa, so she should live well beyond normal human lifespan even with the two trades
Really so she could of lived 100s of years if she didn't get involved
She also had TWO shinigami die for her. So she got TWO shinigami life boost. Her life span is ridiculously long.
Fake fan
5:36 ryuk got one HELL of a details update
Ryuzaki should have made someone write his name down 4 times incorrectly or correctly in the Death Note, because then it would have no effect on him. I think a prisoner on death row should have done that without knowing his true name.
Is there a rule saying that if your name is written the wrong way 4 times you are immune?
Finally! I was waiting for so long for you to make a video on Light Up The New World
It hurts a little bit to see live action. But your explanation makes it much better
No trust me. These are actually good
fr, its so weird to see it 10 years after the end of the anime
This guys a genius!
If he was in the movie, it would be over in about 5 minutes.
Mishima also has a long life ahead, since the shinigami saved his life he inherited her life span, much like misa when a shinigami saved her.
7:20 my boy used Palpatine and the dictator as a "top corrupted politicians in the world". thats why im subbed to this channel
Now this is a good movie and it even follows the original concept of the death note story of the manga and the anime
I have a movie to review and do how to escape or whatever. It's called the black phone and it's amazing, I only just watched it and it drastically exceeded my expectations. I would love to hear how you would survive
I just recently watched that movie myself and agree. It was incredibly well done.
I would like the algorithm to know that I did not click this video because of the different thumbnail. I clicked it at my earliest convenience to actively watch instead of having it in the background. That is all.
That intro never gets old
Your the smartest youtuber i ever seen!!!! I'M A HUGE FAN keep up the good work at being good youtuber
One example of a good sequel stories. thank you for covering this, this is one of my favorite movies and Death Note Movie
20:04 Math is wrong, if the Reaper eyes half the remaining lifespan then that would mean he will live for another 31 years not 21 cuz 82-20=62, 62/2=31. So the older someone is the more worth it the Reaper Eyes are.
So it's even batter
Man with one day to die: I now have twelve hours to die
They're middle aged, meaning they're 40-41 years old, not 20
The real way to use the note and avoid detection is to save up names and not transfer them to the note for weeks or months after you decided they need to be written down. And once they are written and have done their job, cut that name out of the page and burn it. So at all times when not in use, the note is full of blank pages only.
i got something to say. 1. that girl with red eyes she looks like that girl from Tokyo Ghoul ( can't remember the name)
