Those trees have been replaced 3 times over the decades. The reason is because it’s a rose garden and roses need sunlight but the trees grow so big they cast too much shade. Melania returned the garden to its original design, she added walk ways to accommodate wheelchairs, and the trees are being safely kept in the greenhouse for transplanting when the weather is right. I am a Biden supporter and I applaud her changes.
