How to install AMD Drivers (without the installing Adrenaline Software)

Here's how you can go about installing just the drivers alone.

This helped me by making my system stable after installing a diy 120mm fan on an aged r9 270x. My temps stay near 70 C. With the adrenaline drivers my system crashed after 1 min of playing games or graphics intensive workloads. 👏🏽🙏🏼 Thank You so much for making this video.

@@kyleday5026 I did not get that error, my card is busted now and doesn't work, but I followed the exact instructions of the video and it made sure my system would not crash suddenly.
Adrenaline has fucked my AMD/Ryzen system twice. And I'm not talking about minor issues, I'm talking blue screens and reinstalling windows issues. This simple work around is a thing of beauty. Thank you so much.
True! I remeber using Adrenaline software and thing is. I allowed Windows to download drivers automatically through internet and it downloaded without adrenaline! Thing is that I compared FPS with Adrenaline and without in some games. Battlefield 1 with Adrenaline barely held 50 on Ultra while without it clearly allowed to go beyond 90! Didn't liked Adrenaline when I have same stuff on my PC. Don't know why Adrenaline is so bad.

@@ryctoxi3474 I had the same issue and i can run games fine without the software but try and backup game progress just incase it doesnt work for you

Adrenaline is so bad that i genuinely am looking to return / sell my 6800XT so i can go back to nvidia and have a normal driver set up. Thank you for posting this
I just bought a 6400 and you are not kidding! I have random black screens that go in and out. Weird refresh rate issues (im guessing freesync....) Im missing Nvidia. I'm wondering if i should just return it. I'm also having issues with emulators

@@hopessaja I still have the 6400. I ended up buying a better display port cable. I have the current driver GPU installed and Windows 11 is up to date. Everything seems fine now.
NVIDIA is the way I gotta replace my brothers GPU cause of an error
I am not sure if this was mentioned but this is a fantastic fix for the 5700 Xt, But without adrenaline there is no way to control the fans and the card will get hot you but use MSI after burner to to make sure your driver is correct and set to fan profiles. Thank you again this fixed problems I was dealing with for over a year

I was struggling with my radeon RX 570 and my old monitor CRT acerview 34 e every time i installed a radeon driver i was unable to make it work, thanks to this now i am able to see actually typing this comment on new drivers installed seriously humankind needs more people like you. I like the software but I do see a possible issue it can cause, being so feature rich. What's worse is they never allow the option to not install with it.

When I get to the part browser for driver on your computer I paste the same as we copy information that we save on a text doc. It say cant be found.

GPU broke this year RIP and i had problem with a display issue even on bios with a clean wipe of former drivers and this helped me installing updated drivers without me trying to remove Adrenaline, i have no idea why i keep losing my display so thank you
what if u have amd and intel(integrated graphics card)..so i don't have microsoft basic display driver when i uninstall amd...what do i do then ?
thanks for this helpfull video. I've throw out the Radeon Software and installed the pure driver, system runs much smoother without lag as it does with the radeon sw.
If you don't need it then I think this is best.

Games continuously crashed and I thought it was my new aoc 165hz monitor. I was depressed for weeks. Removing adrenaline was fix for all my problems. I never had a crash since. Thank you.
Wow, glad to hear that. Yes, this video was made because of that. The Adrenaline software is feature rich but it has potential to cause hiccups.

Hey, I am using a laptop with an AMD processor and a Nvidia gpu. The problem is that I want to have the full screen scaling on, for which I use the Adrenaline software. But I believe the software is causing the laptop startup to slow down. Is there any way I can get the full screen scaling without the Adrenaline software?
PS: The Nvidia panel cannot change display settings as its not possible on a laptop

bro i have the adrenalin 20.4.2, i'm using the dual graphics and my laptop didn't detected my other graphics, the questions is do i have to install the catalyst too so i can use both graphics? because I'm done with every shit happen to this laptop since I updated the driver to the latest one. or i should just go back to the old one? because my problem happened after I updated the drivers

Hi thank you for the tutorial. I have an AMD Radeon 6700M series graphics card and windows for some reason wants it only at 15.201 version. When I manually install the driver as you displayed (Adrenalin June Edition), the device manager says that no drivers are installed for the same and I cannot run python kivy projects. They say OpenGL 2.0v is needed at minimum but when I try to install it, windows says incompatible program. Please help me. I need the latest driver as the 15.201 causes windows to boot in 3 min whereas the 27.20 makes it boot in 30 secs only. Thank you again

are you using the most actual drivers or older ones? i have an rx570 8b and with older drivers runs better, still crashing a lot but less, im using the 20.11.2 version drivers

I have this problem whenever i start a game, my screen goes black for a few sec, goes back, then crashes the game and displays "detected that a driver timeout has occured".

