Every time I rewatch Deadwood I find something new to unpack. It’s a testament to the wonderful cast and the creative and literary genius of Milch. I really wish we had gotten a full season 4 and maybe even 5. The movie did tie things off nicely but it was bittersweet and there is no doubt in my mind if HBO hadn’t gotten cold feet a 4th and potentially 5th season would have put Deadwood squarely up against best all time series lists. Don’t get me wrong Deadwood is on the list but it’s incomplete when compared to shows like Breaking Bad, The Sapranos, The Wire, etc.

It's only during the last week have I actually seen Deadwood. A little late to the party. I've made up for it by binge watching all 3 seasons and the movie in the space of a few days. Great writing, casting and acting. Even the characters that would be considered minor are gold.

Olyphant has such a natural comedic personality, which makes it even more impressive that he played a serious person like Seth Bullock so well. Raylan Givens seemed to fit Olyphant’s real personality so much better. Now his “Santa Clarita Diet” character seems like it was just Timothy Olyphant being Timothy Olyphant…but with a zombie wife.😁

Deadwood is one of those shows that is so good and well written that you really have no idea who the main character is the entire first season. Sure it starts with Bullock hanging a guy, but soon as he gets to Deadwood i think ian mcshane literally has like 3x the screentime and dialogue of anyone else. Its everyones show, were just look lucky to witness really
