I love the new arrangement of the room and the bookcases are decorated very well. I’m not one to wonder or look at backgrounds ,that others find distracting , I tend to focus on the knowledge you are sharing.Thank you, for taking your time to share the results of your room makeover.

Thank you for the tour of the revamped craft room. I would find another place in the house to put the guess bed and get a murphy bed frame so that when there's no company staying over you can put the bed up which will you more room any room.

Your room looks amazing. Like you, I love having my fiber (yarn and fabric) displayed so I can dream about projects for it. But I've learned the hard way to keep it in closed cabinets. I've thrown away trash bags full of fibers because of sun damage, even in a room with only a single north facing window covered with blinds.
Love Ikea. Almost every piece of furniture/storage unit in my studio is from them.
Keep up the good work. You are inspiring.

If you truly have the need for a spare bed I’d suggest a daybed with a pop up trundle. It will take up less space, add seating and take up much less space.

The new layout is much more functional and open, I agree! As for the bed, while the new position is much better, I'd think about getting a sofabed, something that stays closed as a sofa most of the time, and that you can pull out if you have guests or if you need a good surface for blocking :P, that's what I'm doing in my new home, I have a spare room, but if I put a full bed in it, it'll be pretty much unusable, and I don't like it.
I love the look of your pegboards, although I prefer having most things in closed spaces, so they don't get dusty.
The backdrop now is really versatile for you!

Looks much more functional now. A Murphy bed would be a fantastic replacement for your existing guest bed. Many have additional shelves attached to house even more yarn. They're a little pricy, but I see them from time to time on FB Marketplace. Thank you for sharing your room transition and for all of your informative videos.

What a HUGE improvement! The room looks so bright and fresh and welcoming. You may want to consider a sofa bed rather than a bed proper. Sofa beds are usually very uncomfortable, thus ensuring your overnight guests do not wear out their welcome. 🙂

There are much more comfortable sofa bed options now LOL. I agree that a sofa bed would make the room more functional for daily use as an office or craft room. To sit on the sofa and watch tv while you craft and still allow a place for visitors to stay.

What a huge transformation! I can see why you needed to move things around! I live in a tiny 2 bedroom and use 1 room as an office/craft room. Using the extension piece on the Billy is one way of getting additional storage space. I also love the oxberg doors (1/2 panel, 1/2 glass) to hide some of the less pretty stuff. I bought a Serta sofa sleeper that's highly rated for comfort (Wayfair) for guests. I think it's on sale again right now. I also just installed the Boaxel system in the closet which has slide out baskets and shelving. You and your husband did a wonderful job and your room looks great! Your video was very well done and you seem like a natural in front of the camera. I think Gus would agree.

That space looks a lot more inviting and workable now! Just an FYI for next time, you don’t have to step up in drill bit size, and instead just go straight to the size you need, especially since you were using existing bracket holes that should guide the drill pretty straight.

If you want tyo use Billy bookcases for books, buy the narrow 14" shelf unit. They work great and can stand up to the weight of full shelves of books.

I can't tell you how much I LOVE that advice. We plan to eventually have an entire wall of these bookcases in a future home...and I'll be sure to use the skinny versions for the portions filled with books!

Hi Mark! I enjoyed this...Especially the cats (I have 5!) I don't have any advice, but it's nice to see what others have done. I have the main bedroom as my yarny room and also my closet/dressing room. It is very cluttered. It also has sloping ceilings down the walls and is technically a loft (There is one 1/2 wall missing and it looks over the living room, which has cathedral ceilings...so wall space is limited....2 closets take up one wall.....bathroom door and door to crawl space (storage) take up another half wall, then a window is in the middle of the third wall and then the loft railing and half wall.......So I keep looking for ideas and its great seeing others setups....Where does the door go to? You don't use it?

    • @MakerMarkKnits
      @MakerMarkKnits  4 месяца назад

The door on the right side of the screen goes to a little porch. It's not super structurally sound. So we don't go out there ever! The other door, the door on the left side of the screen, goes to the hallway. Your space sounds really interesting and really beautiful with those high ceilings. It's hard to decide which I would rather have, windows, or free wall space 🙂

Absolutely! They are from "At Home." I'm not sure if they are a national chain, but I know we have them across the south and Midwest. They were $10 each FYI.

This is going to sound a little odd but, someone I know has a monkey on the top of her camera and she 'talks' to that. As I said, a little odd but it makes her feel better as she is used to filming in a studio and when the dreaded plague started she had to film from home so it was a transition for her.

Thank you so much! That's "Modern Love" by The Bean Knits. I show it off in my most recent video (Stash-Busting Sweater Projects) AND I have a video coming out soon where I talk about the whole process of making it!

Your original desk appear to have a spaced sort of marked off-what is that for?

    • @MakerMarkKnits

Yes! That was the space that showed up on the above head camera. I marked it off so I could consistently center my camera!

Looks great! If you’re looking to add to your knitting book collection, I’d recommend anything by Clara Parkes….especially her book Vanishing Fleece!