Hi can you please tell me if it is really necessary to install adrenaline?? Does it improve anything? My asus tuf fx505dy came without adrenaline but all the drivers were already installed and it runs amazing, when i installed adrenaline need for speed heat stopped working it was not recognized by adrenaline now i uninstalled adrenaline everything is working great. AMD's Adrenalin Software is mostly bloatware, the only thing that should've been included in it are the Tuning(for under/overclocking) and the graphs. Everything else I've seen is basically ads for AMD's other hardware and a built in browser and streaming? The vast majority of users don't need any of that.
When I try to install the driver into device manager it only updates the Microsoft basic driver adapter instead on my gpu, am I doing something wrong?

@@goldfries I did not have any issue with drivers above 18.X I think. I have a r9 280x (7970), sometimes by having a newer driver you get better performance and stability. I never liked AMD's bloatware though since i need none of the features. It is a shame that sometimes a driver can do as much as brick a graphics card...

neat technique but when I try this or the direct method to install graphics driver for my rx5500xt, my screenstarts flickering and does not proceed any further.

i have problems installing my driver of AMD 3400G (i was upgrading my 200ge to 3400g). it is asrock a320m hdv r 4.0, V Gen 8gb 3200mhz (sk hynix), 400 watt power supply. I keep getting black screen when AMD Driver Adapter installation about 60% progress, it asked me for restart your device (AMD Crash Defender) and immediately flashy red then black screen, wait for 10 minutes nothing comes up. For now, my current solution is AMD Cleanup Utility through Windows Safe Mode but still having the same problem over and over with different versions. Is your solution would fix my problem? So what is your current Display Adapter is it still the default "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" ?
And what should i do when i have Intel HD 4000 installed and no Microsoft Basic Display Driver?
If I want to unistall this "only driver", does DDU would work for that?

Is there a fix that doesn't require you to run the AMD software? That's where my problem lies. When I ren the program it automatically tells me error 182 (legacy driver issue) , and it will close down. I don't even get to the point of being able to cancel it.

Not everyone needs that software. I find myself not using it most of the time.
My HDD died and so I had to use an old version of windows that was incompatible with amd adrenalin and this video helped me get the drivers anyway and now I can finally see my screen!!!!

I'm trying to download the driver for rx 550 but it keeps showing error code 184 which is that my operating system doesn't support. Don't really have authentic windows so can't update it either. I tried your method but every time I do it it shows that my driver is up to date. What can I do?
It just says that the current version of the driver is installed, yet my avast driver updater says i need to upgrade it... It also says i dont have a amd processor on my device when i try to open amd chipset software..

There is a option under advance options to select install “driver only” idk if it was there for you when this video was created. But it’s there as of today when I was following this guide.
I had to do driver only install because the software was causing issues with ryzen master for me
It wasn't there back then.

I just did this and when i check GPU Z my driver virsion says 30.0.15021.1001 but my device manger says 5600 xt and runs normal is this okay?

My entry level Radeon RX 550 on my 2 year old computer checks out alright but 2 weeks ago when trying to bring up the software I got that message : The version of your Radeon software you have launched is not compatible with your graphic driver. A factory reset is recomwended....and so on. I did go to amd and downloaded the driver but was leary on how to install without any problems. It has the auto detect feature but am unsure about the clean install. Thanx in advance if you have any suggestions and keep up the good work. db

when i try to update the driver and put in the file path and click next it tells me the best drivers for your device are already installed but its not, it’s still the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, what do i need to do?

Not that I know of, and that's why I had it installed on my work rig.
For some reason my screen and AMD driver will auto default to YBCr and the screen turns pink. I had to install Adrenaline software to set it to RGB.
