    slick idea! Try putting a carpet scrap on the ramp to reduce the bounce problem.

    An improvement for you:
    make a hole in the side, and place the basket/receptacle onto the side or even towards the back.
    the dog will be out of the way, instead of potentially standing in front of the opening, when depositing the ball.
    the machine doesn't care where it's fed from.
    another bonus is it doesn't have so much momentum inside, as it'll hit a wall, and just slowly roll onto the switch.
    make opening in side just a few inches in front of the switch, and not so much towards the front exit.

    Very cool video and project ! Ive been thinking of different ways to make one of those myself and i like that you kept it simple and inexpensive to build its amazing that a Automobile Windsheild wiper motor has the torque to load a spring like it does it looks like Sophie. Is very close to figuring out the entire process. Try reinforcing her with treats On her “ drop” command without the complexity of the chute a bit then Teaching her the chute it looked like she was getting too Anxious to do too many things at the same time ? A old trick is breaking things down into smaller commands ! I also like the idea of using the light and small 18 volt battery

    It can be a bit difficult to train a dog to drop something in a hopper that is higher up than he/she is tall. btw that's a beautiful blue heeler.

    somehow this seems more complicated in the setup with the extra switches, etc... is it more powerful with the window motor vs the wiper motor?

    You make some pretty sweet contraptions! Do you happen to be a mechanical engineer? I'm in engineering school, and was searching engineering projects on youtube when I came across your 1st generation slingshot launcher. I've got a yellow lab that would LOVE a ball launcher! Would you mind if I try to duplicate your design for home use? I think I've got the mechanics all memorized, but I have no experience with the electronics parts... particularly the switches. Awesome video!

    i think this would work much better if the launching arm was under the ball instead of behind it. this way it would launch the ball up, and not just roll it.. would also be cool if the ball sat on a platform, that only moved during the launching action only, and not while the arm was drawn back. that would hlep cover moving parts and keep anyone from getting hit by that arm.. just my 2 cents.. great work thoiugh

    I want one that isn't operated by electrics or motors, but one that would be a spring loaded catapult so the dog would step on a lever that would release the ball and fling it off. that would mean not batteries and the dog gets more complex interaction
    have you considered that?

    @7.38. have patience. don't fake throw then put ball in machine with dog's back turned, dog won't get the link between feeding ball in funnel and it being shot out. maybe wait till watching you, then drop in ball and sees ball drop into funnel, hopefully then sees you aren't part of the equation and are no longer needed (tears). I would be more active too, when have ball, would be manoeuvring around the machine with it inbetween me and dog ie at 8.12. !!!!!!@8.12, hold ball a foot or so above the machine, when see dog seen this and hold attention for 2-3 seconds, then drop the ball. Otherwise the loading part seen as a magicians "slight of hand". Thanks for posting this, don't know why they aren't more popular. do you think the dog can get addicted like a drug? Sorry for the bossy tone, was writting and pausing as watching. just wanted to get thoughts down asap.

      8.57. did the fake then load again behind his back:(, he almost had it before that. hang the ball over the funnel, hold for 5, then drop. dog gets link between feeding in and shooting out. Great vid, did he eventually get it? #banbossy

    • @themrhead
      @themrhead 9 лет назад

      Nikita Webber
      Just like Nikita told, don't fake. Plus how high is the part where the dog must throws the ball lead them to hold, based on the angle of their head. Check the 8.57 when her almost got, but gave up because the ball don't fall from her mouth because of the its angle (leaned back)
