I know you said you guys share the DEF responsibilities, but it looks like everybody does their part to keep to keep the tank ready to roll, when I pull def we keep a few gallons of water in a spare bucket for the fittings, when you’re down throw the fittings in the water it keeps the DEF from crystallizing, dump it out every few weeks for fresh water, saves a little time and aggravation.
Yeah when we get back to the yard we go over to the wash rack and wash the fittings and boxes out and all that.

Watching you cross the river on the bridge I couldn't help but think about the Key Bridge disaster. Running out of the Lancaster PA area we were always in the Baltimore area. I've been over the Key Bridge and the Bay Bridge countless times. Even the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel a few times. Tragedy. There's nothing more we common people can do is pray for comfort for the families and peace of God for those who are left behind. That DEF system is one more thing to go wrong on the truck. Sensors, wires separating, corroded. Safe travels and God bless you and your family and good old Bella!

Great video Mike I was just thinking what a great time you & your family would have had at the 2024 Mid America Trucking show in Louisville KY Me & my Dad attended back in 1993 Remember when Uncle Versies boy Newgene got a job driving a Car hauling rig and one dark night his headlights went out and he was forced to pull over & make a emergency stop he did not know how to fix them no electrical knowledge no fuses like he should have had then he thought hey I know what to do so he climbed up there to that top car that was over the cab of his truck & switched on the head lights on that car and continued on driving how’s that for Ledbetter ingenuity

Hi, Mike! I read the comments to learn about DEF. The only other question I have is, is it required? Do you have to use DEF? Sounds to me like it may be creating more problems than it solves. Thanks for the video. I always enjoy watching.
Lol.. I don't have to use it cause I have an older motor. But the newer motors in diesel trucks from about 2010 or so have to have it. And yes, it creates big problems cause of the systems that are on trucks nowadays are just junk. But like everything that the government touches, it turns to crap. IMO .. but it's all got to do with the EPA and all that.

DEF never gets in the engine!. It's only sprayed in the exhaust to purify . It's a common mistake a lot of people make ...

Our director of maintenance told a few of us if we were getting low on DEF and couldn't find any? Get a couple gallons of spring water and dump it in the tank. Not mineral water or plain tap water or distilled water. Spring water. He said "" Even if the truck derates slightly and the yellow light comes on"?--"" YOU should be fine "". And? We were. DEF is 75-80% water and 20-25% Automotive urea. Or, so he said. "" Don't make a regular habit otta it ""--"" But it'll get you home ""! Craziness.
